To Dirtyhary:

Thanks for your explanation about the 1:1 copu of gt4 PS2 game.
Do you thing that copy can work with swapmagic disk (3.6), or only with a right modchip installed?
Thanks.

so from wat i can establish here, the only problem now about getting it to work on DVD9 with swap magic is the PTP/OTP problem. this is by-passed by some MOD chips allowing the console to read OTP, correct? would it be possible to extract the data from the MOD chip and incorporate this into a program that you load with swap magic, and then load the game... same idea as cogswap; or is it the actual hardware of the MOD chip that allows the OTP read function?

It's how the chip is programmed. That'a why a bios update can make all the difference. What your saying has merit. If swap magic was written with extra information (similar to what's been done with DMS4)I think swap magic could be made to work.

i think now we all know that it is almost and probably impossible to put it on a dvd5. what we should do now is try and extract the info from the toxic os and try and make a patch for it so that we can apply it to the actual image. if anyone knows how to do that please help us.

ToxicOS and the other modchip firmwares that support dual layer hack the ps2 to read OTP discs. You can't just patch the image. And even via a swapdisc could be impossible. Remember that these modchip are hooked into the hardware of the ps2.

A patch could be possible, but not using the ToxicOS method.

Hi all,
did one try to run a backup of GT4 on DVD dual layer with swapmagic 3.6 with PS2 slim?
I'm going to try, but if someone failed the same test I could save a DVD dual layer...!!!
Thanks All.

For everyone's information, I tried burning an NTSC gt4.iso with the manual layer break provided in this thread. It didn't work. I created a new gt4 iso this morning using DVD Decrypter, and am going to try burning it today when I get home from work. Will let you know how it goes.

as far as i know, the gt4 is probably not possible to put on dvd5 but we can still burn it on dvd9, what teh toxic os does is it fools the ps2 so that it thinks its a ptp disc but actually its burned onto opt. i was thinking if we can make a patch so that it loads up like a trainer (one of those patches that lets you select a cheat that you enable or disable before the game starts) we can make this game work. The would load up asking you if you want to select the dvd9 patch, you just enable it and start the game. And if it needs to save the patch it can save it onto the memory card.

@dirtharry

By reading your instructions to make a 1:1 copy I found the backup has
Track Path OTP, and the original has Track Path PTP.
If I well undestood your modchip resolve this missmatch, but is it possible to make a backup on PTP like the original one?
Thanks in advance, and
Regards!

@ricky4:As jzuijlek said it's not possible. All discs are pre-mastered at the manufacturers as either ptp or otp. This is the physical makeup of the discs.Even the new dvd-r d/layer discs are pre-mastered as otp.

check the top of this page, i already suggested this, apperently its the firmware that does the trick.

@gtr2005, no the mod chip itself cannot play the dvd9 backups, but if you update the firmware to the toxic os then it can play it, so what we have to do now is to get the toxic os and make a sort of patch trainer, so whenever you load the game it always goes to a screen where you select to either enable or disable it, and if it needs to save the patch somwhere then you can save it on the memory card. dms4 can have it updated by using the toxic os because the cache of the dms4 is 2MB and its large enought for the toxic os.

Sorry for the negativity here, but some of you are being really inconsiderate to swap magic users...
saying stuff like " i think we should now give up "
just because you have got it working using your mod-chips why give up?
sure, you are main priority to yourself, but we are to ourselves, and we helped you, so why do you find it so hard to help us??

i think the ToxicOS idea could work, if someone could try it, that would be great
