i just got wipeout pure so i decided to use the web browser,(great for porn LOL) it works but the loading times are slow and it sometimes loses the connection and cannot find the access point so i need to go back and re enter the info every time. it takes 5 minutes for your click to come up, then you get all impatient and you click on every thing to see maybe its broken, then it gets jammed and the thing freezes so you need to go back to the main menu. someone needs to fix these bugs

BTW, is wipeout pure an online-game or do you need to play wirelessly with a frien right next to you.

When there's a wireless router around, there's always a computer around. So why should you use psp, browser is crappy and screen too small for browsing and no keyboard. Just use computer.

just type in the site u want under google and click the right one. now, the only way it'll come up is if u start typing the actual site into the address bar, but then, there will probably be a bunch of other sites that come up.

speed up page loading times by turning off the "WLAN Power Save" in your PSP's "Power Save Settings"

The official web browser is coming out within the week. It's goign to be in update v2.0 among some other actually useful features, not just security updates. Because it isn't being routed through you computer to trick the game, it should be much faster, much!

Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.

I don't know if it will or will/not use flash, but it sounds like a full functional browser. The wipeout browser is garbage, most of all because you have to have the game in then you have to load the game then go through your computer.

Tell me, wtf is the point, if

1. Wipeout must be loaded and be in game.
2. Doesn't support actual browser functions, it's nothing even close to barebones class.
3. You have to have the router hooked up to a computer running moops software (or an alternative)

Why not just go on that very computer. Durrrr :)

Homebrew is over people, games will soon require latest version to play online.

Future updates beyond the browser (v2.0 among other cool features that come on it july 27th) will include word processing (Wireless and USB keyboards and mice can connect to the PSP in the future with these apps), spreadsheet, and instant messaging.

My old username wasn't cmmnsense for nothing, come on, homebrew is dead. Not only will you be forced with online gaming, but the benifits outweigh piracy of these mostly worthless games.

For the two good games that will hit PSP, just buy them. They are Socom and grand theft auto: liberty city stories, for this year anyway.

that is false, i do not have any software of that sort on my pc, all you need is the browser, and the sony browser has been confirmed NOT to support flash.

How do you operate your browser then? How do you get it to redirect?

Can you run the browser off anything but your home router?

I read that too, it won't support flash, at least not this version.

Your defending the browser? I can't tell.

Peace.

How much did that help though... is it like having your computer internet speed.

The PSP has a 802.11b wi-fi card that can support theoretically 11mbps, which is 1.375MB/s. If you have a download limit from your DSL/Cable company below that (which you do, probally only 1/4 or 1/5 of that) then the PSP should navigate the internet as fast or faster than your computer because it is also omitting flash objects. Internet browsing is not a CPU intensive task, the PSP CPU doesn't even have to notice while browsing the web. You get my point right? The wipeout browser is still hella slow.

Here's the update.

NETWORK - Internet Browser - The biggie of the bunch, a new browser function has been added to the PSP so that you can connect to a website any time you are in the area of a compatible / accessible WiFi hotspot. The browser supports standard 4.01 HTML, but will not support Flash (although it is listed what sounds to be a sniffer function for Flash to show when it is requested but not available ... might it be part of the PSP brower someday?)

NETWORK - New Network Menu - This is where the web browser will be housed. The icon for it will be a globe, and it'll cycle in with the music note, film frame, and game logos.
VIDEO - Jump Feature in UMD Video/Music - Yes, it doesn't sound nearly as interesting as our original translation of "Performance Jump." It's a new skipping feature in UMDs, perhaps direct chapter access control or something to that effect.

VIDEO - A-B Repeat Mode - A handy feature for watching clips you like, this feature allows UMD Video, Music or Memory Stick videos to repeat your favorite scenes

VIDEO - 4x3 Video Mode of Memory Stick Video - We're not sure what this accomplishes, as videos were already 4x3. The only way for videos to be bigger and wider was to cheat the system and stretch would-be 4x3 pixels in odd ways with alternate apps.

VIDEO - Audio Adjustment Function of Memory Stick Video - Seems to be muting and gain controls for when your homemade videos are not the way you want.

VIDEO - MP4 (AVC) Playback - This is the good stuff. Homemade PSP videos have so far been hobbled by limited codec implementation and an adherence to a regulated Memory Stick standard. Instead, the PSP is finally allowed to branch out and play more complex, high-quality, full-screen video in the advanced h.264 codec. Exact implementation of the AVC codec may still depend on certain variables, but get your compressors ready.

MUSIC - ATRAC3plus Support on PRO Duo - Correcting a silly technical gaff in the Memory Stick format, music fans can now put ATRAC3plus files on their PSPs. (SonicStage v3.2 software is required.)
MP4 AAC & WAVE Support - The PSP can now play MP4 audio (MP4's AAC format) as well as Linear PCM WAVE files.

PHOTO - Wallpaper Feature - We're guessing this is the much-requested feature for taking your favorite pictures and smacking them in the background of the PSP menu. There's no mention of a randomizer or anything else that would make this feature even more cool, but at last, something other than that swishy swirl on this month's color.

PHOTO - Picture Sending - You can now trade photos with other PSP owners over an ad-hoc (local) wireless connection

PHOTO - New Formats - The PSP can now read TIFF, GIF (we're not sure about animated GIF yet) and BMP files.

SETTING - Korean Language - A new language option on the menu. That'll be nice for them

SETTING - New Character Set - No details available on this -- hopefully, this is a quick-select for punctuation and other hard-to-type characters.

SETTING - Theme Setting - No details.

SETTING - Internet Browser Restriction Setting - A set of options for configuring the access your PSP has to the net, presumably your cookie and personal security handling.

SETTING - WPA Support - If WEP isn't secure enough for your home, you can now access PSP with WPA-PSK (TKIP.)

SETTING - Web Support on Keypad - It's unfortunately not as cool as it sounds (we were hoping for USB keyboard support to be added, as there are a couple of USB manufacturers with mini-keyboards on deck.) The old dial-a-letter keyboard will be the input for the web browser.

So your seriously going to keep not updating?

Too bad the browser doesn't have security, that is what will make it different from the 2.0 one. The firmware upgrades aren't just to fight homebrew, it patches internet connection holes.

That browser has nothing, someone could hijack the PSP no problem. The worst case scenario is they hijack it and then overclock the CPU and GPU until they fry.

It's been done already. That's why I don't use they wipeout browser.

(Plus with this update I can switch back to WPA wireless security for my router, yes! If i can crack any WEP in minutes, alot of other people can too. WPA is great, if you know how WEP Sucks, I mean works.)

Thats what i did few days ago, updated to 2.0 cuz had 1.51 before. Today i got a basic wireless router http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=226 and the psp doesnt want to connect to the access point. Says access point cant be detected... My laptop internet works fine with it.
I had a chance also today to use a better wireless router, the psp connected fine to it but the browser was reeeally slow.
I dunno, maybe its the fault of d-ling routers.
Anybody got any suggestions?

The browser works fast for me most of the time. It slows down when it comes to alot of pictures and object though. It works really good, damn it's sweet.

I seriously doubt there is a homebrew for v2.0, there might be though. You'd think Sony would get it right eventually.
