Thanks, I'll look into it.

Even though I'm not putting together anything right now, a Case is always useful to have for the next build. If I see a good deal I'll probably just buy it now.

Anybody notice the deal Newegg has right now for the 64x2 6000 Black Edition. With the promo code, $149! That might be fun to play with. 2MB of L2 also! One could build a relatively inexpensive game machine!

Throw in this MB for $129, and away you go!

abuzar1,
Now be nice! LOL!!
It's still not a bad deal for a nice SLI machine. It isn't exactly bog slow, you know! The 6000 black Edition is not a bad CPU! The MB's been around for a while too! Pretty positive reviews as well!

Hey, cheap SLI!

A 80 dollar E2180 will overclock to 3.2 ghz easy. What's the point then?

EDIT: I'm guessing SLI motherboards for the C2D don't come that cheap? That's the only thing that might make it worthwhile.

I just happened to open the Edit My account in the black box at the top of the page the other day and discovered I was very close. Two and a half years to the day! Others have done it much faster but I know little to nothing about OC'n an AMD so I don't respond very often to those questions.

herrick,
That's why I've been using these for over a year in my customer and personal builds. I like them! Conservatively! over 600 burns with two failures, both because I tried when it advised me not to! one drive failure out of about 25 drives, and it was mine! Powersupply went up in smoke while I was doing a burn! With 3 days left on the warranty, Newegg replaced it!

Russ,

he is looking for recommendations on external dvdrw drives not external hdds. I can't help as I have no experience with any ext. dvdrw drives. I would go with an internal drive I like and get an ext. enclosure for it.

BTW not that I'm argueing or want to but here in SW KS where I live, it is very flat, few trees, wind always blows and annual rainfall is under 20" so I know about dry and dusty too.

herrick,

here are some dvdrw drive enclosures http://www.meritline.com/cd-dvd-drive-ro...ernal-5-25.html

If you combined the last 7 years, it hasn't rained that much, Total! The past three years didn't total 3 inches! LOL!! The area around us looks much higher, but in the city, we get almost no rain a year. If you look it up last year was 16,48 inches, but not in the city proper. We're behind one mountain and slap up against another! We usually get Zilch! We haven't seen a heavy downpour or a thunderstorm here in about 3 years! We do get to see clouds with all sorts of lightning bolts sticking out of them as they cruise on by, but that's about it! We can see them and hear them, but only 15 to 20 miles away!

I could have sworn he said hard drive! Sorry! LOL!! Sorry herrick for the misunderstanding!

Russ

I too am looking at getting an external DVDRW soon, I'm thinking of using one of these
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductIn...roductID=723858
Trouble is, I can't find a suitable enclosure for it.
Right now I have to use an old DVD-ROM connected to a 3.5" enclosure by the very short cables, just sitting on top of it...
