terbunny,
Could you explain what swapping sources means?
I turned on the extra options and did some group
and single source swapping, but it didn't seem
to have to much affect. I have on movie with
two parts I am trying to download. The same people have both parts, but 6 of the 10 people
have "asked for another file". Is that something
they are deliberately doing or is this some
kind of eMule restriction? The swap command
just seems to move the grey/yellow smiley faces
back and forth between files.

I keep getting messages sent to me saying 'you have been banned because your cvlient is leeching".
It seems to have affected my DL speeds dramatically, from overall 35-50KBps to less than 5KBps.

This is tragic, cos emule rocks! How do I stop my client from leeching? I still have people uploading from me, so am I even leeching at all?

I have no firewall, so thats not the problem. What's going on?

thanx

I don't know about source swapping, but 'asked for another file' means that YOU have asked that user for another file already. As many films are in 2 parts, this is quite common if you try to download both parts at the same time.
When one part has finished the user will be 'released' and added to the other part.
Source swapping (I'm guessing) would just allow you to change the file you are downloading from that user to another file? Don't see the point of that :P

Yep. Its still happening. I guess that my IP has been banned.

I guess at some point my firewall settings must have prevented access to my share, and during that time I must have got banned by a whole pile of people.
AAARRGGHH!! it was a mistake!

You never told me that alex, that is interesting. It must have something to do with mayube, downloading loads of files and limiting to a low upload speed?

U may have a point there...i do have quite a few files on dl. A few files have completed since the problem began, and things seem to be speeding up.

Only one thing tho.....in order to use a decent amount of bandwidth, I usually have to have loads of downloads, as no one download ever goes faster than about 6 or 7KBps.

People keep talking about files arriving in a few days, but i have never experienced this speed before - it takes about 5-7 days for a 350MB file with sources > 100. And so, I usually have piles of dl's going at once, to make up for it.

Am I doing everything wrong? I'm pretty sure that I've done everything in the tutorial.

I'm using emule v0.30a sivka MOD v10a2b, by the way

THX

Hi Dela,

I am using eMule for half a year now and yesterday got confronted with a problem: after connecting the client finds some hundred sources for the files I am downloading, but within minutes all sources disappear and there is no UL or DL. I reainstalled the client (version 0.30a) and the problem is still there.
I am in a company LAN with firewall, and in the server log I get the message : Your 4662 port is not reachable. Please review your network config. But I did not change anything since installing eMule. And from the very first moments I used eMule I was always on a low ID. That was not a problem since I could DL with speeds up to 34k and UL with 12k.
Any ideea what is going on?

Thanks and sorry if this subject was already discussed here....

Dela: You said it's important to have a high clientid, and when I joined a server, it said mine was 653...which seems extremely low compared to the lowest one you listed.

You also said to do anything possible to raise it...what should I do? I was able to start downloading the first file I tried right away as soon as I joined my first server, but it won't let me download from ShareReactor. Any tips?

Perception is reality.

Try changing the Clientport TCP and UDP on Preferences--Connection tabbed page. Currently its probably at 4662, 4672 respectively. Change it to something high. I had this problem a little while ago and I changed it to 14462, 14467 and got round this problem, and make sure the safe connect box is ticked on the server tabbed page. The only strange thing is that I sometimes get the unreachable message yet I've got a high ID, I reckon theres a few bugs in v0.30a. When it comes to choosing or trying the port No's the whole thing is a hit or miss, best thing is to talk to the pro's at:

Hello Dela and everyone else. Been using Emule for a few months and I cant seem to find the answer to this one (or maybe I have with the DonkeyDoctor ;) ). I have quite a few .part files that are in the 95-99% complete range. A lot of them are just missing the begining or end. Is there a way I can just take this .part and make it a complete file, even if I am missing a few minutes here or there of a film? Will the DonkeyDoctor take care of this? I tried just renaming one and running it within my different movie viewers with no luck, so anyone who was thinking of doing that might as well forget it :) Thanks for this answer and your tutorial (too bad I found it AFTER I figured out most of it :p but the 'release' tip is one I will use in the future. Thanks again and Tschüss.....

I think I found it. I found a German faq and with the little German I could understand it said something like:
Write down the part number of the file
Stop emule
Start Donkeydoctor
test met file
accept and move file to complete
voila, Finished :)

Is this correct?

Well that would be correct if the problem is that eMule didnt properly finish the file!

And of course you are correct :( Being the stubborn person that I am I tried and no matter what I did I could not create a useable file, soooo, do you have any suggestions as to how I could "force" the file to complete? I dont care if there are a few minutes missing on what I am downloading, probably only a few seconds since it is only 8MB out of over 1.6GB total. If its some reading that I have to do just point me in the right direction and I will read away, but I havent found anything on this where I have searched. TIA - LaZ
