You need a program called Image flashing assistant. Connect a null moden cable and a network cable to the box and flash the commando image. When the box reboots push the blue button and a menu should pop up. You should be able to set your region from their. Follow the instructions boot the box again and do a scan. You should have all your channels

null cable is not absolutely nessacry
and theres no need to flash it again all hes done is copied the services.xml over what wasnt made for his box as someone who hasnt got a clue keeps telling people to do it dont see why as no-one box is in the same location

you are right null modem cable is not necessary but its quicker to flash image with it. I think sometimes its better to reflash and start again especially if people don't know exactly what they are doing.

It's quicker to just put the image in the temp directory and flash that way
You dont need a null modem cable or IFA to flash

Just received my Dbox2 from Germany (UK image Sportster)..
Done a service scan, seem to have all the channels, so I've saved the service.xml and bouquet.xml on my PC for safekeeping..
Is there a program I can use to edit the bouquet.xml so as to re-organise the order in which channels are listed, and secondly, to delete channels that I don't want, such as adult channels?..

This advice was originally meant for bhav69 who put an old image on his box by FTP method but cannot get anything on his tv now as his box seems to freeze, he cant use FTP anymore.

One more question..
Dbox2 connected to router as is xbox which contains 160gb HD and xbmc etc.. Can I (a) record tv from dbox2 to xbox HD, and (b) play video files on xbox through dbox2?
Thanks

You dont need the IP, you'll have flashed a 2x image on a 1x box or visa versa so there's no image on the box anymore, just use IFA to flash the right image and it will flash eventually.

As tossapot says you dont need the IP address of the box with Image Flashing Assistant only if you use FTP program.

If you managed to save the files to your pc then I assume you are networked to the dbox. In that case just go into internet explorer and type in the IP of the dbox ..192.168.1.xxx whatever yours may be
You'll get a web page with, amongst other things a bouquet editor. Easier to create and edit in this and can be uploaded from it too.

I have a Nokia Dbox 2 with TuxBox and a feed from telewest. Until a few days ago I was able to watch all channels. Now I can only watch very few and mostly only free to view ones. I have tried doing a service scan and get all the channels but most cannot be viewed.
The only common thing I have found is the "N" symbol in the info bar (when using the up-down arrow buttons to flip through the channels) is on for channels I cannot view.
Can anyone please tell me what this symbol means and how to fix the problem.

Hi Andy I don`t know if this will help you but here goes. I had the very same problem as you, losing channels and even after doing a rescan and only finding a total of 7 channels, I was thinking that the dbox might have gone down after only having it for about 3 weeks. I asked a mate who flashed the image and rescanned and all was well again but only overnight when a lot of the channels started to disapear again. Anyway I have coupled the dbox via scart through my yamada dvt 3000 pvr and when I watch the dbox through the pvr everthing seems to reappear and even seems to work faster ie. changing channels and what have you. You could maybe try this method and see if it helps. Finally does anyone know how I can record from my dbox onto the pvr as everthing I try seems to fail, the scart input on the pvr is in/out so it should pick up the dbox but I`m no techie so I am struggling. Good luck Andy and to everyone out there ALL THE BEST and keep this forum going as its a beauty

I have a Nokia dbox 2. I have found an image file (Sportster Pro 1.0 2xI) on a CD which the guy who sold the box to me gave me which i want to try. I have made a back-up of my current setup (Read single Partition without bootloader) and have transferd to my PC. The file size was 8,257,536 however the image I have from the CD is 8,388,608. Is this file suitable and why would there be a difference in image size.
Many thanks for any help.

They all originate from Germany as they were originally intended for use with the German cable provider "Premiere". Your best bet, imo, is to buy one from Germany from a seller on a popular internet auction site. Expect to pay around £100 plus shipping. Look out for sellers who advertise their Dbox2 as already in debug mode, with neutrino installed and in English. Also make sure you do get a cable version and not satellite. Nokia boxes tend to be the most sought-after and slightly more expensive than the Sagems (Philips brand is very rare). All 3 brands, so I believe, have the same functionality (some report Nokias are better at receiving channels in poor signal areas). Good luck!

Have you tried flashing with a different Image type. You may have put a 2xImage on a 1 chip box or 1xImage on a 2 chip box.
