You can play (almost) the entire game using 3 characters, or switch them out during battle. Almost impossible to lose (except bosses) if you manage your party & keep them from getting knocked out (break status). E.S. battles are awesome. You can build Anima to unleash an attack that fills the screen with special fx.

Completely forgot about .hack, never played any of the games, never watched any of the anime either (even though im a huge fan of both RPG's and Anime.) Since this one starts anew it might be worth playing. Yeah i commented on Xenosaga III as a game to play this year. There were some others too... but i cant be arsed saying the names all over again.

I read in Gamefaqs. They list Kingdom Hearts II on the top hotest games. Is that true?

TheReturn, I think you should start with an easy to understand game like Final Fantasy X first. There's lots to learn, but you can beat the game without learning 20-30% of the battle system. Once you've learned how these new school RPGs work, then replay FFX or move to newer ones. Dragon Quest 8, Shin Megami Tensei, Disgaea, Star Ocean, Grandia or Magna Carta. I suggest .hack// series but not everyone likes it (more action than RPG in some ways).
If you just go buy an RPG w/out getting an easy one, it might shock you. RPGs are deeper in gameplay than the older ones on SNES/Genesis. Only PlayStation1 rpgs are as intricate as the newer systems (PS2, Xbox, GameCube). Not just graphics either, gameplay much much more difficult to learn. Which is good, because you think of it more like a challenge then some game to play.

final fantasy series rocked. As you can see im a fan by my name.
Loved FF7, FF8, FF9 but unfortunately i was one of the ones mislead by the xbox and wasted my money on that instead of getting the ps2, therefore i havent been lucky enough to play ffx T_T.

I have a feeling the returning is one of those desperate newbies who spend lot's of late night hours just to get their post number and rank up........ LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! and YO!!! I just beat emerald weapon and ruby weapon with gameshark and no final attack material.....(hands down please).....

Final Fantasy and Resident Evils are my favorite games. However, someone turned me on to the Shadow Hearts trilogy, and I LOVED THEM!! I wish they'd make more of those!!!

Yo, when you talk to an Afterdawn Addict, you got to pay some respects. I've been helping 100s of ppl to fix their game consoles in the late nights.
Plus I dont cheat like you with gameshark on RPG games. I fight like a hero as everyone else.
I've finished FFX. Now I'm waiting for FFXII. Meanwhile, I want to play something else.

abit lively in here at moment lol
long way off ffxii yet still a few months before release and with the release of the ps3 and wii i think alot of peeps maybe saving there pennys im surprized there releaseing so late but if they cant get it ready before then theres not much we can do about it
wanna quick fix on games grab a gamecube ( i know its abit childish) the game are fairly cheap and there is a fair amount of rgp's not very long in lenth unless its a 2 disc
but tales of syth is a well worth game but an orginal is going to cost but there is plenty on work around wink wink

Has anyone played Magna Carta?? I was told by someone that it was the 'ultimate' in RPG games. So far, I hate it. I'm at the beginning of the game, and I'm supposed to get a phone call that allows me to proceed. I've done EVERYthing that the book tells me to do, but I still haven't received the call. Any suggestions? I know....it's probably going to be something really simple, and I'm gonna feel like a moron, but at this point, I don't care. ~L~
Also, I know about the blue globes that are supposed to be phones, but when I pick it up, the person on the monitor isn't the person to whom I'm supposed to be speaking!

I played Magna Carta for a little while, until i got to a village called Lester or something. It was quite boring really. Theres a whole bunch of things wrong with it, and not much right. Its a typical RPG experience, with a somewhat flawed battle system (although the idea was pretty good.) It had horrible voice acting, mediocre graphics (nothing special, play FFX after that and u'll know what i mean) and a slow-paced story that wasn't very understandable. Apparently if u can stick the whole game through though, the story turns out much better. I don't know... Why don't one of you guys try getting that far?

DJAsh..so far...what you've said...my sentiments exactly!! I haven't reached any battle scenes yet, but if/when I do, I get the feeling I'm going to hate them.
