Just sticking my nose in to say that I finally got RB/CCE to work. I got some package from somewhere that installs the whole set up in one go.
I just copied Good Will Hunting (6.6Gig).
And the quality is absolutely awesome, so sharp and crystal clear. The colours are better and the picture is brighter.
Took 5 hours though but I think that's because it is set on 4 passes by default.
Better change that.

Have you posted your ini setup information. My advice is to delete everything and start from scratch. Keep everything simple and clean and on a single disk.

Questions

Do you have avisynth version 2.54?

Is MPEG2Dec3dg.dll in the same folder as RB (yes it can be with avisynth too but this is keeping it simple)?

Delete your setup folder and do it all over again according to Vurbal's guide, read it carefully and then choose nothing other than what it suggests. I know this is annoying but you're missing something.

There are only two possibilities. Your setup, or your system which means you might have to do an operating system reinstall. (reformat)

From a website:http://www.medlin.com/faq14.htm

Error 6 - Overflow
Usually means your data files have been damaged. Reinstalling the program will not hurt, but is unlikely to help. (When a program is damaged, it will not open far enough to get to an error message.) Most likely you will need to restore your data files from a backup or delete the data files and start over. Also can occur if you are using a pre-2000 version of Medlin with the Windows NT operating system.

Agent K, unless you are using CCE SP, you can't have more than 2 passes with CCE basic. In fact I have heard that if you set Basic for more than 2 passes it reverts back to one pass. If you are using SP trial then you can do more than two passes but you have the watermark.

You didn't buy CCE SP for 2,000.00 did ya? If you did I wanna be your friend, lol ;)

4-5 hours is not unusual with RB/CCE, especially if the files are large. I just did a James Bond flick and it took 6 hours with 2 passes, but I did keep ALL extras including previews.

Hey BigO,

Is it true that Cinemacraft will get rid of the water mark on the SP trial for $58? ;)

Posting email addresses is against forum rules and asking someone to help you do something illegal only makes it worse. You could be banned for that. When brobear said that you could remove the logo for $58, he meant if you buy it then you won't have a logo to worry about. You are also using a thread that has been set aside for serious use not for off topic discussions.

And guys, take this type of discussion to the "which transcoder produces the best picture thread."

You get to be the recipient of spam and crazy mail once the bots pick up your email address. Happy days. You may want to remove it before it gets to every spammer on the net.

@damrong18 ... if you read the posts here you'll find it will be the best $58 you ever spent on video software. I know it would be nice if this kind of quality were for free, but unfortunately it is not. Once you buy CCE, we will get you going if you have installation problems.

I would like to say this one more time. BUY CCE BASIC!!!

It's 58.00 for a 2,000.00 program. It basically has the same engine as it's big brother CCE SP, except it only makes 2 passes. Two passes is all you need, believe me and EVERY single person out there that has used it. You will never find an app that so many are in agreement on that have used it, it is simply, the best. 58.00 for a 2,000 product, seems like a no-brainer to me. :)

3/4 of this thread deals with problems using the trial version, then if and when you get it working you're gonna have the irritating watermark!

If you trust us enough to ask us, then trust us enough to believe us when we say, BUY CCE BASIC! Everything else you need is FREE!

(unless you would like to become a member of a very worthy club and contribute to jdobbs' wonderful effort called DVDRebuilder) :)

So let me see. If you buy CCE basic for $58 DVDrebuilder will work and you don't get the watermark? Sheeeer genius.

It's OK to play with CCEsp trial if your up for some extra work.
But if you just want the best movie backup system then bypass the extra hassle and just make the purchase.

Where did all my smiley things go!

Donald,

Did you guys tell everyone that version 0.58 of Rebuilder had problems and was replaced by 0.59? Everyone should be using RB 0.59 and CCE Basic Retail. If they're rich, they can use CCE SP Retail. I don't know of anybody that likes watching movies with big watermarks.

I've installed all the right things for DVD-RB to work.
I'm using DVD-RB 0.59 Beta with CCE SP 2.67.00.27.
I thought about ripping Kill Bill, so I did, but when I got to the DVD-RB part of the ripping, I got stuck. When I've pressed "Transcode", I get this error:
Run-time error '9':
Subscript out of range

I've followed the guide, and I've ripped movies before this one with DVD-RB, so I don't understand what's wrong. Is there something wrong with the DVD?

Thanks in advance.

You ripped with Rebuilder? How? It's not a ripping program. You rip the movie with DVDDecrypter to a folder on your HD, then run those files thru RB/CCE.

Of course I didn't rip it through DVD-RB. I used DVD Decrypter (the latest version).
Then I edited the menu with MenuEdit and blanked some extras with VobBlanker. It played fine in PowerDVD.

Editing a movie and removing something you shouldn't can cause a problem. Rip the movie and edit nothing but audio tracks and then try encoding it again.

Wingdings,

MenuEdit is a good application to remove buttons to non-existent items, like removed audio streams. However, you might want to do this type of editing after DVD-RB does it's task. DVD-RB is very picky about the source DVD. It you need to save space use the steal space option.

Wingdings, I agree with soph, I used to have problems with RB/CCE using DvdReMake resulting in errors 0003 and 0004. I have since corrected the problem but it took a while.

Use the entire file from decrypter, edit audio tracks and subpictures to remove in your setup window, then use steal space as gnomex suggested and resize to half D1 on your extras and let it run.

The thing is,RB/CCE does such a good job it really doesn't need much editing.

Can't I just use DVD Decrypter to skip the VOB files containing the extras? They ONLY contain the extras that I want to remove. Doesn't DVD Decrypter make a new IFO structure based on this?
