Wasn't sure myself about that game. But, on here, I'm see games that I've never heard of before. I have version 3 of the game in focus, copied of course. You know how some games that take online, then in the same series, one or two get stuck LAN only. Example in case: Need for Speed and Need For Speed Underground. So many games, not enough time to dupe them all.

Can anyone tell me THE LINK to get the ISO Builder or a correct guide how to merge the files together in dos. I have copied the image, taken out the movies and now i need to rebuild it:

GRANTURISMO4.000 <------------|Are
GRANTURISMO4.001 <------------|these
GRANTURISMO4.002 <------------|the correct
GRANTURISMO4.003 <------------|files
GRANTURISMO4.004 <------------|to merge???

____________________________________________________________________

Also Will it work if I just burn the image to a dual layer with Nero (i am getting fed up with this and think it is worth sacrificing $10. (that is if it will work)

@541N7. I'm not sure how you've arrived at those files. The numbered extensions are usually from a file that has been split with a program such as HJSplit for example.

First time poster here :) I would just like to mention that the correct way to do this is by following the latest sonix tutorial. However, DarooKDK said
Quote:
I used the pssdown 1.01 and the older GT4101. And I left the files opening and the first one untouched.
This is exactly what you need to do, use the GT4 DVD5 Ripper Tool 1.01.
When it asks you to delete the files, use PSSdown 1.01 too downsample everything other than the first file and the opening.pss. Press ok once that is done. After that it is the same, the 1.01 ripper tool will do the rebuilding and patching for you. All you have to do now is open up the cd/dvd generator 1.50 and put in the files (I did the files and folders in order, but not the files within the folders), export the .iml file, and then use iml2iso, don't use the apache3 to make the iso. I experienced problems when I used apache3 to do this. After iml2iso has rebuilt the ISO, simply burn it using DVD Decrypter!

ok guys, i'm kind of new in this buisness :) (i bought the damn ps2 because i didn't have enough money to buy the video card that i wanted :), and because i just love the damn GT4) I tried making the damn thing work, even as I'm writing this message I'm waiting for a new Iso , that seems to get larger and larger... it already has 4,67 gb, and that's not normal. I used the pssdown vs 1.01 for the pss files, all execpt the 20r60r.pss, practically i just followed the steps that p4_tt used on the second page...I don't want to give up the damn movies... :( I need some help here this is my second night in a row of failure :( open for suggestions...

Here's how I backed it up.

Tools Needed:
DVD Decrypter.
ISOBuster
CD/DVD Gen
IML2ISO.

1. Create an image of the game using DVD Decrypter.
2. When done, close DVD Decrypter.
3. Open up ISObuster.
4. Have it open up the game's image file that DVD Decrypter created.
5. Grab a pencil and sheet of paper. Write down the files in the order you see them listed. Include the extensions, because some files may be named the same as folder names before the extension.
6. Now, move ISObuster over, and open MY Computer.
7. Open the C drive.
8. Create a folder called "iso_extracted_files."
9. Open that folder, then minimize it to the tray bar.
10. Return to ISObuster.
11. Press Cntrl A. All files should be highlighted.
12. Right click the first one, select "extract", and dump them to the
"iso_extracted_files" folder.
13. When the extraction is done, close ISObuster.
14. Open CD/DVD Gen.
15. Bring up the "iso_extracted_files" folder as well. Move it to
the right of ISObuster's window. You need to see the extreme
right side of ISObuster, and the extreme left side of the
"iso_extracted_files" folder. This way, you see both program
windows at the same time.
16. In the order you wrote the game files down, drag the game
files from the "iso_extracted_files" folder to the CD/DVD Gen
program window.
17. Once all files are dragged over, click the Volume button at the
top of DVD/CD Gen.
18. In the first box, put in Slus or Sles, depending upon the file
name you wrote down.
19. In the next box, put in the 5 numbers next to the Slus or Sles
file you wrote down (leaving out the decimal point).
20. In the box next to Producer, put in: Playstation.
21. Click the Record button at the top. In the save file box, name
it: GT4 Click Save or Ok.
22. You get an error. Click OK.
23. You get another error. Click OK.
24. Now click "file/export image."
25. Name the file "GT4." Click Ok or Save.
26. You now see a flashing "recording" text. Wait until this is done.
27. When this is completed, you will be notified. Close CD/DVD Gen.
28. Open up IML2ISO.
29. At the end of the 2nd box, there is a 3 dotted button. Click it.
30. Point to the folder you created the .iml files, and click on the
GT4 file shown.
31. Click the button labeled "start."
32. The final image of the game is being created. When this is done,
burn that image to DVD with DVD Decryptor.
33. You are done.

Enjoy your game.

Hi digsf

If you haven't managed to backup GT4 yet...

Easy way
1. Take it you have all the tools
2. Follow Simpson1 tutorial up to the point where you shrink your movies
3. Go to page 1 of this thread Johnim gives a list of movies you can delete...Do this you are not missing much
4. After deleting the movies you follow Simpson1 again after the part where he shrinks the movies.
This works

Shrinking movies
1. Make sure you have both .OCX system 32 files (links on one of the pages look under Simpson1)
2. Follow Simpson 1 tutorial....ya on one of the pages of this thread

NOTE : This works only on versions SCES_517.19 and SCUS_973.28 When you insert org disk in PC it should tell you which version of the game you have

GOOD LUCK

I've been using the tutorial supplied by Sonix. I downsampled the pss files and they're suppose to be around 4.3 gigs, but I keep getting 3.74 Gigs. I've tried it three different times. When it's all said and done, I ended up with 4 Gigs. My last try I decided to burn it, the PS2 Logo showed up followed by some legal stuff and then I was hit with a black screen? I noticed a few other users had a similar problem!?

Thanks

I just realized when I'm creating the ISO image at the first of Sonix's tutorial that it only gets to 99%, but I do get the complete message. And I do have the original disk and with no read errors..

Version 1.01 of the RipTool is on my site. Many people have had more success with this version. It's the last but one file on the PS2 downloads page.

Can't you just burn the damn thing with a DVD9-DL? (because the DVD9+DL don't work...)

You probably could, but there are a couple of small problems.

1. Very few burners support the -DL format as of yet.
2. Very few companies sell the damn things.
3. They are hideously expensive.

If you can get round those problems, all you'd need would be the Toxic patch.... and you're away!

Personally though, I'd stick with downsampling and single layer media. There's a lot of us here that fought hard to get it down to DVD-5 size in the first place.

Hi folks, thanks to this great thread I was finally able to backup my GT4 (PAL, European), but... (there's always a but). My PSTwo plays my original GT4 in a LAN, but not my backup disk. A black screen appears and the PSTwo has to be reset.

I'm wondering if this tutorial can be used to fix the backup disk -> http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html

The tutorial claims that the Disc ID utility does not run on PSTwos, so in case patching is the solution, how can I read the disc id ?

Unfortunately not, since GT4 is LAN and not online, but I hadn't had a chance to test out the LAN play side of things. Quite possible there are a couple more disk checks to find. Beyond my scope I'm afraid.

We've covered this before somewhere I think. Basically you have to get hold of that file ("mscomct2.ocx") and put it in your "C:\windows\system32\" folder (Assuming "C" is your windows drive of course). There is a copy of the OCX file in the latest version of the downsampling program.
