PS2 SOFT MOD - Racing Game Help!

So I'll get to the point i successfully installed mcboot and softmodded my ps2 with the memory card. I have a fat ps2 and I guess the only problem i have is with some particular games. I've backed up many games and a friend had given me a backup of his game. He gave me the iso file of NFSUnderground 2 and also the iso file of Burnout Takeout. When i burned these games. the games load on my ps2 however i cant do anything the buttons are unresponsive on my controller. Every other games work, except for racing games. I'm kinda baffled. If anyone can point me to the right direction please do so. THANK YOU

That is weird.. I know its been an issue on some hard mods, but u stated its mcboot... R u using esr? Basically its freezing on the load screen? I have NFS and had problems with it, but then I rebuilt the iso and repatched and it worked fine..

no im sorry if i miss interpreted... but mcboot works fine. esr works fine. basically the problem is when i burn NFS Underground 2 or any other racing games; they load fine. however, when it gets to the main screen of the game my ps2 controller just doesn't respond.for example pressing the x button doesn't skip the short movie intro in the beginning or some of the logo's in the game your normally able to skip. it's like trying to press play on a movie dvd but you just don't have the dvd controller. but in this case; the game doesn't respond to my controller
every other game that aren't racing work perfectly fine. my ps2 controller responds to them and i can play them through.
i've tried downlaoding different iso's of the net however that doesn't work either
so im pretty much have a softmodded ps2 that cannot play racing games. which really sucks

hmm.. Ill see if I can find out why thats happening.. I havent had that problem. I made a back up of NFS underground, patching with esr gui. I made on of NFS Most wanted and Twisted metal last night and patched with esr.. all worked fine.. Ill see what i can find out

Oh another question.. What type of controller are you using? The original or 3rd party

So far this is what I have found. It sounds more like an incompatible controller issue. I know I maybe asking dumb questions but haveyou tried using a different controller.
