I didn't realize you were wanting to purchase a USB drive, as you said in previous post that you already have one.
The USB drive needs to be USB 1.1 backwards compatible. The PS2 is only 1.1 not USB 2.0 speed.
That is why a lot of games will not play the intros and movies properly on a USB drive, they are slow.
To be honest the money you are going to spend buying the memor32 and a USB drive, you would be better off with a modchip that can play everything.

or are you trying to say bcuz of that usb hd has 1.1 it going to go slower
i also heard that ps2 loads games slower by via usb? is it true the ps2 slim has 2.0 should this make laoding times faster?

I am saying the PS2 whether it be slim or FAT version has 2 USB 1.1 ports with an OHCI-compatible controller.
So even if you hook up a USB 2.0 hdd that is USB 1.1 backwards compatible the speed will only be 1.1
Check it out for yourself.

Well all the games i have on my USB drive play fine. But some I have tried don't or the movies or intros are skippy but the gameplay is fine.
Check the compatibility that others have posted for specific backups.

Your welcome, its no problem.
As I mentioned, it doesnt matter how fast a USB drive you buy it will still only be 1.1 on the PS2, and if you are still going to buy one, make sure it is backwards compatible 1.1. It will say so in the tech specs.
My USB drive is a Samsung 320GB. Comes with AC adaptor and usb plug in. I use this one with my slim V14.
I also have a Maxtor 300GB PS2 hdd I hook up with Network adaptor on my V7.

the one that i like states:
Performance Specifications
Serial Transfer Rate
USB 2.0
Serial Bus Transfer Rate (USB 2.0) 480 Mbits/s (Max)
Physical Specifications
Capacity 120 GB
Interface USB 2.0
but doesnt state if its 1.1 backward comfortable.
anyway i talked to my brother about the slim ps2 usb slot and he said it must be 2.0 and he even showed me his satnav which has 1.1 usb slot, which was kind of a small triangla shaped

or ask the question if the general discussion if you don't beleive me.
Also check the specs on the box the PS2 slim comes in and it will tell you.
As for the one you are looking at that, the USB 2.0 just makes it nicer to connect to the pc and transfer games faster. You would have to ask them if its backwards compatible or find one that is.

You can only use hdcombo on a V12 and V13. They removed the hd connections on later slims.
Sorry I am not familiar with the usb drives with combining ports. I would have to read up on that myself.

I have 51 backups on my PS2 Hdd, and about 40 on my USB drive.
It would be awhile down the road I think before one sees a price drop in the memor32.

There is no difference. Usbextreme is the retail version.
http://www.hdadvance.com/
usbadvance is the cracked elf version, that can be put on memory card or on CD and boot with modchip, swap magic, exploit or memor32.
I bought UsbExtreme when I first started out and now just use the usbadvance.elf and have seen no difference.
And thats good then that the usb drive is backwards compatible.

Yes so far all the games I do have on my USB drive play smoothly with no problems.
The ones that didn't, I just deleted and used my swap magic to play them. I don't have a list at the moment of them all, but will try to later.

Instead of the Memor32 is it possible to use the adapter for the PS3 USB connect, to attach PS2 memory card to comp to add the momento files to the PS2 card. Then use the original card. Not sure if the PS3 adapter lets the PC write to the card or even allows it to recognize. This would be an easier and cheaper route than the Memor32. ????input????

No that won't work. You would still need to swap a disk, you can't just put in the backup.
