I only got nat3 and no UnNp at the start,so i turned of my PC and anything connecting to the router, then i redid the settings on my PS3 and did the test, now i have nat2 and UnPn.

I could Remote Play via the internet with both nat2 and nat3,the weird thing is if i dont use the internet(my router) and use Ad-Hoc(PSP Wi-Fi to PS3 Wi-Fi)it gives me errors so i just use the internet.

Also what do you mean you can connect via your home network, are you using a router or Ad-Hoc.
I mean I can connect inside my home network via the internet connection via the PSP. I am using a lnksys WRT54GS v7.50.5 router.

I shut everything down and restarted everything, still no nat2 and no internet play outside my home network...... darn it. Maybe I need a new router.

Is there a router that will do all this out of the box with no hassles?

I've always had to wrestle with linksys routers especially that model, try a D-Link wireless N or a Rangebooster G. I find they work the best out of the box.

On another note SERIOUSLY WHY HASNT THIS BEEN STICKIED?! This is one of THE most valuable guides one could need for using the PS3 online.

I second that. This thread helped me take my on again off again relationship with my wireless ps3 to FULL ON! I haven't gotten logged out once using the information learned here! Nat 2 and never been signed out of playstation network once since putting my Linksys in a DMZ!

HELP PLS, loaded medialink on my imac to stream content to my ps3, the issue is that it continues to lose the connection betwen the ps3 and my mac which is hardwired into my wireless router. I have opened all the ports on the router that SOny said to and it is still hit or miss. If i stop medialink and restart it i can usually see content streamed but then a few minutes later if i try looking at other content i get an dlna error 2006. Nullriver wont get back to me and im at my wits end....clearly the sw works but keeps losing the connection somehow........ I have even tried the DMZ thing (i think i did it right) using my new linksys WRT310N router latest firmware etc. Even latest ps3 update that just came last night...

every time i put the ip of the router (from what cmd says) it just comes up in windows live search or "cannot display page".
I have the BT Home-hub version 1, can i do this in hub manager instead?

edit:
Ok i found out hub manager is where i need to be to change it.
However there is no mention of NAT or DMZ....

Fat PSP: 3.03 oe-c (will update when i have time :P)

The DMZ option is usually berried into the menu's of the router because its not something most people do with their routers, and I don't think there's anything to do with NAT ever displayed on the router's menu.

Odd, it might be a quirky model of router. The manufacturer must have thought that the dmz was only for diagnostics so it disables everything else once it's in use. What is the brand and model number of your router?

try to ping google and see if you get a response,
start->run->cmd
type 'ping www.google.com'

can you connect if you disable the firewall on your pc?

Maybe if everyone who is having a problem with "putting there PS3 in a DMZ" tells us what routers they are using we can help them a little better. I know on my Linksys Wrtg54 that you have a spot where you can put in the exact IP of your ps3 to put it in a DMZ. Make sure that your other computer(s) aren't being put in a DMZ. To check your computers IP. Type "cmd" in the run box on your computer. When in dos type "ipconfig". Then scroll down to see you computers IP address. Make sure the IP address on your computer is NOT the one you put in a DMZ on your router. Then go back to your PS3 and get your IP from there. That is the one you should be using on the DMZ page of your router. If it is not then that is your problem. Insert your PS3 IP there and you should be fine. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE CONFLICTING IP"S or this will not work!!!
I really hope this helps because I know how much of a pain in the butt not having your ps3 in a dmz is. It sucks!!.. Now that my PS3 is in a DMZ I have not gotten kicked off of PSN network ONCE! And all my online games play flawlessly, with a wireless network!! WOO HOO! Good luck all.

Great thread!

I did all the steps you mentioned and now I cant get connected online on my PS3. I have a D-Link WBR-1310. If you need any other info let me know. I am sick of being kicked off the internet while on my PS3 and really need NAT Type 2!

Edit: I get a DNS server issue after I do all the steps above. I put in the following numbers in the DNS servers on PS3 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 and it didnt work!

Thanks in advance.....

Do you know how to go into your routers settings and choose a DMZ? Make sure you put your PS3's IP address in and click enable. Don't forget to hit save! Those servers do work. I am online everyday with them. PM me if you want my email for more help. :)
P.S. I haven't gotten booted from the network since I put my ps3 in a dmz :)

Just a little tip here for those of you having trouble getting NAT Type 2 with these instructions. While they're more than adequate they don't account for the fact that many users may be using a DSL/Cable modem that has a built in router, and then connecting another router to that one for wireless capabilities. This puts you in a double NAT situation, and you'll never get NAT Type 2 on your PS3.

If this is the case with your situation, you'll need remove your router from your network, put your modem in bridge mode, reinstall your router and then follow these instructions.

No edit option? Oops.. there it is, silly me..

Forgot to add..

If you're router doesn't have a DMZ, forward these ports:
TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658

If you're looking to Remote Play over the internet forward this port:
TCP: 9293

For DNS errors, you can check your routers status page to see what DNS servers it is using.

Bloody frustrating.

Just to see what would happen i checked to see if my brothers pc(which is also connected to my router) worked i went to his wmp 11 clicked to share with the ps3 and bang i can see and play his music files without fault all the time but still can not play mine.

Also i can play tiger woods 09 with people from usa and uk (im in australia btw) but when i try to connect to any of my mates games in aus none of our stats will update so therefore no play.

I'll admit im not very smart about these type of things but ive followed the instructions and nothing.

P.s. brb throwing my brand new ps3 out the window

p.p.s its firmware 2.42 if that helps
