Quote: where do i take a blownn PSU back cosair or where i bought i from.
Call who you bought it from, I'm pretty sure they will exchange it for you. tell them that since it's brand new that you expect them to pay the shipping both ways. It can't hurt! LOL!! After all it's not your fault they sent a defective product and you shouldn't have to pay extra for it!
Best Regards,
Russ

Well Folks,
It turns out that my E6750 has bit the dust! All of a sudden when I would try to open any file I got File Corruption Error messages. Plunked a Brand New, never used D-940 in it and all works well again. It would still Freeze and lock up, but no error messages. No temperature or voltage problems and it did the same thing with 3 different sets of memory. All passed Memtest86 and Installed XP-Pro SP-2 without the .dll errors I was getting with the E6750. No Hassle with the RMA at all. Last time they wanted everything but my shoe size! This time they didn't even ask for a copy of the invoice! A week or so and I'll have another Brand New E6750 and be totally back in business again. Glad I didn't sell the d-940 now. It makes a good backup! LOL!!

navskin,
Depending on the room temperature, your temps look good to me!

spamual,
Nice pix there buddy. Bet you're having some fun with that new rig. :)
navskin,
What progie are you using for your temps? Is it Asus Probe? I like that one for the ASUS mobos. ;) The reason that I ask is your cores seem a little off compared to the cpu temp but NO big deal really. :) Nice build btw. ;) And yes contacting the retailer at this point is the thing to do. ;)

Be careful there! It does not work for all Asus motherboards. No Big! It only comes with MBs that support it! You just get a message that the MB doesn't support it. Just thought you would like to know that!

Russ

That's very unusual, I think that's the first case of a faulty Corsair PSU I've read about on afterdawn.
Spam: Congrats on the new build, but that front fan controller is hideous.

@spamual,
Yes the Pioneer DVR-216K is a good ODD but IIRC it doesn't bitset DVD+R discs and you have to use patched f/w if it's available. NOT sure as I don't have one and they are fairly new. ;) Just for giggles you should get a Lite-on or Sony/NEC/Optiarc AD-7200S/A for that ability. I know that you play some games but I'm not sure you use your ODD to burn images or not. ;) Something to think about at least. ;)
@Russ,
I think his mobo supports that progie, of course I could be wrong as I don't have it and I'm too lazy to look it up right now. :P

sammorris,
Quote: Russ: Did you downclock it?
I assume you are asking about the E6750, and the answer is yes. I tried everything. I slowed it down to 2.0GHz and it still wouldn't load XP-PRO from the SP-2 version and a lot of things I tried to open with it said the files were corrupt. As soon as I put the D-940 in it, it's worked without any flaws or glitches, even overclocked! I'm pretty sure it has something to do with disc access. I can take the same file from my Jump drive and copy it to the desktop and then it works. After I changed the CPU, it read all the supposedly "corrupt" files and installed them perfectly. Before, you couldn't open the folders that contained them. This problem has been popping up more and more over the last couple of days. Even the guy from Intel agreed that the problem was most likely the processor! What would happen is after a day and a half to two days, XP would no longer load. It gave an error message, saying that the "Config" file was corrupt, and suggested you try to repair it with the original install Disc! Something that rarely works at all because upgrades change the structure of the original install. Even if you turn off the automatic upgrades, they will force you into it eventually by stopping things from working or stop them from working properly. I wouldn't let it install the upgrade for IE, because I never use it, and it still forced it on me anyway! You can only get away with telling them no for just so long, and it will eventually do it anyway! Whether you want it or not!
My Hotmail was that way. I didn't want to upgrade it because I liked the way it was, and one day it "told me" that it was going to upgrade when I shut down, and there's nothing you can do to stop it. You can only select to shut down without upgrading so many times, and then it will no longer give you that option, and do it anyway! Firefox 3 was the same way! I kept saying no because I liked FF2. One day when I closed FF, it gave me a message that it would install FF3 the next time I opened FF2! Hotmail was even sneakier than that. It cut off my e-mail so I couldn't open anything. My choices were either upgrade or get a new e-mail client. I even went so far as to open a gmail account, but gmail sucks here in the US. Spam messages out the Wazoo! Little or no porn, but tons of deals special for you! The "Delete Forever" button is a joke! All the free merchandise with participation required in the fine print crap! I just checked today after talking to Gina on the phone and in less than a week, I had 187 spam messages to delete. I only deleted them all last Friday! I doubt that I've had 187 spam messages in 5 years with Hotmail!
The computer is running just fine now. I even did a DVD with it with no problems. I could leave the computer on all the time but that wastes energy. besides, the LEDs for the power and HDD are so bright, I couldn't sleep with it on. I block them with one of my Satellite speakers if I leave it on overnight downloading something large! The CPU has always needed more volts than it should have, and I've had to increase it a little bit every month or so. I was at 1.49v, with 1.50v being the maximum, so I knew I would have to replace it soon anyway. I believe that I've discovered what Electro Migration actually does! LOL!! It also had my HDDs seeking almost all the time, and that was getting annoying as the DeathStar is loud. All of these problems disappeared with the change of CPU! Everything else is the same. It can't be a power issue with the MB as the D-940 draws twice as much watts as the E6750. Time will tell!
Best Regards,
Russ

If you were born in '89 yup ;). BTW nice system (and cooling). My next build will most likely have water or phase cooling so I'm starting my research now since I don't know much about either right now.
