Here you go folks I know its a pain but until something better comes along. With AnyDVD 5.4.1.1 running use DVDFabDecrypter 2.9.5.2 Beta 2 into a seperate folder. Take that folder and use VOBBlanker version 2.0.1.0 just as it comes out of the box, into a second folder. Take the second folder and use DVDShrink 3.2 to shrink in its entirety to a 3rd folder and burn the third folder to a dvd using Nero. And voila a perfect copy with all the subs menus movie trailers ect. just like the original. Tip! Do not change any of the settings on VOBBlanker just let it remove the bogus cells.

I wonder if there are different versions of this movie floating around with different encryption? That might explain why some people are having a harder time than others? just a thought?

@robtwilk

I can't fathom why there is such a wide variety of "it worked...it didn't work" but I backed up LOD last night using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. I was visiting my son last night (actually, I went over to play with his dog) and he was PO'd because he couldn't burn it. He tried Xcopy (pure junk, but he likes it) and AnyDVD + CloneDVD2 and it simply wouldn't work. I told him I would take it home and try and it worked 1st. time with the same combo -- took 53 minutes start to finish. I purchased AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 about 3 months ago and they are basically all I use. I have other proggys, but still prefer these 2.

Look its real simple you need to make the bogus cells disappear from the files you are trying to burn. VOBBlanker will do this for you after you rip it using AnyDVD and FabDecrypter. Once the bogus cells are gone DVDShrink will do its job. See my previous post.Works great and you do not have to sacrifice any of the dvd and the quality needs to be seen to be believed. Best part is all the software is available free. See other sites.

I have my doubts about CloneDVD2 working any better than Shrink or Nero Recode, but I am not one to disregard advice without giving it a try. I will download the trial version and try again this weekend (since I'm out of town).

Again, I assumed that "just running AnyDVD in the background" would solve all of these issues.

Yes - DVDXCopy is no longer a valid option for backing up your collection. It had its day.

I am new at this game.....and of course i pick two of the hardest dvds to back up...lords of dog town and triple xxx, I can get the movies the decrype and burn. The picture is perfect, I could not ask for any better.....but the audio is the problem.....it has the directors talking in the background discussing every aspect of the movie....I dont understand where i went wrong......ripped with DVD FAB with AnyDVD running then shrunk with DVD Shrink 3.2 after opening the file from the HD, VIDEO_TS and burnt with Nero....everything was fine but the audio....i am sure it is something simple....can some one help me please????

Real easy solution dude! Just go to the movie's menu and under "setup" or "Audio Options" switch from "Director's Commentary" to Dolby 2.0 or 5.1 or whatever the choices are.

Or just press the "Audio" or "Soundtrack" button on your DVD player's remote control multiple times to cycle to the soundtrack you want to hear.

Best regards

@ireland

Thanks for the info. I recognize your name from the Xcopy forum where I used to hang out, and I know your advice is gold. I did read that DVDFab and AnyDVD were updated to handle the new LOD encryption. So I assumed they would work to back up my DVD.

I own LOD Unleashed and LOD PG-13 for my son. Neither versions worked without the black screen. I will try CloneDVD2 since many people have had success.

I too was having all kinds of problems with this movie, i usually use anydvd, dvd decrypter and dvd shrink with little or no problems. Not with this movie could get it on my hard drive but dvd shrink would not pull it up kept giving me errors. I then tried all kinds of other free software dvdfab decrypter, magic dvd ripper, aoa, and all kinds of other stuff. I finally downloaded clonedvd 2. That worked with no problems, using the lastest version of anydvd running in the background.

pg-13 version and the unrated version\

Yes, I have now copied both versions no problem, using anydvd and clonedvd 2.

Let's also remember there are two different versions of this movie as Ireland has said and as I posted some time back. I wish everyone would identify whether they are successful or not by also stating they have the R rated or the Unrated (Unleashed) versions.

Not to cause more confusion, but the versions are:

1) The PG-13 Theatrical Release
2) The Unrated Extended Cut (Unleashed)

Yea, you're right. I just looked it up on IMDb. PG-13 or Unrated; Unleashed. I always buy the extended, director's, unrated, super-duper, top of the line of any movie. Never paid any attention to the theatrical version.

I assumed that how could they even manage to get a PG-13 cut out of such a delightfully offensive movie as this!!

The one I backed up for my son was the "unleashed" version -- at least that's what it said on the dvd.

Yeah all same problems for me too, in the end it came down to using the latest AnyDVD and DVDfab then Shrink without altering the disc at all and it came out perfect.

Why dont you guys just use any dvd to decrypt in backround only then shrink and burn with DVD Shrink, I asking if there is a better way but this seems better than all the extra you guys are doing, is there a way I can save time by not putting on harddrive and burn to disk, my shrink saves a copy to drive and I fiugured it would go faster without that step.
