I doubt it, most games detect modchips, so sorry, no. That's why I went for Swap Magic.

Didn't you see what I said?

If games detect modchips and don't let you play, then without swap magic, there's no way you can play copies online.

Jaskaran, you quoted only part of what I stated. I said :
Quote: If games detect modchips and don't let you play, then without swap magic, there's no way you can play copies online.
Obviously you have to patch DNAS IDs, but even if you do, you can't play online with backups of most games with a chip on. That's it. If you have swap magic, then you can play most games. But with a chip on, you can't.

actually yes you can. you can do it with just about every online game. you just have to make sure that your mod-chip or what ever you are using supports online play.

if i get a -402 error code when going online with an original game even when my chip is off might this have something to do with me changing my ps2's machine ID and link ID to NTSC?

it depends what region the game is... if its a NTSC game you cannot play online with a PAL region ps2 system, if its a PAL game you cannot play online with a NTSC ps2 system... so you have to pay attention what Region your ps2 is set to and what the game region is... you might have messed something up...
and some chips disable themselfs after the game is booted... you have to get everything checked out...

Right, lets clear up a few things;
1. Once you patch a game with the correct DNA$ ID, you don't necessarily have to disable your chip, as DNA$ no longer detects it.
2. If you're changing your PS2's Internal IDs with Machine ID Changer, you MUST make sure you have changed it to the same console version as your own, as indicated in the partial console ID list.
3. Once you've changed your IDs to a different region (say PAL to NTSC), so long as you've done it as outlined in the instructions in the console ID list, version for version, you will no longer get an 880 region error & will connect to the US server as you would with a PAL server. If you still get an 880 error, then you've not done the formula correctly, or have changed with the wrong PS2 model version.
4. Also, once you've correctly changed the PS2's IDs, you will NOT need to change back to play games from your own region. You will be able to play games from BOTH regions, as you will of created a PAL/NTSC Hybrid (assuming you've changed IDs from PAL to NTSC or vice versa)
Always 1st with 100% working PS2 Online Game DNA$ IDs!!

PAL 30003R for a US 30003R. If there isnt one listed, use the nearest available, or an unknown
