Anyone know when there is going to be a HD DVD writer? And if so how much? Also how much do you think blank BluRay and Blank DVD HD is going to cost?

LOL, I didn't think anyone would catch the 1024 mistake, but oh well. I noticed it just after I posted it and didn't care to change it. Anyways, continue with this calm and pleasant discussion, I notice there are minimal arguments and it is not closed. Carry on.

The special polymer that was developed
making the disk almost invincible.
At that trade show they placed a demo
they gave people a chance to attempt to
destroy a blu-ray disk. Lets say they
offered materials that would destroy a
dvd or cd sadly the pictures show to
all the effort of the people not one
scratch on the disk.
Sadly the polymer isnt cheap yet, so
the price of blu-ray will be lot higher
until the production level can be cheapened.
The devlopers of the special polymer are
planning on using it on regular dvds as well,
but they are part of the blu-ray association.
This special polymore is very improtant
because data had to be stored closer, which
would mean normaly easier to destroy.
Here are some visual representation of it.
Before: http://www.blu-ray.com/images/ifa2005/tdk_06.jpg After : http://www.blu-ray.com/images/ifa2005/tdk_08.jpg
I lost the picture of the blu-ray burner,dvd burner
and cd burner or I would have shown that one instead
of the one I chose to put there on the last post.
Also to counter what I just said...
Verbatim's "new organic based dye which has been proposed to the BDA will allow manufacturers to reuse some of their existing DVD production equipment and reduce the overall production cost of BD-R discs"
Here is the picture of the cds using this dye
http://www.blu-ray.com/images/ifa2005/verbatim_02.jpg
Also Nero will feature bd burning etc..
Here is a screenshot of the new nero build
showing this.
http://www.blu-ray.com/images/ifa2005/nero_04.jpg
Lastly this is a picture of Nero's booth showing off
the new Nero. Look closly for the blu-ray logo on the
bottom sign with the words blu-ray disk.

Also after reading some stuff I see why
hd dvd release was pushed back At the
trade show it was having alot of problems
I will quote these problems in my next post.

This is part of the IFA Berlin 2005 report
"When checking out their HD vs SD demonstration we noticed that they were having some minor technical problems, so we asked the person running the presentation about it (not a Toshiba official). He informed us that every time they wanted to play a HD-DVD they would have to wait for about 20 seconds before the playback actually started. He also said that they had to shut down the player every 30 minutes to let it cool down. According to the representative the player had been shipped directly to the show from Japan, so we guess it's possible that it had been damaged on its way to IFA."
These maybe the reasons they pushed back the date on hd dvd.
Anyway I thought that interesting.

The same company that developed
it for blu-ray plays on doing
it to there dvds that they sell.
Note these dvds would be more
expansive. Invinsibility cost
money.
Well I hope hd dvd figures out
how to solve that overheating
problem that would make it very
unpopopular in the states.
Also I have a theory please dont
take this the wrong way its just
a theory.
First you take blu-ray,
then the cell procesor
that has already been
coded or being coded
into the linux kernal.
Does anyone think that
sony is either going
to release there own
computer system to try
to compete with microsoft
at its core buisness.
Or simply flood the
competetion with the
superiour hardware given
the non comercial competition
a larger advantage over
the comercial competition.
Anyway I may just be reading
too much between the lines.
It was just a theory no
reason to bash me on a theory.

bloody hell this post has advanced a lot in the last few days.
well its good to know that they are making the disks scratch proof (for blu-ray at least (or i read at least)), are they doing the same for HD-DVD.
also i know that intel are supporting HD-DVD, but does anyone know what AMD are supporting. cos if AMD go HD-DVD 2 then both of them can refuse dell and other compaines (that may use and support blu-ray) their processors for their systems. if so then dell would be useless as they wouldnt be able to get any processors for their PC's and they would go bankrupt.
lol, if AMD support HD-DVD that would be a laugh. Intel and AMD could bully other companies that rely on their processors into supporting HD-DVD instead of blu-ray. that would be funny if that happened.
if AMD support blu-ray then forget all about what i said above.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......

Sorry, I've been away from this thread from a few days, but now I;m back to clear somethings up for all you guys ;)
Quote: Normal Dvd Rate
1x = 1.32 MB/s
2x = 2.62 MB/s
2.4x = 3.17 MB/s
4x = 5.28 MB/s
6x = 7.93 MB/s
8x = 10.57 MB/s
12x = 15.85 MB/s
16x = 21.13 MB/s
Blu-ray format
1x = 36 MB/s
2x = 72 MB/s
Where did you get this from??? First for the blu-ray. Look at the pictures...write speed 72 Mbps, the b stands for bits, 8 bits=1 byte, so 8 Mb=1 MB. Whats 72/8??? A 2x burn speed of 9 MB/s MAX. 1x is 4MB/s. Wow, so many people get bits and bytes confused. Now for the normal DVD's. Once again, where did you find that information?
6x (8.31 MB/sec)
4x (5.54 MB/sec)
2x (2.77 MB/sec)
Those are just the basics for dual layer burners. And yes, I have a link to back that up if you really want to argue with me.

I though I posted them as they were off the site
if there is a mistake in the math or any
other aspect of the messege, I appologize.
I give my most deepest appology.
Now to quote the previous faq
they said at 1x a 25 gig bd
could be burned in about 1 hour 33 minutes.
Here is the direct quote off the paper
for scepetics.
"...,which means it will take about 1 hour
and 33 minutes to record a 25GB."
Please note the FAQ has changed since
I printed it out and yes I printed
the whole thing out at my college.
