@diana123: IF you get a folder PSP_GAME with boot.bin and $0ny claptrap like that you don't move it to the ISO folder on your PSP cos it's not an ISO and it wont recognise it. You either need an ISO generator, place all the files in a new ISO and generate/create it, OR you can get a standalone loader. they're like on psp-hacks.com but if you can't find 'em do a google search for "LUMINES LAUNCHER' or "MERCURY LAUNCHER" or "CODED ARMS LAUNCHER" or something. most standalone launchers need no UMD and when placed, you go into games and there should be a "CODED ARMS" (or whatev) icon and bg just like if you loaded in the UMD but there would be the author of the loader's icon somewhere (usually loaders are made my Humma Kavula and his team, FSPAL-PSP).
You usually place em like this (but may vary)
(in the case of coded arms)
RENAME PSP_GAME to COA_GAME
ms0:\PSP\GAME\CODEDARMS
ms0:\PSP\GAME\%CODEDARMS
ms0:\COA_PSP
As you can see, COA_PSP is in the root of the ms. BTW if you wanna delete the game don't delete the game from your PSP by going into games, selecting the game and deleting cos:
1. you're only deleting the launcher (about 500kb) and not the iso (100mb+)
2. You're only deleting the GAME and not %GAME (it would be hard to delete %GAME becuase you cant tell between all those bl00dy CORRUPTED ICONS.)
@theotherguyafterdiana123: you might have downloaded a corrupt file. try again.
BTW (this has nothing to do wit you guys but may as well make a point) sometimes you will get a v1.0 homebrew program, not a v1.5 homebrew app. this means it hasn't been changed with KXPloit. You will only have ONE folder (eg PACMAN) and not the % one. This will NOT work on a 1.5. Download KXPloit and then process it. You will get (PACMAN) and (%PACMAN) and THEN you can play. This does not apply for official $0ny content eg. updates.

still stuck! thanks for the tip but Iam still having probs with upgrading my psp to ver 2.0. I have eboot file in correct directory but the update always says the game could not be started 80020148. what am i doing wrong?

1. what FW are you currently on?
2. If you are on FW 1.5, did you ever use a FW changer?
3. If you changed (faked) it to 2.01, change it back, the PSP still thinks it's 2.01

im on ver 1.52. and the update cannot be done. it says game cannot be started. do i simply have to have the eboot file in the right directory to update or do i need more files? thanks

also when DOWNGRADING you need the overflow.tif etc ill explain later when youve gone to 2.0

Hi, ok guys i have read through ALL this thread (phew!!!)
I have 1.5 firware on my psp
I have fastloader 0.7 and umdemulator 0.8 on psp
I have the followed where to put the folders correctly and i have put colin mcrae 2005 iso into the iso folder. Both loaders run and show the game iso but when i select for it to run the psp freezes no matter which loader i use.
Am i correct in assuming that i NEED a umd original disc in the psp before i can run 'backup' iso's?
Thanks 4 any help guys and keep up the good work, excellent forum.
ok, forget above question, been searching site and found out that i do need umd disc unless i use dev-hook.

Question:
If I have a 1.6G ISO, does the ISO shrinker reduce the ISO to 1G or smaller? I tried the iso shrinker(suggested in THIS thread) for 2 games (Prince of Persia and some other one). Neither one shrank below 1G. I am referring to the ISO shrinker that lets the user simply drag the file into the software. I am starting to think I have to buy a 2G memory stick which is probably the same price of what Angelina Jolie paid to adopt her first child.

ok some games are uber huge so shrinking is no use but to shrink it heaps:
1. Use UMD Shrinker. It will rid the dummy files (bout 200mb)
2. go to www.psp-hacks.com download the game-specific rip kits (eg. CODED ARMS RIP KIT, LUMINES RIP KIT...) that you need. it will rip out all the movies, music, sounds, etc. Saves (depends on the game) 200-800mb.
PS. This is ONLY for FULL ISOs eg. You dumped from your own UMD you bought OR you downloaded a FULL 1.X GB ISO. Most Downloaded ISOs are already ripped.
They managed to rip SOCOM beta (movies, music, sounds, dummy files...) to 15MB.
The Fired Up browser is practically an ISO of Fired Up but with everything ripped out except for the menus and the browser. Roughly 10MB.
@williamf: two ways to run PSP_GAME but if you want an ISO:
1. Get a ISO Generator (or just use Nero)
2. Place PSP_GAME and boot.bin in (or in Nero just go to create data disc and do the same)
3. Generate ISO (or in Nero "Write to Image FIle." make sure it's ISO, but if it's not, use an image file decoder and turn the .ncd to a .iso using a decoder like ISOBuster or something. The same can be done with CLoneCD. Turn the .ncd files into .iso files with the decoder.)
4. You should have your ISO!!!
OR you dont need an ISO. Just get a standalone game-specific browser by FSPAL-PSP that runs from the PSP_GAME and follow the readme.txt and run.

Hi need some help, i have fastloader 0.7 and want to play need for spped rivals i loaded the iso, isomisc and isosplit file to the mem card and loaded fastloader and fastloader% to the GAMe file whick is located in the psp file. I then sent the need for spedd iso file into the iso file of fastloader and when i try to play it reads "corrputed data" please advise my error, p.s. this same thing happen swhen i rip dvd.

Hi
this question might have been asked before but
I'm from Hong Kong, and have got a PSP with 1.51..., i tired using fastloader 0.7 and used the instructions (iso folder etc)
i get the spongebob screen but it says the game doesn't load...
is it because i have 1.51?
or is it due to the game doesn't work on 1.51 (i have 4 games on the memory stick is this a problem too?)
the game is fifa 2006, marvel, ssx tour
should i only place one game and which one of these would work

yeah its because you have fw 1.51
upgrade to 2.0 then use the downgrader out there somewhere to downgrade to fw 1.50
then the games should work providing they are in iso format.

u have a 2.5 and up psp , thats only if u purchase the 300 dollar locATION free player from sony, u can not run homebrew or fastloader or anything at all, or play backup games, *maybe tetris*

okies so i should upgrade to 2.00 then downgrade to 1.5 (think i know there was a forum that talked about that will read it now)
1. question is to upgrade to 2.00.... i have GTA and it has this think that asks to upgrade to 2.00 will that do?
2. also can u place more than one game on the memory stick?
3. where would u choose which game to play?
4. is fastloader 0.7 or umd loader 0.8 better (whats the difference)
and do both require 1.50

torrents are cool BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO USE EM.
The blah.torrent files ARENT isos!!! You run em with torrent programs to download.
IF you have 2.00+ you CANNOT RUN HOMEBREW AKA INCL. LOADING DOESNT ANYONE FR1GG1N LISTEN?!?!?!??!
LocationFree is on 2.50+. It has NOTHING to do with ISOs. You cannot run hb and isos on 2.50+. To USE LocationFree you need a LF ROUTER!!! WHich are rare!!! And there is a 0.2% chance of the average man getting one coz your local shop doesnt have any!!! And can only be bought from $0ny and $0ny only!!!
