Okay, did the pin 3 removal and still getting the bad serial error. I'm using a needle as my spear. All i need to do is stick straight down into the r707 hole right? Just don't get why it doesn't want to dump the key....

I've never heard of removing pin 3. I'm not saying it is correct but I have never done it that way. I always use the tool to extract the key then put it away and flash the liteon using DosFlash32 like a BenQ (except use the liteon erase function) before writing to the drive. ookiib if you need some help just PM me your email address (DON'T POST IT HERE)

I accidentally picked up a male serial plug instead. It should, however, theoretically work as long as I solder to the right numbered pins, right? Is there anyway I can test if my circuit's getting power? I tested with a multimeter, and everything seems functional. Not sure what's wrong, as I don't get the symbols when connecting a battery

The serial on your mobo will also be male. How will you plug it in, unless you go out and buy a male to male adapter.

If you build your own probe then no. Just use the xbox as the power source and the probe to extract the key.

Is there any type of drivers you have to install because I connected the probe in back of my PC to the serial port but its not getting detected in J/F. I don't see the retrieve key button

I don't think so. I recommend trying DosFlash32 and see if you have any luck with it.

I have 1k-Ohm 1/2watt 5% Tolerance and 100-Ohm(because i couldn't find 10k) 1/2 watt 5% Tolerance resistors. Will these work?

solomon, you have to connect it to a 5v source first, and check it in hyperterminal.
syko, no 100 ohm will not work you have to have 1k ohm and 10k. I just got some of these from radioshack yesterday.
guys i made a homemade probe and reader yesterday for my xbox 360 for flashing, out of an npn transistor 1k resistor 10k resistor ect..
and basically my +5v from molex accidently touched the XBOX CHASSIS.(xbox was grounded with my pc) this made a spark and my PC SHUT OFF. the xbox is perfectly fine. and now when i turn my pc on i hear the XP sounds and stuff but there is nothing on the monitor. this is onboard graphics, not a graphics card.

Your onboard graphics maybe fucked man, can you see your bios when you boot up atleast? If so, i would try and reinstall windows or swap hdd's in your computer in case. But i doubt it's a windows issue.
Thanks for the response, i went to a different radioshack today and found 10k resistors :). GL Man

i've been reading thru this, and i dont remember seeing it, so, does this method, still require soldering tx on the board. or is this a work around

OMG. I got it ot work finally, after hours. i was getting the bad sata error, but what i did was. i hit dvdkey 32, it gave me the error message, but then i clicked ok, and hit dvdkey32 again right after, and it read the drive. i've duplicated this 4 times now just to be sure. and its a good key

what do you guys feel is the best kind of probe? i'm trying to test a new probe, and i'm not getting consistent keys. and i think my r707 point is getting bored into too much. IDK
and is there anyway that i could connect a led to the probe to show i'm getting a signal, if so, how

I got all the parts needed out of an old Compaq monitor. Just pick a piece of equipment and look at the board and look for the color scheme for the 1K and 10K transistors.
