I have a open tray error on my old xbox, got a new slim just like it and do not have live id password, and live id will not reset it. I can sign in on old open tray unit no problem. I want to swap the disc drives out and use new disc drive in old open tray console. I did swap them out, however, when I put a game in it, all it would do is come on and say play dvd, it did not read the game as a game and gave me a xbox 360 screen with controls like playing a dvd movie. What else needs to be done? Is there any way to get live id password off of old console hwere it is saved and not required for login? please help, as gamertag was made back in 2008 and has elite, gold, etc on it

Put the new 360 back together with the correct drive(the one that came with it). put your old xbox 360 back together(with the old drive in it). Then connect a usb drive to the old xbox 360(up to 16gb) and format it to use on the 360. then transfer your xbox live gamer tag to the usb drive. then connect it to the new 360 and transfer it to the console/hard drive. Your account is now on the new console.
