Thats it, You should check the system settings for it should be 1.5 once you have turned it off and reset it.

im still getting the message "to start, you must update the system software". I have restored default settings, i have updated it to 2.0 and then downgraded it to 1.5, i have reset the psp numerous times.
what should i do.

i cant play any games. when i click on the game, instead of starting the application, a message pops up and says "to start, you must update the system software"

I don't have a psp with 1.5 firmware nor do I know anyone who has one.

i have jsut downgraded my FACTORY 2.6 EU white psp, yes a factory 2.6 so you can change that in your instructions, it works on downgrading factory 2.6 psp's and my psp is not a TA-082 it is a 1C9001 well i think that is what it says in the back of the umd, but it is tucked away so i can jsut read the tops of the letters

To play newer umd psp games once you have downgraded you will have to use fastloader(there are others) This is the only way I know of. Try searching other threads, they will probably have answered questions from other users. Hope this helps.

OMG use the search button ppl, just because you are ne to the 1.5 world does not mean you get to be spoonfed. There are a lot of great threads out there, so heres what you do.
1.Get your mouse
2.Scroll to the top of the page
3.CLICK SEARCH MESSAGES!!!!

When it says "1C9001" that means that it IS a TA-082, u must be luky that it worked!

Now thats a stupid question but you're new to the scene so its understandable...you will need homebrew apps to make games higher than 1.5 work on it...games that are 2.00 and under will work with the program called "MPH Gameloader", if you can't find it on ur own, then PM me and I will send it to u...

do you need the gta game to downgrade a 2.5 psp can you tell me if this is right i downloaded the down dater files
1/ i put the downdater files which include 2 folders dump and prx and 2 files called inputfl.bin and outputfl.bin in the root of the memory stick f:\
2/ i put the downdater test folder which includes a file called eboot.pbp
so what do i do next ive read you need a eloader

@ s3a i hav just installed the downgrader that i downloaded from psp-hacks now all i have to do is load gta and wait for the memory stik 2 flash then wait a minute or so until the flashing finishes then i have 1.5 automatically or is there any chance i will brick my psp by attempting this and doing everything right?

Any time you mess with flash there is a risk of bricking. Thus, they say its beta and say they are not liable for your brick. Possible, but not likely if you follow the directions.

snes and nes ya, im not sure about genesis but I think you can and as for downloaded videos, if u convert them to mp4 then it will work on ur psp...as for "recommending" it, why shouldn't...this isnt risky AT ALL, I say this because for it to be risky it has to have access to the flash, which upgraders from sony and downgraders from hackers are risky, sony's is not risky at all if u dont turn the power off or unplug ac adapter etc...but u get my point, right?
