@theonejrs,
Looks like your having as much fun as me!!
I like your idea with the memory.
But I dont think you done yet:)
Im sure you can get higher on the fsb and up the memory voltage a tad without any trouble.Upping the mem voltage by even .1 volts really makes a difference.

I sure am!!! I see you use Sandra 2007! I went back to 2005. I don't like the fact that the results are hard to read on any screen and the really big one for me is that you can't maximize the results window. You can't read whats on a line as far as what you are comparing to and there's no slider to uncover what you can't see.
I've backed this one down to 3.80. I also bumped the DDR Refrence voltage to 2.65, changed the memory settings to 2.5-4-4-6. Runs good, numbers look good and seems quick. I've got to do some video work tomorrow so I'll see how that goes.
Just a word of encouragement. I've run my Corsair cas2 memory at 490MHz with no problems, I see you're at 458 so if you have their cas2 memory you can pretty well bet you have more room for memory speed. That is If the CPU can take the increase. I don't know very much about AMD processors in recent years All my AMD builds were socket 7 and socket A. I've got to learn more about the differences between AMD and Intel setups. My build was supposed to be an AMD Opteron 175. Didn't happen that way though!
Happy Computering,

@theonejrs,
Still going!!
I've relaxed the memory timings 2.5/4/4/10
Memory is on a 5/6 divider effectively 474mhz.
HTT is at 4x =1896mhz(default is 2000)
CPU is at 285x10 multiplier=2850mhz
Anyway heres the new benches:-)

COngrats crowy, that's looking like at least 5000+ territory, if not FX-60.
Fihsnerd, if the mobo doesn't have its own graphics chip, it won't boot without a graphics card. Mine doesn't. A test of putting the CPu in a new PC will give us the info we need. However, it does need to be compatible and you need to remove the H/S and thermal compound/pad first!

Well,looks like 2.85GHZ is where I will stop for now.
CPU temp was hitting 50-53 degrees celcius @2.90GHZ!!
CPU voltage @1.73 volts
Memory voltage @3.2 volts(that impressed me!!)
Ambient room temp @14 degrees celsius(I bought a thermometer)
With a tuniq 120 cpu cooler and some top line memory,3.0GHZ is hopefully on the horizon.

@FIHSNERD,
1.Make sure that your psu is unplugged when you try to clear the cmos with the jumper.
2.If you have 2 ram sticks try removing them and put one back in at a time in slot 1.
3.What exactly happens when you switch the computer on,does it boot at all or not?

O yeah, it boots, but nothing comes up on the screen, and i have 1 stick of ram, Crucial BTW... it is cheap, but not value ram.. and he did not reset the jumper as far as i know, but he said that that would have been easier than taking out the cmos battery..
i dono what to do.. HELP.. btw: thanx for helping me out..

@FIHSNERD,
Have you got the manual for the mainboard?
If you have,have a look at the jumper locations and look for the cmos clear jumper.Make sure the psu is unplugged and then remove the jumper from the board.It will probably be a different colour by the way(usally yellow or blue).The jumper will sit over a set of 3 pins but only be making contact with 2 of them(the centre pin and one of the others).Note which pins the jumper is located on then remove it and place it back on the opposite pin along with the centre pin.Leave it there for 3 or 4 seconds then put it back in its original position.Plug your psu back in
and keep your fingers crossed:)

@FIHSNERD,
One more thing,have a listen when the computer starts up to the beep.
This should be the same as what you used to hear when your computer was running fine.If it isnt (IE: If you used too hear 1 short beep but now hear 2 short beeps or 1 long beep or whatever,there is a problem.)Your mainboard manual should have information on bios beep codes and what they mean.Also, if your board has onboard graphics,remove your graphics card and plug your monitor into the onboard grahics socket, reset the jumper again and see how that goes.

Yeah. There are various different problems that could cause this. 14ºC in a room? No wonder it's only running at 50. Heavens above, my room's more than double that, with a deskfan and the window open, and it's only 11:25!

So in terms of clock speed, how can you compare AMD and Intel? From what I understand, an Intel running at 3.4Ghz is not as fast as an AMD running at anywhere near the same speed. For example when crowy says he OC's his to 3800+ to 2.8Ghz, what speed would that equate to an Intel? What is the difference, and how do you make relative comparisons? Thanks.

AMD started naming their product in a way to somewhat equate to Intel. From what i understand the 3800+ AMD equates to a Pentium 3.8
AMD is usin maybe 2.0 or in my case 2.2Ghz for a "processor speed" equal to Intel running 3.8 - Architecture of the chip allows one to do the same speeds with less work. That is a newbie generalization so experts please dont rip my explanation, just trying to help and let me know how to explain things better next time.

ok their are multiple ways, look at the AMD model number such as an amd 3700.. it would equate to an intel 3.6 to an 3.8. and same with the duel cores.. they are just better in multitasking...
