well maybe not quite, it was the early 90's. I still have my 'Super Wildcard' which is almost that old.
(and to keep myself on topic, you connected the Wildcard to a pc thru the parallel port) :)

Well, seemingly, but I've used plenty of 1.44s in my time, and if I knew how to get 2.88MB out of them, I would have thanked the person that told me very much indeed!

IBM had their own format for their then new PS2 line of computers that were 2.88. BTW! That's where the PS2 connectors came into being, not with the Play Station 2! It wasn't the same format I could put on my 1.44s to make them 2.88s. Mine could be read on any 1.44 drive. Formatting the 1.44s at 1.66 seemed to work the best!

theonejrs. No its a 1.4, one of the holes is square (see through, the other is rectangle W/slide block down is solid/up see through)..Also I've never seen a 720 with HD stamp
Microsoft had a special format program to copy Windows, I'm pretty sure its the 1 your talking about (1.44 to 1.66)if U didn't have this U could not copy the 7 or 8 Disc set. Now don't waste time on correcting me on the disc amount if I'm wrong. Ya'll know what I mean. I think I've still got it somewhere

Haha yeah I know PS/2 isn't the playstation... lol
However, IIRC there were also VX120 120MB floppy disks? I remember electing the standard version over the 120 on my first PC back in 1999, and I'm glad I did, the VX120s didn't seem to take off!

rick,
those usb flash drives will work with most newer mobos as long as the pc can read it while in the bios. you might dig up a manual for the mobo and see what it says.

Here's a list of all the different floppy formats over the years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floppy_disk The VX120s you mention came out in 96. They also tried a VX240 that formated to 240MB in 97. There was also 21MB flopticals as well. The cost at the time was just too high between having to buy a new special drive and the cost per disk! I keep a Teac Dual floppy drive around because I still see 5.25" floppies a couple of times a year where I have to transfer the data from 1.2s, or even 360kb to 1.44s or 720s. I've done that a number of times, and the dual drive makes it easy as it's two independent drives in one, but it's a still very slow process! LOL!!
Best Regards,
Russ

the foxcon has alot of good reviews so i would assume that it is reliable. but you could always get a a board from biostar for $15 more.

If it's an AMD then a Freezer 7 won't work. That's why I mentioned the freezer 64! Me? I would get one and forget the Stock cooler. Less headaches! All I'm building these days for office machines is AMD. For everyday computers, you just can't beat the price. I've used the TForce boards for a while now and find them to be an excellent foundation for a general use home/office computer. You put them together and they work, every time! With a minimum of setting adjustments, you're good to go!

Russ

Yeah, thats actually a good idea! The AMD build with the 780G graphics is pretty good.
Of course when I think budget build I think E5200 and GA-EP35-DS3L which is only like 20 bucks more. But you WOULD have to buy that GFX card whic is 20 bucks more. It should OC like mad though :)

That's the whole point, these aren't being overclocked! No reason or need! Lately, the first thing a new customer asks is if I build AMDs? LOL!! I sure wouldn't be looking to overclock my Mother-in-Law's computer. Stock, it will be a whole lot faster than the Dell it's replacing! In terms of value for the dollar, AMD wins that one on the low end of things pretty good right now! Besides, $40 not spent is $40 saved! I also see the difference in price to be over $70 considering the need for a graphics card, and the higher priced MB and CPU! Away from Fantasy Island, in the real world, the majority of computers in the world, still aren't overclocked! We tend to forget that in these forums. I don't overclock customer computers, because I don't want the liability! I've made a few exceptions, but only to people with some knowledge of the workings in the computer.
Best Regards,
Russ

AMDs price cuts are absolute madness, there was a coupon code to get a 2.3Ghz Dual core at newegg for 25 dollars. If you're not an overclocker or gamer, if you can find a cheap AM2 motherboard that works with IGP, an AMD build just makes sense.
