rick5446 I've done 75 DVD 75 covers and 48 CD's and 48 cd covers and misc. printing and is just about due to change the black cartridge the rest of my color carts run a prtty much equal amount. I'll run 11/2 black to 1 set of color. Thats the same on the 220 and 340. I set both of these up to I believe Alkohols settings when I got them. Chris

Edit Just going back to the beginning of the thread and i see a lot of people use yellow and black more. I looked at my settings and I have the yellow set for more than the rest and it runs equivalent to the rest of the colors. Now I'm curious if it's the printers or the set ups on the printers we're using.

cincy rob: I'd guess DVD Shrink should be able to work with mini-dvds,just have to reduce the backup target size to 1.3/1.4 gbs??.It would have to be a small movie.

A guy I work with loves those little mini dvds because they fit in his pocket. I never really had a use for them.

Hi all....

How reliable is the new Epson Stylus Photo R260? Epson has it on sale right now for $79.99.... (does it give disc tray problems?)

Or should I just go to ebay and pick me up an R200, R220, R300, R340?

What would you guys recommend me? I would like to print on the HUB also.

And on regular silver or white media the ink smuges? does it smuge even if its cured after 48 hours?

Thank you all....

ANSWER..Pretty sure all the printers are going to give minor problems W/disctray after about a MON..Just have to give it a little push on entry & little pull on exit.Depending on how many discs U print..I print about 10 a day..Just keep it close to your computer

Or should I just go to ebay and pick me up an R200, R220, R300, R340?
ANSWER...Allthe epsons are great for printing to Disc..Buy the best bargain

Ink Smudges?

It could be the ink or media,or even both.

Mine-R200- are dry to the touch in minutes, but I still leave them set a couple hrs.

Printable media?

Verbatim,Taiyo Yuden,Maxell hitachi-Inkjet Printable,Full Hubs,white glossy,silver shiny. The white matte have a dull finish. The shiny's give a very distinct cover-almost a 3D look.

Beware of prodisc and other brand names.

I gotta wait for my suppy of Hitachi maxell FH, matte discs and Ty-G02 reg hub shiny disappear, then it's full hub glossy time-for both white and shiny.

Here's a few of mine:

saugmon

That is a good pic for comparison... (thank you)

The shinny (silver) disc it's great for that rainbow effect.
The white just brings out all the colors out solid.

I'm considering of getting TY watershield glossy white full hub.
But also the TY silver full hub cd's look mighty sexy but I'm worried about them smudging.

I'm debating still if I should get the R200 or the R260. (I know ink is more expensive for the R260 even generic ink.)

By the way... I like your frog.

That's what I'd get next when my supply runs out. I loaded up last year at wal-mart.They had the white/matte white full hub hitachi maxells dirty cheap. These maxell hitachi are near identical to my verbatim full hubs-very sweet!!!!!!

White/Matte: My lighter covers are disappointing. They'll look pretty faded. The one in my pic I posted looked ok,but it's faded.

Lighter covers,I'll slap them on shiny's or lightscribe. Now the darker covers look pretty good. Glossy, even better covers!!!!

That shiny disc in that picture wasn't very good.I couldn't locate a really good cover for that flick. The color really shows up with a good dowloaded label. My #1 cover site is letting me down. All the latest covers are foreign, and no new stuff since 2-8-07.

The R-200's are gone. There might be some rebuilt ones on the net.
There's some R-220's out there, sams club, staples, bestbuy. Staple's clear them out from time to time.I picked my dad up the R-220 for $50 at staples a couple years ago.

I have used the R300 for a couple of years and had very good results but have just switched over to the Canon ip4300 with very good results. That is another option you have and Staples here in Canada is selling them for $149. I have found the print quality to be better than that of my Epson R300 with absolutly no disk tray problems.

ok guys your the pros here on the epson printers.
i have the R320. have had it for about 6 months now.. im am into my 2nd set of carts. ive used about a 1/4 of the black and yellow, out of the second set.. no biggy... i just bought some replacement carts from meritline.. got 12 carts 2 sets. thought they were the ridisc carts.. but half were ridisc and the other half are G&G.. are these any good or am i going to have problems with them?

ive sent a PM to Alkohol about his settings for the printer. ChrisC586 mentioned up in a earlier post about Alkohols setting's beeing real good as far as saveing ink... does anyone know of the settings and what they are.. i have never messed with the printer since i have had it other than changeing out carts...any help would be appreciated.

@rick

Yeah I thought so too about the unopened ink. I don't use that much. I've got a cyan print head slightly clogged on my Canon pixma, using abacus' generic inks. Removed printhead and tried cleaning with alcohol and air slightly better.

@cincyrob

The generic is so cheap for my Canon I use the best print setting , because at $1.59 a cart = free ink.

You'll probably run out of black and yellow first, no matter what settings you use. I always run out of yellow first. That's because the only printing I use my R200 for is printable dvds, dvd covers, and occasionally a photo or two. Regular pages of type get printed out on the HP printer. That conserves my black ink, in my R200, a little. :o)

garmoon..Don't know about the ink for your printer, but so far I've had good luck with their ink.But here of late I'VE been getting my ink frm Meritline, its been less expensive..But keep in mind nothing is going to look as good as the original.A copy is always a copy. All in all I'm happy with what can be done

YA might try letting the printer run through its charge & or clean cycle about a 1/2 doz times in a row see if that helps.Might be like a blood clot.Did U by chance try a different cartridge?

oh yes changed both the problem colors. I have it about sorted now. Is the ink you're using that OA100 brand. Meritline sell BC-6 carts for less than $1.59each? I'll have to check that out. Especially if different generic and cheaper.

Generic inks from Meritline or Abacus look stunning when used with Taiyo Yuden Watershield Media. The high gloss finish actually looks better than original DVD media. The blacks are richer and the overall look is superior. High resolutions scans + Epson R200 series or R300 series + Generic Inks from Meritline or Abacus + Taiyo Yuden Watersheild Media = The best looking backup. I also use other printable media including shiny silver and regular Taiyo Yuden printables and although they look great too, the Taiyo Yuden Watersheilds, a bit pricey IMO, provide the best looking backup.

I just bought the R260 from BestBuy for $79.00.... now it's time to order some TY WaterShield media...

Everyone here has there own opinion of where to buy generic ink online.
From what it looks like it I'm going to buy it from Meritline! am I making a good choice?

This is going to be sweet!
Finally no more sharpie with my ugly handwriting...

I started to purchase the 48 pack from Meritline being it was .99 cents per cart on sale with the discount code but I think they added the $20 discount for the carts to the price of shipping when I went to checkout.
The shipping was $27.xx for UPS ground, about $20 higher than it should be, 48 carts isn't all that much weight.
I really don't need any colored ink at this time. I print lots of shipping labels with black ink only, wish there a good deal on just black carts.

No, but it will take a bigger box, to put them all in. They don't only go by actual weight, but also by the amount of space the package takes up. They call it DIM (dimension size). They could probably get two smaller boxes, in the space your one box takes up. They have a formula for figuring the cost, according to dim weight. Whichever way they make the most money (actual weight or dim weight), is how the sender will be charged. Therefore, how you'll be charged.

I used to work for DHL as a courier. So, I know how they do it. They all (DHL, UPS, FedEx) do it this way. You think that was expensive? Have them send it "Next Day Air"! :o)
