The router shouldn't be able to tell that you have a second network adapter installed in your PC. Setup the NIC attached to the Gamecube as per the tutorial. The one going to the router should be using an IP address that is not in the same network as the Gamecube IP. To help better, what IP does the NIC to your router currently use?

the guide really helps, but for some reason i have tons o questions.

1.) Can i just unplug my ethernet cable from my modem, and hook it up to the gc?

2.) When the cables are connected, and PSO is on, is the computer supposed to show that there is an active connection?

3.) Do i need a router or something? cuz this is what im using:
-Gamecube
-Laptop
-Ethernet Cable
-Mario Party 4 (its in a .gcn)
-PSUL 1.1
-Paradox GC Disc Server
-BBA

4.) i have more questions. i just dont remeber them. heh ^_^"

thanx to whoever helps me

also, i kind of didnt want to read 15 pages of help so i kind-of just put all questions together

Hmm.. I should make 1...

1) If the cable is running directly from your PC to your modem then it is likely a crossover cable and it will work if you disconnect it from the modem and run it to the Gamecube but ONLY if it is a crossover cable.

2) Your PC will only show a connection when you start an online game in Phantasy Star Online. This can be either an actual online game or starting up for streaming to/from the PC. Otherwise, your PC will not show the status as connected even when PSO is running.

3) If you use a crossover cable as described above ( 1) ), you do not need to use a router. Simply run the cable from the network adapter in your PC to the Gamecube.

You can connect the Gamecube and any PC's to the router using patch cables but you will have to make sure all of your PC's use 192.168.1.x addresses in order for everything to work. Note that during streaming other PC's connected to the router may have trouble browsing the Internet or each other if they share resources and also make sure that the address 192.168.1.32 isn't being used by another PC as how you have to statically assign it to the Gamecube.

Umm... that shouldn't need to be true. The problem here is, if your router, and your home PCs are on 192.168.0.x (as opposed to 1.x), and your PC for streaming, and your Gamecube are on 1.x, each little mini-network should be able to talk amongst themselves (the 0.x talk to 0.x and 1.x talk to 1.x). Which means you should be able to stream just fine through the router, but if you want internet access through the same connection, that's the tricky part.

Some routers are funny about handling multiple subnets on the same internal interface. I've heard some people say that they could do it and others have said that there were problem with the router not knowing how to route the packets to/from the additional subnet.

you always need a crossover cable if you are running a pc network card direct to the gamecube, ethernet doesnt cut it...

Well my router IP is 192.168.1.100 but I have not bought the second ethernet card yet.
If I buy the ethernet card please list exactly what I need (including the cables cause I don't know what crossover and patch cables are!)haha.

I just went into a PC shop and asked for one.. but if you are looking to buy a crossover cable it has the colours reversed atone end of the plug whereas a normal ethernet cabela has two identical ends...

KenkaiRyu:

Start a new thread and describe what you are trying to do please. It's getting kinda confusing having to read back through this thread to figure out what people are talking about. I don't fully understand your situation enough to troubleshoot your issue.

No, there is no known solution to the 10Mbit limit on streaming as of yet.

There is no STABLE known solution to the 10mbit cap.

I've had games run at 100mbit, using that fix (it's stupidly tricky to set up), however although games load insanely fast, it seems to trip over its own feet and crash out within 10 minutes of being into any game.

I'm hoping this isn't a stupid programming glitch with the guy that coded the fix, hopefully soon enough somebody else will take a stab at it.

I seem to remember calculating the bandwidth between the Gamecube's disc drive and the processor based on the drive's read speed and came up with a figure of around 24Mbit/sec. which is obviously slightly less than 1/4 the 100Mbit/sec. the ethernet adapter is capable of. It is quite possible that the Gamecube simply can't handle receiving game data faster than 24Mbit/sec.

It shouldnt matter about the read speed on the dvd drive, because we could create a virtual rom just for streaming ;)

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're trying to say. Do you mean to somehow stream a modified BIOS/Firmware to the Gamecube to possibly alter it's behavior to somehow read mini DVD-R's?

Icemonkey: I meant firmware to make the drive multi region, make the broadband adapter stream faster, and so on..

To kirbyGuy: it doesnt matterabout the size of the little dics, the gamecube CANNOT play mini dvd's yet. The only way it could is with a mod-chip.. the only point of putting games onto any removable storageisto save space on your computers hard drive.

Can't someone make self-boot discs for the GC like they did for the DreamCast?
