So I have an Xbox 360 with a Bad Model # VAD6038 XBOX / DVD Drive ( I hear this is common in older models)
So here is what I have found out:
Each individual console ( as far as I know) has an individual code imprinted on it that acts like a key.
The key as it were is on the components housed inside the xbox. If you try and take the old drive out and put a new one in it will just say something along the lines of "Please insert xbox 360 Disk" .
You have three options: Find another XBOX Drive that is the same model and switch the logic board out of the old Drive and put it in the new working drive. Second You can do a firmware swap in which you use a program like JungleFlasher to take the key from the first (Broken Drive) and back it up then put it on the Second drive .
The reason I am here is because I tryed the first solution and accidently got on of the solder points to hot and now I cannot solder a wire back onto it correct trace. I looked up any possible other ways to fix my dead 360 and came up with one final solution but I have no clue how to implement it .
The solution is that you take a "14mm tsop32 adapter" and a programmer and pull the old key off of the chip on the dead logic board and then proceed using jungleflasher to put the key unto the new drive.
I dont really know anything about using a TSOP32 adapter or a programmer for that matter and need help figuring out what steps I need to take to figure out which steps I need to take to bring life back into this xbox.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You actually forgot the third (and most simple) option: swap the laser.
For the rest: you have another option than doing the 14mm tsop32 adapter thing (which I have actually never heard of): Just check out RGH or Reset Glitch Hack. It allows you to take the key from your mainboard. But seeing your soldering skills...

After a few hours of my own research I found that it would cost me around 120.00 USD to do that RGH. I could just purchase a new xbox for that price. The price of a new xbox is what I was trying to avoid.
I would go with the RGH (reset glitch hack). I have a RGH'd console - got mine RGH'd so my girlfriend could play games from over seas. As for the price I am from New Zealand and it isn't to bad to get RGH chip cost around $80 from memory.

It's not only the RGH chip you'd need to buy, but also the hardware to dump the NAND. Also the OP has absolutlely low soldering skills, so he'd have someone to build in the chip for him, which that person won't do for free too. Also with RGH Xbox Live is not possible anymore.
I personally would thrash that box or sell it for parts at ebay (maybe someone needs the case) and then try getting a new used one without the cables and the controllers as cheap as possible. A 2009 Xbox phat with a defective laser is around 30 Euro on ebay Germany, don't know the US prices. A new laser doesn't cost that much either, maybe 10 to 20 Euro, so you'd have a working box for around 40 to 50 Euro here (mine didn't even have a defective laser, but a worn out rubber band inside the drive instead, had one of these laying around from a RROD box, so the box I am using at the moment only cost me around 30 Euro).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xbox-360-RROD-F...=item3cc5840a4b If I were in the US I'd buy it, if only for the drive and get me another one around the same MFR date with a dead drive, because they may have the same drive type, and then swap the laser or get the key off the dead drive box and use the whole drive in it.
