1. You would need to change your PS2's internal region ID to Japanese using Paradox's Machine ID Changer, but can only do so if you have a 'fat' PS2 (v1 - v7), any other version won't work.
2. You'd need to patch the image with a JAP Disc ID, which it's very rare to come across.
3. Once you've negotiated the 1st 2 points successfully, you need to hope that; (i) Its free to play, cos a lot of JAP games are 'Pay-To-Play', and (ii) The game's not got a server-side region check to make sure you are indeed playing in a JAP territory.
In conclusion; its really not going to be worth the trouble & too much hassle.

Actually, yes they will. Your PS2 will be able to play JAP games online (assuming theyre not pay-to-play or region checked) and also the region your PS2 was originally, which I assume is NTSC/US, since you enquire about that in the 1st place. What you create by changing Machine ID is actually a Hybrid of your original region & the one you change it to, hence the reason I can play BOTH NTSC & PAL games online no problem.

I could most likely figure it out by looking at forums. My cuzin has a fat PS2 with disc read error, i could use ps1 game memory card exploit to load USBAdvance on the ps2 (which I already have on my memory card) (im not sure what version ps2 though.. =:/ ).. he can't give it to me because his dad probably wont let him cuz his dad payed like 50$ for it, think I might break it even though it's already broken and im gonna make use of it.. My cuzin does not play ps2 and never wants too (he has a 360) and does not want to get a PS2. They should just give it to me so I can get online on PAL games. >:(

Alright, I was just gonna ask for 2006 FIFA World Cup DNAS, because apparantly you need to patch it before playing, regardless of online or offline play but that has been taken care of thanks to PS2Menace "Fifa World Cup Germany NTSC, XX XX 01 30 DC" (thanks for that) although I believe the game is officially called "2006 FIFA World Cup" which is why I couldn't find it before....
However, since I don't play games online this leads to my next question: Is there some kind of list somewhere of all the games that need to be patched, regardless of playing online or not?
If this has been posted previously and has somehow evaded my searching efforts I apologize....
I appreciate any response(s)....

You only need to patch games that are Online enabled. If your not sure if it's online, before you burn it get the dnas patcher and scan the ISO for DNAS. And if it does have a dnas to be patched come here and get the id, Or request it. Games that came out when PS2 was first released don't have DNAS, games go online without being patched.. Every game that have came out between lets say 2002 - Now , have DNAS and need to be patched.

So,_FuRiOuS_(or anyone else), are you saying that if I dont want to go online, I don't have to path the DNAS? or are you saying that every game that has the DNAS security needs to be patched so that it will work regardless of whether you want to go online or not? Because I read somewhere that certain games (2006 FIFA World Cup for example) need to have their DNAS id to even work offline....

If you're not going to play online, then you don't need to patch the DNA$. The game will still work without it for all offline modes.

Despite what any one will tell you. It is better to patch the game anyways. This will ensure Full working status wether you use online or not. As for Ace1's comment on No you don't need to if you're not going to use online. This is NOT 100% and I can tell you I've helped many ppl on My forums and Other Major forums with this same problem. They COULD NOT get the game to work ENLESS the game WAS patched for online. In the End it only takes a few Sec's to patch one and Save DVD's then having to Remake another DVDe cause it wasn't patched and didn't work.

When I discovered about DNA$ patching, I was like "oooooh." I had like 20 games that needed the patched because I like to get downloads from online and (I have been trying but without success) play online. I got really sad cause I had just spent the rest of my money buying my girlfriend some stuff (which is worth it in the end 'cuz I love her). Luckily I had forgotten about my mom's stash of DVD-R's that she uses on blockbuster movies (yes, my family doesn't like to pay >.<) so I took them and got about 5 games patched. Well, just to point out the message of this story; "Do your gaming research before you waste the damn DVD-Rs on methods of patching you are guessing on, and if a game has online capability for even just downloads then you better patch that shiz or you're gonna regret it later on if you are reading this thread!"

Can someone please confirm that " XX XX 01 30 DC " are the right DN@S for 2006 Fifa World Cup. Also, I have heard that this game needs some extra patching, could someone please elaborate on this? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, thats the DNAS. It doesn't need "extra patching", it needs rebuilding.
