With the announcement of the new name for the Revolution and the fact that the controller is said to be the worst design that many designers have ever seen, Nintendo has killed its chances of ever being in the race for the best console. It does not have hardly any attributes that can match up with the 360 or the soon-to-be-released PS3. I have a feeling that Nintendo blew a very good shot to regain its position in video games as a dominant system and will lose many a gamer because of some of the poor decisions that they have made in this new system.

Just remember,if you keep seeing the same controller design, we wont ever get any further now will we?.

I think the controller is great, havent got any problems with it, its much more advaced than any other controller on the market i think, isnt that what your looking for when you go out to spend big money on a new, top of the range console..

I kinda agree with the name, KINDA that is, put it this way, when you think Nintendo Gamecube, you think mario (i know you all do..), when you think Mario you think "kiddie" games...Kiddie games..Nintendo..Gamecube..all fits right?

Naming the console "Wii" makes it sound alot more techy, alot more advanced but still child friendly, i myself would'nt mind buying one if i was a gamer..bottom line is Nintendo know what they are doing ,i'm pretty damm sure everyone will be buying the Wii, its just a feeling..

Dude, the controller has gotten far more praise than anything else from the majority of developers.

The Revolution isn't supposed to "match up with the 360 or son-to-be released PS3". It's trying to be different. Nintendo tried to put a technically superior system out last time to try to regain playstation marketshare, and it obviously didn't work. So now they're trying something different. Do you understand the logic behind that?

The controller design is one of the worst designs for controllers in a long time. Its like i'm playing a system with my remote and a joystick attatched to it. It doesnt even look like a controller at all.

if I could punch you in the face djsmooth i would.
Nintendo is trying to set itself aside from the others by changing everything that is in a video game. they are being different. If you hate the nintendo wii (revolution) than dont post it in a forum all about it. If you want to go diss nintendo, do it somewhere else.

Why would it be bad playing with that controller? Just think of pointing and shooting a person on the screen intead of having to mess around with aiming on other types of controllers.

I would suggest waiting until you have had a chance to try the new controller before saying it's the worst, unless you work for someone that has a developement kit and have actually used it. The people that have used it seem to be very positive about it. I am sure interested in trying it and seeing what new kind of unique gameplay that it is capable of enabling. Knocking something that you have never tried reminds me of trying to get my children to sample a different food and them saying they don't like the looks of it so they won't even take a bite.

I believe nintendo can make great things with the controller. As for the name, I hate it, but it's not going to be a factor. I'll just call it Nintendo.

fatjohnny, don't let dj's opinion bother you. He's just expresing himself buddy. If something I know for sure is that the wii won't be for anyone.

Yes, but knocking something for it's shape (which is rather generic imo) is pretty childish. Then he goes on to say how developers think it's the worst design ever when, in fact, most publicity about the controller from developers has been positive.

Yes. Maybe he should read up on the controller's reviews. He should Google it and tell me what he fines ( if any ) for negative thoughts for the controller.

And by attributes, what do you mean? If you mean that they are going to sell their product when they know it's not ready and have the most glitches a gamer has ever seen *cough* Microsoft *cough*, then no it won't. And Nintendo has already stated it isn't going to compete with Sony and MS so I don't know what your problem is.

Nintendo is trying to compete with Sony because it is the other Japanese company and also Microsoft will have been out and everybody who will have wanted an Xbox 360 will have gotten one. Microsoft isnt competing with Nintendo anyway because they are trying to knock out the PS3. Nintendo is pretty much by itself because Sony and Microsoft are duking it out while Nintendo is doing what it wants to do.

are you really saying that ?...

well i think nintendo will die in this generation and make just games like sega and atari.

nintendo needs to create new games.

I agree with mudearies, in that I don't think I've ever bought a console based on the controller, with the exception of When I will purchase the Wii. The only reason is that the Wii's controller is as much an asset to the experience as the games, which is what drives a console's success.
Superior hardware is a plus, but as Microsoft and Nintendo learned, it isn't as important as having an un-fuckwithable gaming library like the one Sony possessed.

The Wii's controller is supposed to be a much more beneficial and entertaining medium for interacting with games, as opposed to the standard controller.
We'll just have to wait and see if Nintendo can deliver.

As for the "last home console", various nintendo reps have repeatedly dispelled this rumor. No, it will not be their last home console.

Finally, yes, Nintendo needs some new games. Hell I don't care if it's from third parties. Both EA's Wii football game and Ubisoft's Red Steel have me just as excited as metroid or zelda. Although... an online Super Smash Bros. is my most anticipated title as of now. But still, good point.

yeah you keep eating all the nintendo hype if you want.
the fact is the revomote is nothing without good new games or the support from third parties.

revomote = gimmick.

That's what I just fucking said. I was agreeing with you.

I find it irresponsible to judge the obscurity of something before it's even been released. Like I said, I hope Nintendo can deliver. If the Wii isn't fun to play, than I won't play it. It's that simple.

Who is to say that it won't have new games? Red Steel, which is by Ubisoft, is something new that will take advantage of the controller.

And according to all the hype about developers LIKING the new controller, it is sure to have plenty of 3rd party support.

Not to mention the relative ease and low costs for developing Wii games.

They should slap a sticker on the WII that states only for kids 12 and younger. Thank God the new Zelda game is being released on Gamecube. The WII is just a gimmick and is not going to work. Everyone do this, hold the remote to your tv straight out and hold it there for 5 minutes. It is getting very annoying and your arm is strarting to strain isn't it . This is not going to work. My predictions, on the PS4 or XBOX 720 Zelda and Marion will be on those systems after Nintendo switches to just games

Nintendo needs to release 2 types of controllers in order for the WII to work and sell right...I like the fact that if you're playing a Sports game like Baseball that you can use the controller like a Bat or Tennis like a racket. But if I'm playing a normal platform game on the WII I would like a normal controller to play it...

oh yeah there was a pic somewhere of the shell.. I forgot about that...
Well that's cool...

I just hope you can choose to use or not use the motion sensor.. Same with the PS3 I hope the games have options that you can choose to use the features or not..
