Yes, i exported the iml file to the same directory as my ripped GT4 DVD and i've pointed iml2iso to the iml file...it's just no-go. I'm trying to re-build the iso with Apache instead but it's just building the iso too big now.

iml2iso should work just fine. I've built several copies successfully using these tools. I'm mirroring these tools on my site at http://thefileforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4 and all these tools are tried and tested. If the IML2ISO doesn't work, first try remaking your IML using CDVDGEN, and if that doesn't work, you may need to check your system files. I'm assuming you're using XP. You can check system files using "sfc /scannow" from the "Run" command.

My opinions come with no warranty whatsoever, but are totally open-source, so you can reverse engineer or decompile them as you see fit. All other rights reserved.

Well i got mine working not long ago but had a few probs too start with, 1st i made a mess of the extracting the files and had to start again then i got lost with the whole downsampleing the pss files so they were small enough THEN i spent about 2 hours trying to get CD/DVD gen to blooming work then i discovered that i could just export the iml file in CD/DVD gen and make a ISO with Apache which took 15mins :-O

I found the best way is NOT to delete any of the files but to downsample them so your not losing anything, get PSS Plex & PSSdown it takes 10-20mins to downsample all the pss files that are extracted and the quality of the files are not affected even with them being down sampled 50% they still look and sound great, be waiting ages for this!!Sonix rocks!!

Just to let people know I did it like this:

1. I made a ISO of GT4 (PAL version) using DVD Decrypter,
2. Opened the ISO with Apache and extracted both layers to a folder then used ISO Buster to extract the 2nd layer ISO that Apache made,
3. Opened Sonix's GT4 tool and let it do it's thing till i got the message "delete files then press ok"
4. Opened PSSdown and dragged all the pss files in the extracted folder APART FROM THE FILE CALLED 20r60r.pss i left that alone then i set the compression ratio to 50% selected to overwrite the files and waited, PSSdown reduced the files anuff to fit on a DVD5,
5. Pressed Ok on Sonix's GT4 tool and waited till it created the new file with the movies in it, then job done appeared.
6. Opened CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.50 and dragged all the files into the program and then exported iml file,
7. Opened Apache and selected import iml and let Apache do it's thing then at the end i had a ISO.
8. Opened burning software and burned at x4 on a Philips DVD-R and the game works 100% (so far) WOO HOO :)

for those who doesn't have iml2iso program, you can use the tool apache to build your iso.

1. Open Apache
2. Click File / Import IML
3. Make sure all the files matches the order of the original ripped version of GT4.

--- Meaning, it should be in this order ---

EPSON
IRX
NET
CORE.GT4
GT4.VOL
GT4L1.VOL
IOPRP300.IMG
SCUS_973.28
SYSTEM.CNF

4. Click File / BUILD ISO and save it to your hard drive.

I'm still having problems trying to create the iso. When i use Apache i click "build iso" and it starts to build, gets to 99% and literally doesn't stop building! it never gets to 100%. I just can't figure it out.

I think it's possible some of you guys have corrupted images to extract from in the first place. Otherwise, following the guides posted to the letter shouldn't be producing these errors. If you're using a downloaded image, I have to say that I absolutely do not trust any single one of these Torrents out there, although there are some good ones, there is always a risk of the file getting corrupted on the way down. If you're starting with an original, check that your DVD-ROM is up to the job.

Success!! I've finally managed to make a perfectly working back up of my PAL GT4! A big thank you to you great guy's who have tried to help me. It was rustler_r who finally clued me in though...i simply renamed the gt4 ims.file to Ogt4 ims.file in iml2iso. No idea why this worked but it did. I'm going to try p4_tt's tip of just downsampling all the movies now...yay!
