Hi Pugg,
Please please please can you help me? I have been struggling to try to sort out the Loading error problem for about 8 hours today and am going crazy.
I will give you the info I have seen others give you but please let me know if you need anything else.
I have the R4SDHC with a 2gb card. It is for a DS Lite. My daughter has removed the serial code from the back of the DS but the Model No is USG-001 (that prob won't be of any use - wish she hadn't removed the serial code).
The worst thing is the card was working this morning - I accidently deleted the files earlier this morning. I have tried downloading quite a few of the kernel - all different versions.
Anyway I hope you can help me before I go crazy.
The R4 card was given as a present. I believe my sister bought it in Hong Kong.

If you bought the R4 card in Hong Kong its most likely the language files should be chinese and not any others.
If you can't read chinese then you're gonna have to follow these steps:
- Go to the R4 website
- Near the top click the language 'R4DS Chinese'
- The layout would be the same so under the R4DS update it should say '更新R4 v1.18版内核'
-Once you've clicked that, go near the bottom and you will see 'R4DS v1.18' and chinese words following
- Click that and save the file.
- Unzip the downloaded file and extract everything to the computer
-Make a back up of all your games and files on the SD card just in case
- Lastly, copy all of the files you've extracted to the SD card and replace all files
Try putting the R4 back in the DS and hopefully it should work.

It works!!! On my R4 SDHC
I've tried 4 or 5 firmware up to now, include www.r4-v.com |www.r4sdhc.com | www.r4ultra.com | www.r4ds-ds.com |...
I also try to clean the contact on the R4... (I don't know if this worked)
BUT only after I USED PANASONIC SD FORMAT SOFTWARE, and then used Windows Explorer to copy firmware files to microSD 2GB Lexar, IT WORKED!
Anyone who didn't believe in the Panasonic's SD format software, should think again.

Hello Pugg.
Just wanted to publicly thank you for all of your extra effort and help in getting my ds going again. I have sent it back to my dad which is where the pressy came from and I'm getting my sister to fix it. But I also wanted to state as this is what I have done wrong.
MAKE SURE YOU FINISH WHAT GAME YOU ARE PLAYING IN THE R4 AS SOME OF THEM ARE SO SENSITIVE THAT SHUTTING YOUR CONSOLE DOWN HALF WAY THROUGH SOMETHING COMPLETELY STUFFS UP THE THREADS!!!!!!!!!

i finally found you lol,
Okay, so I bought this DS SDHC Revolution Upgrade card. And I've tried everything. All formating and firmwares between 1.18 to 1.25 and all I get when I turn this DS on is
Menu ? screen right after the DS startup screen.
Its all white with Menu? in red and in a red box.
What is going on....

you must make sure where to download the kernel.(official website is the bset one)
Is your R4i is r4i ultra?or the red r4i sdhc?

hey, if you r4i is the red r4i sdhc then you need to
-download the kernel here http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/indexe.asp.
-decompress all the files
-copy all the files to your microSD TF card
-it's ok now and you can strat to play games

To all those out there that I have helped with their or their family's plight in fixing the DS problems, I am greatly honoured to see everyone sending in reply's thanking me.

HELP !
feel like i've been a fool buying an ;
R4i upgrade revolution and am using a 2gb sdhc card
with my dsi
i have tried downloading various firmwares including the 'official one' from the website printed on the back of my card -
www.r4i-sdhc.com
but i get stuck on the screen where it says "loading" on the top screen (I'm not stuck on the 'menu' that others are stuck on)
please help me
i sold my DS to get a DSi and this card...but I'm a bit depressed about it now...got a 9yr old, an 8yr old and me (a 38yr old !) all wanting to use the roms we have !!!!

hi i had the same problem. i fixed it by going to www.r4-v.com, changing the language to english and downloading it the only program they had. it seems these types of r4 sdhc aren't the real ones. i suspected mine was a fake for a long time. i then unzipped the file and put directly on the sd card (NOTE: don't put the files into a file in the sd card!!!!!!!!!) hope this helped :P

Hi,
Need help please. stuck on a loading screen. R4 was working fine untill i accidently deleted one file from software,last week. I know it's my fault. Also tried to replace that file, but no joy.
Tried many softwares from mostly every site. still stuck.
I asked help from pugg. waiting for his reply.
it's 8gb hdsc sandisk micro from r4 ultra. (I tried software in every language from www.r4ultra.com). Don't know what to do?
please help.....................I AM GOING MAD

Been a reader here a long time, first post.
Hope someone can help.
Got the R4. Screen was freezing on the load screen. Tried a Jillion upgrades, finally found the oringinal mini-CD that came with the R4, formatted my SDcard and re-loaded that software.
Got past the Loading Screen Freeze, but my games always seem to freeze!
Any help?

what SD card are you using?
There is differences between the SD cards you use for the DS and the versions that get loaded to it.
Some versions do work on the DS but freeze as you have described.
This is down to the version only accepting certain games and the newer the game the version will have trouble.
What R4 do you have (what did the box say it was?
Does the R4 have a small screw on the back where the Pins are?
When you push the R4 into the slot, does it slide in easy, does it clcik in or do you feel you have to push it in even though it will go in?
I am assuming your DS is a DS Lite.
What does the serial code on the back begin with (UG, UE or other).
What colour is the DS?
I can send you some versions if you send me your email address.

Pugg,
SanDisk Micro SD HC 4GB
No longer have the box.
Small screw on the back in the lower middle.
Card slides in until the last 2 mm or so, then I push it a little. I don't think it click, just feels like it "seats" nicely.
DS Lite Back doesn't have a SN, but the small writing sez Model No. USG-001.

Hello,
I have an R4i-SDHC for a blue dsi. I have downloaded the kernel indicated on the website (www.r4i-sdhc.com version 1.07b) in the root of my SD card and it loads fine to begain with, but once I try to open a game or file I get an error that states "extension memory was not found" and then when I try to boot a game it states that there was an error in the moonshell and the aplication is halted.
I am using a 4gb sdhc kingston car and I have formated it in fat32. I have also tried uses this in a black dsi, and a classic ds however it has the same error for all of these formats. I have also tried using a 2gb SD kingston card but still no dice and i have formated it both fat32 and fat. I'm wondering if it is an issue with this current update, the r4i-sdhc card, or is it the sd card.
If anyone has any ideas please email me at *email removed*.
