For what, your PSP? Or your router set-up?
What's your router type first off?
Then, what is your router's default IP address? It'll say in the manual. Mine is a linksys and its 192.168.1.1 yours very well could be exactly the same.
Once you have that address you type it in the ie address bar like this. http://192.168.1.1 Your IP is probally different if you have a different router.
Once you tell me what brand you have I'll know better where to go from here. If you need help, like a walk through. Private Message (PM) my name (Reasons?), with your e-mail address and then get on msn messenger with it. Then I will be able to see your screen (I won't have control of anything though, duh) and actually help. A message board is hard to work on.
About the v2.0 deal. Sony suggested not updating because in Japan the region encoding has stuff playing at a different frame rate, ours is like 29 fps and theirs is like 23 or something. so if you play any video beside UMD and you didn't rip off the region encoding, you'll get the sound and video skewed. All the pre-converted vids I downloaded no longer work (ooo, a whole three of them) because the dumba$$ didn't convert them right. All the videos I did (alot, mostly every aqua teen episode and family guy) work perfectly along qith UMDs. Make sure when you rip the DVD files to take off the region and encryption.
Fanboy is a term used to describe someone who is utterly devoted to a single subject. This generally is followed by the devotion and support even when proved wrong.
Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.

My advice: Wait for PS3.

xXxBG,
Give us more info about your setup. It is pretty simple to get it going. It is just a matter of configuring a Network Connection that matches the settings of your router. We just need a brand for that. A specific brand usually has the same default settings as the other routers made by the same company.

You can't see the access point for one of few reasons. Either the wireless radio on the router is shut off, the router is not broadcasting the SSID of your wireless radio or your wireless switch on your PSP is not on.
How close are you to your router when you are trying to Scan for it?

Guys there is something weird going on
Okay so when i pressed scan it came up with this access point which wasnt mine but it was only around 10% but with no SSID.
So i thought i would get a better signal from outside so i started walking around my driveway and gras and pressed scan and that same one was on 30% so then i went next to my satelite dish and put the psp right against the pole and pressed scan and now the server was at 62%. But i dont know how to connect. plus it was with a Security WPA-PSK(TKIP)

Then it has to be that the wireless radio on your router/access point is not turned on. A model number for your Linksys device would be helpful.
This would go back to why I believe people should buy good equipment for their wireless network.
I can connect to my D-Link Gaming Router a half a block away from my house using my PSP. I tested this one time. WHile I was waiting for my friend to pick me up to go to E3, I was playing Twisted Metal: Head On, in Infrastructure (Online) Mode. When he showed up, I stayed conencted and played while he drove off. I didn't get disconnected until I was around a half a block away.

You can't connect to anyone else's-
1. Illegal (Who cares though)
2. 62% makes the PSP to finicky
3. WPA is a pain in the @$$, and I don't know how to break it like you can with WEP.

Ok, guys. I am new to wireless internet as I do not own a wireless router so I need some help. I could not connect to the internet on my PSP to update at a wireless hot spot I know of. I clicked Network Update in Settings and it brought me to the screen that you most likely have seen before and was completely lost. Please give me a step by step walkthrough.
P.S. I have updated my PSP to 2.00 by downloading the update from PSP Hacks on my Desktop Computer.
Thanks for your help.

It would be kind of hard to try and give you constructive help on a network that's not yours. If you cant get connected by the information already on this thread then I would just wait till you get your own wireless connection.

Yes, the PSP is looking for your Network Connection. You need to set that up first. You need to know the settings for the wireless router/access point you are connecting to. Your router/access point's manual will tell you how to configure it and the PSP manual will tell you how to connect it to your router/access point.
If you are trying to connect to somebody elses router/access point, you are probably out of luck. If you can find what the SSID is, they may be using Static IP addresses, in which case, you don't know what subnet the IP Address range for the other person's network is.
It is best, to have your own wireless network, that way you can set it up however you want. Then, you know the settings.
