Hi guys, well i still have faith in my probe and have decided i really need to buy the via card, which tbh is prolly the same problem alot of you are having with your probes, if you follow bhetricks guide there will be NO problem with your probe, it'll be your sata chipset.
As for me i decided to take it to a kind gentleman who flashed it for 20 quid and gave me the firmware on disc for the future :)
I'm sure i will come across a liteon drive at some stage to test my probe, but next on my agenda is the via card :)
Thanks again to all who helped me, i will be sticking around to help where i can and discuss stuff also, and thanks bhetrick i could'nt have sorted all this without your help!!

im prety sure its not the sata chipset because i got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132009 . and also the probe is not connected to the sata port in any way.

i rebuilt my probe from scracth again following this totorial and it still gives me the same error.

Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0xDF00 and COM3

................ Serial Data is bad,

DVDkey files extraction aborted!

is the probe supposed to go into the r707 hole or just touch it???
and also while is was soldering the resitors were getting very hot, could this make them not work???
im using 1/8 watt resistors.

i really want want this to work so i dont have to spend $70 on a ck3.

I really want to know the answer to the R707 hole question the above poster had.

Does the ink pen spring go into the R707 hole, or do you just hold it to where it touches the hole...

And if it does go into the hole, how do I make the spring fit in there?
I have tried to try to thin it out at the end and managed to make it fit about 3/4 of a centimeter in but is that enough?

My whole problem is that my JungleFlasher just hangs at
"Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0xC800 and COM4"

Should I take the long way and use iPrep, Dos, and stuff like that instead?

Thanks

In the hole. When you cut the spring, cut it at an angle so you end up with somewhat of a point.

And yes, the resistors will get hot if you hold the iron on them for more than a second. And that's ok.

Uh ok.

But now why is my JF hanging at:
"Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0xC800 and COM4"?
I can swear that my JF just freezes at that point because it stops responding.

Seriously, I followed your instructions exactly and I don't think that the case at all.
Its not even saying the thing like:
"Bad serial data"

Help meh please

I don't mean to spam but it might be because I just found out my VIA chipsets drivers weren't uninstalled correctly...

So Ill give that a try.

Nice Job on the tut bhetrick! I did that for the first liteon I flashed, and it was successful. Since I mod so many systems these days, I just bought the Xtractor, cause for some weird reason, when I tried the tool again didn't have luck. Tried remaking it, and still the same thing! But don't worry, I got the tool now!

But great tutorial bhetrick!

Have you flashed any other type of drives before?

This is where some will run in to problems. People aren't sure if their pc is set up right, not sure if the probe is right... it can all add up to so many different variables should a problem arise when flashing for the first time.

I'm not pointing you out... I'm just saying this in general.

I have not flashed any drive before...

And yes, so many variables could add up to this not working...
I will post pics of my probe so you can see if I did it right in a few minutes.

I am so sorry! I forgot about this...
The thing is, I can't seem to find the transfer cable for the camera.

I got frustrated and I decided to look on Craigslist for someone in my area who flashes. Found a guy who will do it for $25...

You should change your name to MacGyver. Great tutorial, but I hope I never end up with one of those drives. You guys are great.

Believe it or not, I ended up with a liteon after sending it in for GRAPHICAL repairs.
Totally out of the subject of my repair, they replace my drive.
M$ sucks.

While the LO is a little more involved when it comes time to flash it, I actually prefer it over other drives. It's nice and quiet.

I agree, I like the LO cause of it being quiet. The only downside is it was a pain to mod compared to the other drives!

I finished the cable and after 3 tries finally noticed the transistor was backwards so I started it again and tested in HyperTerm for the symbols (they all come out when I brush the Tx cable with a 5 volt source) but for some reason, I can get the other 2 files but not the key itself. I tested both, the resistors and transistors afterwards with a multimeter and they all seem fine... I seriously don't have any idea of what else to do. I am targeting the R707 hole using a needle as point. Do I have to clean the hole first or something (it does seem to have some extra silicone covering some of the metal area)

I've only tested with JungleFlasher... I'll try DOS at some point this week.

PS2 V9 with Custom Flip Top
MC Exploit
ULaunchELF 3.78
HDLoader 0.8a with 160Gb Maxtor HDD

Nintendo GameCube DOL-001
XenoGC 2.0
POTS adjusted to 400Ohms from 496Ohms and runs everything thrown at it

If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

I don't have a CK3 to be used for the 5v power source. Where would be the best place to acquire a 5v power supply?

Are you talking about powering the device or the drive? For the drive you can just use the 360 Power. For the device, you can just plug it into a Molex on the Computer to power it.
