i have recently decided that i want to upgrade to 3.71 m33 since i havent been able to play a majority of new isos. i have 3.03 oe-c and its been a while since i have modded my psp since i have been so used to 3.03 oe-c. the problem is, is that i am unsure if the current themes and xmb changes i have made to my psp in 3.03 oe-c will cause a brick when while i am trying to upgrade. will my isos/xmb changes effect the upgrade process at all? sorry for the long post but i just want to be on the safe side. any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

PS: anyone having problems with the CWF update haning on the writing of 3.52 update, I found out my problem was with the MS. Used a different srtick and it took maybe a minute.

Hope this helps.

Is it safe to install an official firmware (3.72) over a custom one (I am currently on 3.52M33-4). I want to give my PSP to my nephew who might get in trouble with a hacked firmware.

Thanks.

I would like to start off by saying thanks for all the help.

I have upgraded from 3.52 m33 to 3.53 m33-4. I am now trying to go to 3.71 and up. I downloaded the items at the 2 links posted in the guide. i have tried to do it, but it says that the 3.71 pbp is the incorrect file then it restarts.

here is what i have done.. please let me know where i am screwing up.

i have downloaded the two compressed files and extracted them. they are called 371FirmwareUpdate and 89427release.

i opened up the 89427release folder and copied the the update folder.
i put it on my psp in the "game" folder. so it is now F:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE looking at in on the computer.
I then took took the eboot.pbp file out of the 371FirmwareUpdate folder and changed the name over to 371.pbp and put it into the update folder on the psp (F:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\371.pbp)
there is now 3 files in the update folder.

they are 371.pbp, eboot.pbp, and umodule.prx and when i run the update from the psp it says that it is the incorrect file then it restarts.

I know i am overlooking something.. please help..

and thanks again.

Worst of all, I think I deleted the M33Update_352 folder.
So what should I do now? Is there a way for me to go back to where I started? which is v1.5.

will everything work in 3.71 what worked in 3.52 / are there any know issues to keep in mind?

i'm planning to upgragde my 3.52-4 m33 cfw to the 3.71-4 m33 cfw + 1.5 addon. i installed my current cfw with the "PSP Installer Deluxe 2.3" that includes a bunch of popular homebrew applications which helps a noob like me to get a good start with psp homebrew stuff. acutally i'm only using a small selection of it, like iR Shell 3.6.2, Snes9xTYL 0.4.2, DGEN 1.70 and Simple Popstation GUI v3.00 Beta. But it's nice for me to know that if i ever need it there is a JoySens 1.11 or CWCheat 0.19-D.

So my question is will the emulators work in 3.71 or have i to take care e.g. with the plugins for popsloader or CWCheat, which i find in my recovery menu? (btw. all of them are disabled) I also have heared of issues that sleeping mode doesn't work at least in early revisions of cfw 3.71 with some emulators (maybe all homebrew). also some people reported that they had to format flash0, otherwise their psp stalled when they entered the recoverymenu -> configuration.

since i found the tutorials in the sticky-threads here always useful i think its the right place to ask this questions.

greets,
christian

I've got 3.52MM33 Update 4. I have my kernel set to 3.52. I downloaded the Update file from Dark Alex and renamed it 371.PBP and put it on my memory stick /PSP/GAME/UPDATE. When I go to my memory stick on my PSP, it says Corrupted Data for the file selection. What am I doing wrong?

I'm fairly new to the upgrading etc. I recently upgraded to 3.52M33-4 and that went really well. But I've just tried to upgrade to 3.71M33, and I'm having the same problem. I've done all the right things too, and it just says "Corrupted Data" when I attempt to run the upgrade program. Anyone got any ideas?

Luster,
I had to put the 371.pbp(renamed from eboot.pbp), eboot.pbp and unmodule.prx in the /psp/game/update folder. I was able to upgrade to 3.71M33. All three files have to be in the folder. Took alot of reading through this forum to find this out.

Ok, so I have 3.71M33 installed and now trying to install the 1.50 kernel updates. I tried to put the 150.pbp in the root folder and when I tried to execute the file, it says Corrupted Data. The root folder is the PSP folder right? Is there a particular folder it needs to go into?

Craigerd...
Is there any chance you could give me a quick step by step guide on how exactly you upgraded. I have downloaded the 3.71 M33 file by Dark Alex. And i have renamed the Eboot to 371.PBP. I have my kernel on 3.52, and i have moved the update folder, containing 371.pbp and unmodule.prx into psp>game. What else needs doing? please help me :)

Luster,
The 3.71M33 file contains the UPDATE folder with 2 files: EBOOT.PBP and UMODULE.PRX. Copy these 2 files into your PSP/GAME/UPDATE. The other file 3.71 Update, download and rename to the EBOOT.PBP to 371.PBP and copy that file into your PSP/GAME/UPDATE. You should have 3 files in your PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder when this is complete: 371.PBP, EBOOT.PBP and UMODULE.PRX. Then go to your memory stick and execute the 3.71 UPDATE. Should work out for you I hope.

I think I've got it. Ive just put the EBOOT.PBP and unmodule.prx into PSP/GAME/UPDATE. Then downloaded the 3.71 M33-4 upgrade and changed the name to 371.PBP, and put it in the same folder. Now it shows the picture and runs the update program, but now I gotta wait for the battery to charge lol. Please tell me if I'm doing it the right way.

Sounds like you got it. When the update gets done and you hit X to reboot, go under your system information file and make sure it says 3.71M33.

Thank you for your help. I haven't done the update yet, but as soon as my battery has charged up (only 3% more) i will try it. So if it works, thank you very much. If it doesnt work...heheh [dammit!] lol

[EDIT]: I stand corrected, it loads up but it says incorrect 371.PBP file. If its possible can you send me the files you used...I really need this update.

I failed to
Place the update folder in the following directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/'
since I don't have a folder called GAME150.
So I guess I'm in 352M33 only. Now I am stuck~ unable to do anything. So I am wondering if anyone can help me in this. Either how to upgrade it, or downgrade to 150 so that I can start all over again.

You can just create a GAME150 folder in your psp, or just put it in PSP/GAME. I know that update works. Just create a new folder.
