Only if you have a mod chip. How can your wii read backups if it isn't modded? simple, you can't.

Hi guys new to the seen here but have been around computers since commodore. Learning along the way but have a few questions if anyone would be so kind as to answer for me.

I just got a wii for christmas and got the homebrew channel installed earlier this week. The firmware was already updated to the newest before I got it. From what I am reading the back up launcher will not work on mine with the new firmware. It seems that I can downgrade to an earlier firmware.

1. With the newest version of homebrew already installed with the newfimware version will it cause any problems downgrading the firmware... ie losing the homebrew channel, bricking ect.

2. Is there any plans to release a back up launcher compatable with the newest fimware or an update.

Any info would be much apreciated thanks.

If you have 3.4 firmware then you will need to go HERE and follow the first 3 steps to fix the WAD/cIOS limitation 3..4 puts in place (YOU DO NOT NEED TO DOWNGRADE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RUN THE FIX).

you have to install the wii gator wad. this will insta

as a channel so you don't need to load it from the homebrew channel. therefore you would't need to keep the sd card in to run the backups. you do need one to get the apps installed.

I got a Wii fw 3.1U. I did the twilight hack. I have the HBC installed. I tried running the Ciso installer and got a failed error. Do I need a upgrade or maybe have my files and folders screwed up?

You need to be on 3.4U then follow the guide. 3.1 is way outdated.

Thanks for the info about the fix larry. Thanks again for being so "nice" I scanned through the thread and didnt see anything about my question on the pages that I looked through so I figured I would just ask. Sometimes it is a lot quicker to ask than to scan through 100s of posts and pages of info on the web. When I didnt see what I was looking for and saw a place to ask those in the know.

I know sometimes its iritating to be asked the same question over and over again as someone who builds and repairs pcs for what seems like a lot of computer illiterate people, Ive been there. But you know what they say there are no stupid questions just stupid awnsers I just smile and try to explain it the best I can to people I know didnt have the advantage of growing with computers in an age where not many people had them. So I am sorry for bothering you fellows, and thanks again.

Too bad there isnt a central location for everything Wii homebrew with message boards, tutorials downloads ect. Would be realy nice to see something like that develop in the future.

You shouldn't ask for roms on this site....

As for your backups, have you got the backup launcher either as a channel or in your homebew channel?

You can just stick a backup disc in and launch straight through the disc channel...

Torrent sites are good for roms. Sounds to me like you didn't get cios V7 installed? Did you?

Sounds like you've been out of the loop. Get 3.4 installed first, homebrew. Then run the oct 23rd fix, then ciosv7. Search you'll find it. Then you should be fine.

Just install 3.4 and get homebrew installed. After that get the oct 23 fix installed and then install ciosv7. Should work then.

You need to install cIOS ver 7 for the gamma version to work. I don't think this guide has the updated ver 7 included.

Go HERE and download the files I have in this guide. Then run the cIOS installer again. This will install ver 7 of the cIOS over ver 6. After you do that try booting with the Gamma boot loader.
