Im ;looking to back up games again seeing how i spent a lot of money on games recently. I got a 700012 v. I dont know anyone around me that can install a chip. So i am leaning towards the magic disk swap. I used to have it in my old ps2 but i didnt do it right. This time id like to do a great job. also my date code is 4d what ever that does to this.
1. which version do i have?
2. Is there a way to play psp games on a ps2.
3. WHere is a trusted site to get magic disk?
4. Is there a way to may be boot back ups from a memory card?
5. How do i play backup ps1 games on my ps2? only ff7 im interested in.
6. a good guide to blocking the sensors for the swap magic. So i dont have to keep my lid open.
ty if u need more info plz let me know. As of now there has to be some sort of technology that can do all this/

Well you can get a copy of swap magic off ebay also if you go to their official site they have links on where to buy it as well. I got mine off gocybershop. once you have that you can use it to install freemcboot to your memory card and use that. It's pretty much the same as a modchip just your have to use a trigger disk and the swapmagic elf there are a few faqs and tutorials around the site if you have a problem finding them i can give ya some links but that search space above the post title works great.

Unless you have a modchip where the disk boots up you need to block the sensors. With freemcboot you could also use esr which I've never really used but it works without swapping I think but you need freemcboot for it to work also you need to patch every game with the esr patcher and you can also use other elf files to play games from a usb or hdd with a fat ps2 oh and you may want to look around for a laser fix aswell i hear nearly all slims lasers die unless you fiddle with the laser somehow. I'm not completely sure ive only owned 1 slim and its laser pooed itself. also heres a video on how to block the sensors block sensors to ps2

if im not mistaken u xan use swap magic to boot the disk. Take out swap magic put in back up hit x. Bingo it works. What is the purpose of freemcboot? What i hear it takes the place of swap magic. and u can just put the back up in and bam u can boot it with mc.

yep after swap magic is used to install freemcboot you dont need swapmagic anymore. there are .elf files that take place of swap magic such as ESR, and the Swap Magic elf. using the swapmagic elf file from the memory card and a trigger disc (original game disc) you swap the trigger disc for the backup and boot that way. OR use ESR and patch all your disks with the ESR patcher and boot from there without swapping. im not sure on the compatibility of ESR though haven't used it much.

MCBoot is cool. I had swap magic for years and then got rid of everything. Here recently went and bought an old fat ps2 and loaded mcboot to mem card with esr gui. Whats better about MCboot is that you can place the backup in the ps2, start it up and the game loads straight through without having to sap disk or even load esr manually..
