Well, It's official. Your computer hates you. I say run a magnet across it. My old one hated me. It literally exploded. Smoke and sparks shot out everywhere so I know what it's like to have a computer hate you.

dude...VIA??? C'mon man....nForce2 is the way to go with an athlon xp. The Doc's right, you need to check the internet if your board does have any incompatibility issues with the barton core. That would definately suck though. Is there anyone here from Kentucky yet?

Ok guys, new mobo installed with Nvidia chipset. CPU is running fine, overclocked one step to test. So far so good, just need to pick up that Thermaltake Volcano 12 cpu fan. I don't like the temp readings I'm getting right now.

I have used artic silver on both cpu and graphics card and it does knock a few extra deg off, compared to the stuff you get supplied with in kit form

heh. I might get some then for the ole proc/heatsink. I wont put it on my graphics card though. That thermaltake giantIII was a "blessing" to put together and I'm sure it won't be any better taking it apart to put some grease on it.

Well, somehow I must have fried my cpu. I installed my new volcano cpu fan but can't think of anything that I did wrong. I installed my old 1600 cpu and it booted up fine. I can't win for losing. Anyone know where I can get another 2800. Are the Semprons any good?

and the other one the thermal adhesive that if for chipset and vga once there it never comes off jejejeje not!"!! theres and artic silver remover that you can use for either the adhesive and t.grease

Hi striker68 , did you connect the temp sensor supplied with the volcano 12 if so i think that cancels out the manual speed control and put's it on auto i.e as cpu temp rises fan speed increases automatically ...

ok stryker as jonni said which of the 2 control did you use you can only use one. i prefer and is recommend by everybody that you use the manual control knob either 3.5 bay or pci but not both.

Great for learning about my nf7 v2 Dr.XP always talks about. I have one my self, and it is the easiest to OC.

http://www.logan.eclipse.co.uk/index.htm

The updated bios that I lost my 3200 settings.

http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bios/nf7-s2.htm

I told you guys before that in 1 touch of my pageup button got my cpu to run from 2800 to 3200. I have 1 gig of 3200kingston dual ddr. Only because I play a Mod of Battlefield 1942 called Forgotten Hope. Which I just couldn't deal with the long loading times with just 512dual drr.

When I updated my bios to the latest, they took that feature away, I manually had to config my bios to 3200, and then windows didn't reconize the cpu. So I loaded a custom bios made by ABIT-NF7D26-MantaRaysXT, this gave me back that option and then some. Really nice I must say. So if you guys haven't messed with custom bios's, try this one for start. Make a back up of your bios first, just in case of a bad flash.

I am still using my mobile 2800 in my desktop, even though it runs cooler, I can't reach the benchmarks I once had with my unlocked 2800. I only plan to have this chip for about 1 more month, so I'll manage for now. But really, don't listen to all this bs about the mobiles are better then original 2800's, because it's just not true. Newegg is the one selling them, look at my last post to find out more about it. Well, just wanted to let you guys with the nf7 boards about these custom bios's. Laterz.

what about if you connect the temp sensor and run the pc under load for a bit, you will without a doubt be able to hear it kick in, do you have a temp utility that shows fan speed as well so that you can get a visual on the fan speed increase as it happens

You mean place the sensor under the cpu, or just plug it in. I have an MSI K7N2 Delta2 mobo with temp sensor and fan rpms. CPU fan is running around 4800.

the jumper ain't supposed to be in place when using the manual speed controller http://www.thermaltake.com/support/installguide/coolers/a1745v12.pdf .... hope this solves your problem ;)
