@Betto. Both versions of Sonix tool on my site. Have you tried pressing "X" after Autoloading symbol? I have to do that on mine.

I'm paying good money for that site so it had better work ok (Joking!). But it should be ok to click on now.

Hi all.
ANOTHER NEWBIE HERE

Used to do the old PSX games a few years ago and never bothered with a PS2.

Anyway.

Just a question?

Is it possible to backup the GT 4 Game on a Dual Layer DVD.

I ripped it as usual using DVD Devrypter and knew that i would not be able to shrink it without losing something.

SO can i just buy a Dual Layer writer and media and just use DVD Devrypter again to burn it?

OR

Do i have to rip it onto DVD-5 using the tutorials here?

THANKS
And what a great forum

Regards

You can burn it onto a Dual Layered disk, but you need to patch the ISO image with the Toxic Dual Layer Disk Patcher (On my site) before burning. This is to do with certain disk checks on the disk that originally prevented such copying. Be aware though, that not all PS2s like Dual Layer +R disks, which is why the DVD-5 version is generally better.

NTSC Version:

I just made a coaster too. Goes to the notice screen about cars then a black screen. Thought I did everything correctly by following Sonix's guide to a T. I do notice with CDDVDGEN that it doesn't like long filenames. There's one filename that gets changed in it before making the iml file. It's in the IRX folder and is called PDINETCNF.IRX. It changes to PDINET~1.IRX. This is the only thing I can see that may have screwed up the whole process. Does this matter?

After deleting all the listed PSS files my folder size is still 1.92GB

Should I delete more PSS files? How do I bring the folder size down to 1.25gb?

Thanks

Has anyone succesfully sized US version of the game down to DVD5 and gotten it to successfully work with Swap Magic? If so, could one of you guys post how you did it?

I've actually been following these GT4 threads for the longest time, and was quite ecstatic when I heard Sonix finally cracked it (the guy's a living god). I've tried several different things, and burned several different coasters.

One problem I've had is that when I'm rebuilding the game using either CDVDGen 1.2/1.5, the program decides to re-locate the first file location (429 changes to 430) when I try to add the GT4.vol1 at the very end of the whole process. In fact, the only way to circumvent that one was for me to drag in the file in the layout view.

Another problem is that when going through Sonix's tutorial, no matter what series of tools I use, when I resize the movies (50% like the guide recommends), the file size goes down FAR below the 4.35GB mark. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

When I load the game, I get to the black starting screen, and then the game freezes. I'm following Sonix's tutorial to the letter, and am still ending up with the same result, using both rippers v1.00 and v1.01.

If anyone else has had success and has gotten it to load with Swap Magic, could you guys post it? Or at least give me pointers so I can write a definitive guide on how to do it once I finally get it done?

Thanks in advance, guys. And Simpsim1, keep up the good work on the site. That's good stuff, friend.

RemyK313.
I backup up my Gt4 and it's also the NTSC version. You can actually downsample the movie files to about 55 percent because my file is also under 4.35 gigs. My game is about 3.79 gb. I imaging your game being the same. Just make sure you change the copyright to America. and just add the SCUS and the number in the name. If you do any of these things wrong you will only get to the first screen. Let me know if you need any toher help, I hope this helped you. Just to let you kow, the LAN part of my game wont work. I dont know if you wnat that anyways

Hi guys! Been away from this thing for a while, but it's good to be back to some constructive posts again.

The tools you want are all on my site, but to get a working copy, I would follow the points below:

1. If you use the tutorial kit with Apache 3 in it and do not get a working copy, download the version 1.01 rip tool and use that instead of the one supplied (You have to downsample the movies before you click the ok button to replace files).

2. Apache 3 is provided to make the job easier, but it's still in developement so it's a pretty raw affair. If your having any bother with it, you can do the job just as well using DVD Decrypter (Decrypter is getting harder and harder to find now, because of legal actions, but it's still out there).

3. If you're using the v1.02 rip tool, make sure you click the 'Patch Files' button AFTER you've done everything else, otherwise you'll not get past the disclaimer screen.

4. If the game does not load past the 'Polyphony Digital' screen, try pressing the 'X' button.

I think that just about covers it.

Oh yeah. A request... If anyone has the Original version of the rip tool (V1.00 NOT V1.01. It's the one that just deletes the movies), could they please upload it to my site, so that I can host that one too. Thanks in advance.

My opinions come with no warranty whatsoever, but are totally open-source, so you can reverse engineer or decompile them as you see fit. All other rights reserved.

DVD Decrypter 4.6.5. cannot read the original GT4 disk. It gets to about 36%, then gives an I/O Error! and says Interuption: Check Condition and Unrecovered Read Error. I carefully cleaned my DVD, but still no go - it hangs at the sdame spot. I even borrowed a friends copy and had the exact same result. Has anyone else run into this trouble and is there a work around? I tried Apache 2 and it hangs at 73%.
