Hi.. I have a MATRIX Infinity v1.4 mod chip (YEAAA!!!!)
I'm getting the 8MB/1.5MB connection soon.. maybe by the end of this month. Over here.. (In Australia).. it's only $AUS50 a month? How much do you pay for that connection over there?
As he said..
A torrent... is not actually the file.. then www.torrentspy.com, www.bi-torrent.com would get shut down for hosting illegal files.. Instead.. a torrent file gives your BitTorrent client the information it needs to download it from other people :D (like P2P)
So.. if you have a 20-100kb.. don't get your hopes up :D
But yeah, mod chips are legal now (yaey!!!) hahaha - now we can discuss it freely.. but.. i still go to the video store n stuff like that.. but there are no massive video stores.. there should be.. -like.. ones as big as k-mart/big-w.. *sighz*
This didn't help much..
Hope it helps you

I dunno we pay $42 USD a month. In other places it's like $30-$50. My friend lives cross country, and he pays $30 for a 5.5 MB downstream connection. I have a 1.5MB DSL connection. That's slow compared to most, but I had dial up (AOHell) for years, so I could care less. You'll never go back to dial up once you get high speed. What kind of speeds are you getting, killah132?

the fastest way is to get the torrent from a quality site, and then have a high speed connection.
sites that have no ratio requirements are often very slow, get on a quality site and keep a good ratio or pay a membership. i get 99% of my torrents at my max connection speed of 500 kB/s if i wanted to pay the extra $17 a month to my ISP i could get them at 750 kB/s but most games can be downed in less then a 2 hrs and in most cases less time.

depends on your connection speed. i have a speed of 4 mB/s which gives a download speed of 500 kB/s, a 30 kB/s down speed for me is unacceptable, on a DSL line that is about average.

goto www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and select the server closest to you and post your speeds here. at this time of day with allot of online traffic on my server i get:
Download Speed: 4015 kbps (501.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 434 kbps (54.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
when the server load is lower i can get 600+ down sometimes.

that will tell you your actual down/up speeds
you can download from anywhere but limewire and all those P2P type software programs are only acceptable for small files such as MP3 in my opinion, for games/movies torrents are the only feasable way to download.
check your speed at the above link, this will tell you what to expect out of your torrents if you have a quality tracker.

EDIT:
here is a png shot of my download speed currently:

the tracker is the server that holds the information that your downloading, it tracks people who are seeding/leeching and allows you to connect to them via your torrent client. torrentleech is one of the best tracker sites out there.

Yeah I may have to try Utorrent, is it adware/spyware free? My max download speed is 200kB's/sec, I rarely get that with BT, you're also limited by the seeders max upload speed. Maybe with quality trackers, it's a lot easier to reach max d/l speeds.

you do not download from seeders only, you get files from lechers as well, (this is why you have an upload while your downloading) if you cant connect at max line speed it's your client. ”torrent is spyware/addware free, i use V1.4 i think it is, it just recently updated its self the last few weeks or so.
kc
Edit:
just to add a lil FYI, BT is designed to only allow you to get as much as you give when it first starts a file, this is why it's so slow at start of a new torrent (”torrent isn't) they call this free loader prevention.
all clients also look at the files your downing and see which ones are 'most rare' and it gets those files first, the concept here is if you get the rarest files first, they quickly become not so rare.

Yeah utorrent is worth a try. I've gotten a lot faster average speeds than I was getting with Azureus. It's adware/spyware free and takes up very little memory. You should use Peer Guardian 2 with it, I don't think it's got a built in IP Filter like Azureus.
54. Q. I download PS2 games, music, and TV shows all the time. How do I keep from getting sued or receiving threatening emails?
A. Peer Guardian 2 is your best bet. It blocks around 65 million known IP addresses from companies which are paid to monitor your download habits. You're never completely safe. The only way to avoid getting sued or receiving threatening emails is to not download any copyrighted material. Now if people were actually arrested for this, everyone in this forum would be getting cozy in a jail cell with this guy:
Get Peer Guardian 2 here: http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

What sites do you use to get those speeds?
i can get those speeds on any of the top sites but torrentleech is the only one i get consistent max speed from because of their restrictions. they control membership about the best of any site I've seen and they don't allow anyone but uploaders to upload, this is a major factor in speed.
allot of sites allow anyone with 'XXXX' status to upload a torrent to the tracker (and most of them don't have a clue what they are doing in the first place), allot of these people have a max up speed of less then 100 kB/s and they are leeching while seeding their torrent so it's even slower, this kills the seed population because you either have to superseed to allow someone with a faster connection to get their seed first and then help (if they don't hit and run) or you seed to 20 peers and it takes 3 weeks for a single snatch to complete.
TL uploaders have a minimum 2 mB/s up speed (not line speed but actual up speed) and they seed for 1 week then drop to a new torrent. a popular DVD-R of over 4 Gig will have over 2500 snatches and usually over 500 active seeders at the end of that first week, this is because of proper restrictions and control of the membership.
any free site that you can pick up a torrent, download it and run off with no consequences after your done will never provide any quality or speed because those lack of consequences are tied to lack of benefits as well.
