It's not something I've really thought about, but I'd recommend going with 965 if you can, just because there aren't many doesn't mean there aren't any!
As it happens there are quite a lot, this looks good:

Men are from Mars
Women are from Venus
Wonder where Jinkazuya is from
No disrespect intended but it seems their is no common sense here,or questions are being asked by an extremely young person, who might have difficulty in reading spec sheets

I think that's a little unkind, I just think you should do a bit of research yourself Jinkazuya, rather than expecting us to do it. There are however far fewer pitfalls today then there were even a single year ago.

I hope this is ok guys. I posted this in the Dream Machine thread and got some good replies. This will be my final selection so let me know what you think. This is already at 5300.00 so don't be afraid to suggest something else if you think it will work. i don't upgrade everytime something new comes out. i usually buy the best in one big shot and leave it alone every 2-3 or 4 years. I mainly play games. I do plan on overclocking but being my first build I just want to get the setup right first.

looks amazing! most of the time you dont need an anti static wrist strap, but when your dealing with 300 dollar + parts then its a good idea to buy one, just make sure that you DONT have your monitor anywhere near you when your using it, you could be killed if you touch it with that wrist strap on!!!!

all of the parts will work well with each other, and that mobo has a very good chipset, i have the 650 and it has been very good, but if you try to install windows xp without sp2 it will not work, even if you upgrade to SP2 later. You may also have to make a flopy with some drives if you plan to use windows xp.

It's awesome. Can you stretch to a Dell 2407FPW? That will kick far more ass than a 22", and will actually make good use of a PC that powerful.

looks like an awesome setup. only suggestions I can make is maybe upgrade the cpu hsf to a zalman 9700led or thermalright ultra 120 extreme (you need a 120mm fan if you go with the thermalright.

also personally I don't think any desktop pc speakers sound better than klipsch

My Z-5500s are rated for the same sort of output, around 120dB max, but above 110dB the tweeters are completely unresponsive since they're phase plugs, so for volume quality when it really gets loud the Klipsch unit may be slightly superior. A Dual driver subwoofer? How does that work?
Personally I'm very fond of my speakers. I don't recommend them to anyone else because they have a fundamental design flaw with the shielding. However, at home the problem is almost non-existent compared to university, where I'd get pops very often indeed.

The total airflow of an Antec 900 is higher, as is that of a lot of cases. Just because the fans are big doesn't mean they push loads of air. I know they weren't for me, but I was just pointing out they're fugly.

sam,

thanks for the feedback. After reading some reviews on the board at T.H.G. it appears that the Gigabyte board and many uATX boards don't OC all that well. Does the "G" 965 hinder OC'ing by that much, as opposed to the "P?" Could it potentially be heat related since the "G" has built in onboard graphics? Aside from chipset, I guess manufacturers don't think many will OC on a uATX platform. Bummer!! Oh you recommended the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 to Jink. Do you own or have you worked with one? I've been reading good things about it, but just want some personal feedback.

I only recommended it on the strength of the DS3, it seems similar in construction, but you'd have to disable the integrated graphics.

OH NO you're right, "PRETTY" wasn't in their description. lol. I also like the Antec 900 case and as you said it pushes tons of air. :) btw that's the one I'm looking at for my next build. :D

I think there's a Thermaltake case like the 900 but I can't remember which one it is. It may be the one I linked too. :P Sleep or lack of it is catching up with me.

I still like my CM Mystique case even though air flow isn't the best. I can't complain about my temps though with only 2 120mm case fans. the front running at 1700 rpm and the rear running at 1200 rpm. I still think it is one of the better looking cases.

I'll never go back to a metal case and I'm sold on the true tooless design.

Probably not. While I am up over 5000 depending on the values I can find the Samsung is big enough for me now at a reasonable price. I do have an older pc so I may eventually buy a bigger monitor and just move them on down.

Yeah I may go with the zalman 9700 instead. I have gone back and forth so many times I forget where I end up at. The 9700 is 30mm bigger and only 6.00 more so that looks to be a good choice.

Thanks for the sugestions. I think ill stick with my choice though. The 2 xclio's and enermax just don't do it for me :). And i like the black over the silver thermaltake(being 60.00 cheaper also helps)

I have the GA-965p-S3...and my friend has the G...The P model definetly OC's better then the G...even with the on board graphics turned off and a card installed...No comparision...

LP, your build's high spec, but the cost of RAM is wrong (it's $320 or more), and it uses loads of different stores, which adds to confusion along with lots of delivery charges. Sticking to one retailer like I did would be better.
No Sam the memory is now $335 for 4gigs...It was $198 when I posted it..:) One of the best deals I have recently seen...I'm kicking myself for not pulling the trigger...and picking up 4gigs..:( it was with No-rebates...NO Tax...NO Shipping...
I only list reputable dealers that I have had first hand experince with...One stop shopping maybe the easiest but it is not the cheapest...especially at Newegg...Newegg plays to many games with sale prices and shipping...I do not consider them to be the only place to shop...Newegg gives zero discounts on shipping multiple items...So therefore you save Nothing by buying only from Newegg...

But what about other shops, surely it's not the same there? I don't know about you but I'd rather not have 10 separate deliveries for a PC build.

It was only 4 retailers not 10...and it saved over $300 not counting tax and ship differences which saves even more...

All I am saying it can be significantly cheaper to buy from more then one source...Newegg isn't the only quality retailer around...with a little bit of shopping around you can build a much better PC for the same price as shopping only at Newegg...

I live in California so everything at Newegg is roughlly 8% more then the price listed because of sales tax...yet I receive No break on shipping even though they can ship to me cheaper because of distance...Newegg is notorious for playing Games with Prices and Shipping...one week memory is $99 with $30 shipping...the next week it is $129 with Free Shipping...Its nothing but deceptive advertising...I still buy alot of product from Newegg...however I watch and see their deceptive practices...

Mike it looks like you did some homework but make sure that Muskin Ram is compatible with the ASUS board. I can't remember but there is a couple of combos that DON'T like each other. :)

I was gonna say see Cancomputers.com buy it's under construction. Just for price comparisons. I've talked to a few Canadians that shop there BUT it seems that the online retailer you're "buying" from is GOOD! ;)

Change on GPU for $6 more. link to XFX 8400

Suggestion to WD HDD cause I'm a fanboy. :P link to WD 320 SATAII

Thermaltake PSU
for $1 more

I thought these "changes" would make your puter a little bit better IMO. ;) More power for a $1 and the BIGGER GPU for $6 seemed like good ideas to me. :) GOOD luck with your build! :)
