For sure. Get an A8N-SLi series, even though you won't be using SLi, they're fabulous boards. I'm going with the SE for my next system. A good PSU should have the right connectorl if not, there are adaptors.

FISHNERD,
You may want to look into getting this adapter instead of the EPower one. It's much more flexible and can easily be bent around things in your case. It's cheaper too!

The 2 plugs are for each 12v rail to insure enough power to the video card!

Hey guys,
Have a look here:
http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp Extremely handy if your building a new system and want to know what sort of current your setup will draw,
or adding/upgrading components to an existing setup and are concerned whether your current psu is up to the job

If there's one PSU calculator I use (and there is), it's that one. It's the only one really specific enough to give you an accurate result. That's a good mobo, assuming you'll ever use crossfire functionality. Or even if you don't. The GPU is second to none.

You don't even need to flash the BIOS, just use ATi Overdrive to up the clock speeds, you may even get it slightly faster than an XTX if you get a Powercolor or Gecube version.

I can't remember what's been said about the A8N5X, I should think it's a good board though, being Asus.

FISHNERD,
By all means wait!!! for about 10 seconds and then order it from Newegg! It's $78.99 (USD)
It's an excellent MB. It's got the same chipset as an SLI, DDR400, better than average sound, a 16x PCIe slot and and dynamite LAN. I considered this MB but I don't yet own a PCIe x16 video card and I went Intel anyway! Bought an Asus P5P800-SE!
Do it now unless your old MB is under warranty. If that's the case maybe you can trade up to the better MB !!!
Attention new AMD x2 buyers. Those of you who are considering buying an AMD 64x2 CPU in the near future would do well to wait until the end of July. Check it out!!!
http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/itnews.php?tid=613657&starttime=0&endtime=0
I believe the single cores have already dropped in price but this is the first I've heard of an official price cut for the X2s.

The single-cores have indeed taken a 10-15% price-cut. And I intend on getting a Toledo core 4400+ when it happens to the dual cores. I plan on taking it up to 3.0GHz and matching conroe blow for blow. Screw DDR2! That's what overclocking is for!
I know that current generation processors are becoming obselete but they aren't becoming slow. Everyone stop losing your heads over the new tech! The top end stuff is most definitely going to be $800+. Who here has $800 for a single part... any hands? The midrange Conroes are probably going to still match the current mid-range AMDs for the most part. It's a just a new platform. Not a double in performance. The new Conroe is only going to beat out FX-60 by about 20-30%. If you overclock and FX-60 to 3.2GHz(about the speed cap) then you will still match Conroe. Not to mention the FX-62 on the new AM2 platform. The increase in processing power through the new technology will definitely insure another victory.
Intel and AMD can't really go much higher than about 3.2GHz with current(or next) generation technology. Not if you shorten pipelines atleast. This is why we have seen AMDs high-end hit a performance cap at about there. Intel, in essence, is only copying AMD's technology so they will suffer the same performance cap. There would need to be a whole revolution of the industry(and possibly a partnership of the two companies) for that performance cap to be surpassed.
And back to the motherboard. I think it's pretty sweet. In fact I bought it last week and am using it right now. It OC'd much more stabily. And I'm enjoying the 4(that's right, 4) DIMMS slots. My next move is possibly 4 512MB sticks of Crucial Ballistix because the 1GB sticks are known to fail and I don't wanna be left with only one GB of memory. My only complaint is no firewire. But I'm never going to use it anyway. I'm a gamer not a multimedia freak;)
And if anyone of you are wondering... yes, I'm an AMD fanboy:P

Lol so be it, doesn't bother me! The same goes for the price cuts, the overall benefit to the cost of the system will be quite slight on a lower-end model so I don't see much need to wait.

Just defragmented my hard drive and gained an extra 200mhz overclock!!!
.............LOL. Thats not true, but it feels 200mghz faster. For anyone that hasnt defragged for a while, do it soon. Its amazing how your computer slows down so gradually and then you defragment the drive(drives) and its like a mghz increase in clock speed!!!

If you did know what you lost... i cry for you :,(
I like to wait a long time in between each defrag... like 2 weeks anyway. Yes' it is very refreshing to have a defragged computer :)

Yeah, I defrag all three of my computers at least twice a month. All three being my Northwood Celeron 2.4GHz, my Sempron 3100+ @ 2.4GHz and my X2 3800+ @ 2.4GHz.(it's my magic number^_^)
I've never had a data loss ever on any of my machines. Sometimes things like that just happen.
I don't worry about the Celeron though. I let my mom have it and she always manages to screw it up. Then she complains to me and says I wrecked it from using it before and then won't even let me see whats wrong(who else here has parents like that?)
Anyhoo, iTunes? More like Limewire lol*looks cautiously over his shoulder for forum mods* I find it a waste to pay for music as I download and listen and if I don't like the song anymore it goes.
Besides, does iTunes have all the original FFVII MIDIs we all love? I think not!(I am a nerd, yes)

Lol, I think you're a nerd if you have FFVII midis for ringtones. That's cool though, RPG/anime fiend myself. I've never had any issues when defragging, though I've never noticed a great performance increase either.

The stock conroe has out benched the fx-62 am2.
