OK Guys, what am I doing wrong. I just managed to brick my psp 2 times, trying to upgrade to 3.71M33.
So I unbrick it using the pandoras battery. Put on the 3.51M33, then the 3.51-4M33 withouth a problem.
Then I follow the steps (copy the files to PSP\GAME, kernel is on 3.51...), start installing 3.71M33 the instaler comes to 100% and then says to press X to restart my psp, I press x and my psp shuts down and utomaticly turns back on but the screen is black. If I turn it off and back on after that manualy still nothing happenes. I have a brick.
Does anyone else has this kind of problem? Or have any idea what can I do.
The first time i upgraded from 3.51-3M33 (about a week ago), to 3.72HX, the same thing happened. Is there a possibility that something is "wrong" with my PSP? I'm thinking bacuse I have the one with the TA-082 motherboard. But that shouldn't be a problem right?

man there is alot of new things out there since i have been out of the homebrew scene. to bad i smashed my psp with my foot onto the concrete.

I have a dumb question on upgrading from 3.40 OE-A to 3.52 M33. In the readme files it says if you have OE custom firmwares to:
1 - If you are running any OE custom firmware ***ONLY*** copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/" folder and use it.
I don't have the "GAME150" folder in my PSP directory. I created one and put the M33CREATOR in that folder then went to GAMES/memstick and all I saw was corrupted file.
When I move the "kxploitpatcher" files to the PSP dir I got to GAMES/memstick and see the patch.
THe question is since I don't have the "GAME150" folder should I assume that it is a 1.50 firmware and I should run the kxploitpatcher?

Oh yea and another thing why I think that somthing is with my model of the PSP. I upgraded my friends psp (the one that I keep using to make my Pandoras battery :)) to 3.71M33-3 without a problem.
And his ofcourse hasnt got the TA-082 motherboard if this matters.

OK, I had been on 3.52m33 for a while, with no update at all (m33-2,-3,-4) and so i followed the instructions to upgrade to m33-4 and my psp went through with the update, but didn't actually update it - i went back to check on system information and it still told me me that i have the normal 3.52m33 cfw. I've tried the m33-4 update about 4 or 5 times now, and i've also tried the m33-3 update to no avail. I don't understand what's going wrong, so does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

Never mind, it may have been the 8GB mem stick i was using, put the update on the 1GB mem stick and it finally worked.

just backup your memstick then format it,that should give you the folders you need or you can put the needed folders in PSP yourself

rhinogolf: i'd say its pretty damn good......got it at a fairly cheap price at the time too and so far nothings messed up on me apart from trying to update, which is why i keep my 1GB card around. Although, the storage does come up to about 7.5GB not something im really bothered about. I wasn't aware there were any problems with it anyway, and overall id give it a 9/10

I have used despertar_cementerio version 3 on a PSP Slim 3.71, its said install ok press x to shutdown the psp. Than i replaced the pandora battery for a normal one, then turn on the psp slim with 3.71 M33 firmware, it doesn't show the menu anymore ony the XMB background with the date/time and then it shuts down!
What can i do to fix this??

OK i figured it out, you must just format FLASH1 in Recovery Mode!

are u sure its 371.PBP already??or u can juz try rename it to 371 only...

Okay excuse mefor being old and dense but I have some questions that I have probably been answered upteenth amount of times already.
Itws been a while since I've looked at my psp and I see Dark Alex is back. I am still on 3.40oe-a.
Now if I read the instructions right I have to upgrade to 3.52 then to install th eupdates to 3.71 m33 right.
Now I still want to play mostly my old ps1 games on here and a handful of new ones as they come out.
I can still play ps1 games no problem right?
what other benfits to upload all the way.
why should I use this popsloader that I keep reading about with the 3.71 but no explanation as to why I need it.
aAnd wwhat is this 1.50 kernel? Is that to play homebrew like the nes/snes/genesis emulators? can i not play anything without it installed.

and is there a cbr/cbz reader for psp yet? (off topic I know)

Ok, i have downgraded to 1.5 well.
updated to 3.52, all went well, but when it finished and goes back to the XMB
i check in system setting and it seems i am still on version 1.5
Whats wrong?
