when i plug in my ps2, the red light appears, but hwen i try to turn it on the red light blinks once, but the system does not turn on. Also, the adapter i am using is a 7.5V AC adapter, while the back of the ps2 says 8.5V, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any suggestions?
sorry but dbl post, but the first time i turned it on, it ran for about 5 minutes then shut down and the problem above occured. About 30 minutes later i tried and the same thing happened, it turned on for 5 minutes and shut down.
you need to change the power supply! i would recommend an oficial power suply since most non oficial i've used simply don't hold up the power.
7.5V... are you using a psone power supply (The grey one...) in a slim PS2??? anyway, judging from your description, you DO need to find yourself a new sony oficial ps2 slim power suply. If after swaping the power suply for the correct model your ps2 still refuse to boot up, them your system probably has some blown fuses in the motherboard. howhever, since you said it even worked for a few minutes, the problem probably isn't any fuses.
and doesn't mind if your system used to work before with this power supply, change it right away.
thanks! i checked and found out that the power supply i was using was the psone one. I'll be looking for a new ps2 power supply and i'll post later as to whether it worked or not.
