Hi Everyone
Can someone explain something to me
A while ago the Movie assoc closed a whole bunch of sites, but now some have reappeared. There is tvtorrents.com, seems to be good, is it reasonably safe to download from this site. Also why are all the Torrent Pay sites never hassled they have been there from the start, and not touched?
I love Bittorrent, but am a bit nervous to start downloading tv again. Standard UK Tv drives me to insanity
Cheers

First of all I have to tell you that in life before you attempt do anything, you must first do research of what the consequences are of what ever your goin to do. But since your asking, absolutely nothing can happen to you, except if the authorities come knocking on your door and your room is half full of ripped DVD's and games. The fine you will pay will depend on the amount of warez you have. The torrent protocal is the same as P2P, in other words your still sharing and not selling, and everyone has got the right to give what they have to other people. The authorities are after those people who are the creators of these sites, they won't waste their time in catching everyone like me and you. Like the saying goes "they let the little fish go, to catch the big fish later!" and that's why the sites are being shut down. I hope this helps.

There is no need to use a pay site as the other sites host the same files. All that will happen is you will become more likely to get caught out, as your details are logged on the host sites server. Take a look at what happened to Lokitorrent. They sold out in the end, and of cause all the regietered users names were handed over as a bargaining chip to divert where the hammer would fall. But of course regardless of what the authorities think, we only ever seek to use bittorrents to transfer files with no copyright attached to them, as we like to share our own material, its just such a shame that all that other copyrighted material such as software and films gets hosted on the same sites:)

Yeah i would advise against signing up to pay sites or any signing up wether free or not, just to be on the safe side. But thats my opinion.
Also if this ISNT allowed please let me know, i will remove it as fast as i can:
I read somewhere else on aD about http://www.bugmenot.com and you put in the site and it gives you the logins for it so you dont have to register for all the stuuf :)

hey does anyone know of any good torrent trackers for PS2 games? I mean communites who have rules so there are good seeder/leecher ratios. I am currently using torrentleech.org, torrentbytes, and blackcats-games. I've been trying to sign up with torrentit for AGES(an invite would be much loved.)

Downloading copyrighted material is illegal. I haven't heard of any arrests but there has been several cases of out of court settlements. It has happened in spot places around the globe. U.K., U.S.A., Australia, Asian countries are some that come to mind.
As for the risk and if they're not safe...well, they are safe, it's normally the risk you take in downloading illegal material that isn't safe for you.
I hope I didn't make a statement above to persuade you one way or another, I just wanted to give my input on your question.

thnx for the reply....yea so dling copyrighted stuff is obviously illegal...hmm really complicated stuff..i know many many ppl all around the world download "illegal" stuff...sooner or later, bit torrent will gather more attention from the RIAA like p2p programs did, and thats wat im afraid of. but considering the risks of dling im starting to get real afraid...do u happen to know the chances of getting tracked? i mean i read this forum and they are saying that the tend to go after the "big fish" so yea..

I'm not gonna tell you to go ahead and download or not.
Several reports say they are targeting the sites, the site authors, etc...in other words the people who have initiated the illegal use and the mass supporters "Uploaders and Seeders". On another note, I remember hearing about a grandma and a 12 year old kid (different cases) that were being charged.
So I say this, I don't think the Govt. cares who they get as long as they feel they are sending a message to you, the public. So don't download illegal material if you don't wanna get caught.

First off, it's not the government, it's the copywrite holders. Secondly, companies like HBO are going out there and specifically putting bad data out there in some of them to make it much more difficult to download their programs in bittorrent.
The risk for bittorrent is just as prevelant as it is for other p2p programs (there are some safety measures you can take but I'm not going to talk about them).
All you have to do is ask yourself this: Is downloading this worth the risk of a potential law suit?
-Isn't it great to wake up and not know what day it is?
-"Pull my finger" is one thing you'll never hear a leper say.

You are right it's the copyright holders making the suits and taking people to court BUT it is the GOVT. the judges, lawyers, etc. that persue the people for prosecution and basically decide their fate.
So like I was saying, if the GOVT. is willing to prosecute old women and children, they'll get anybody.
DON'T DO IT IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE CONSEQUNCES OF GETTING CAUGHT!![/bol]

I must have done, let's just say lots of files, and i have always got 'what it says on the tin!' never got fake files. people have said of them, but i have never got them.

most definetely. i still spend £50 a month on music, and that is because
i can browse and listen to them first on limewire and the like.
Happy Downloading Troopers ;)

I have a D-Link Di-604 router. When I go in to change my settings to enable faster torrent Dl's, it says trigger port, trigger type, public port, public type. I have no idea for the trigger port, but trigger type is tcp and udp, public port is 6881-6889 and public type is tcp and udp. Does anyone know if these configurations are right. I dont have a port specified for trigger port and I think I need one. Does anyone know how to setup a D-Link DI604 router.

Thx... I'm using Azureus and after port forwarding i get only about 40kb max. I have cable but dont know my max kb/s. I have global uploading set to 0 which means unlimited. should I change it to something else. It says in that guide that uploading will determine your downloading.
