How do the anaconda and efal bioses compare to GCoS? I have been using it with some limited success as I get a lot of dre's when streaming. Do these two bioses also support the streaming option?

Sorry arief, I wasn't clear. I send all my files to the gamecube using the pc and bba. I am using the 1.4b revision of GCoS which lets me browse pc files from the cube and choose which ISO I wan to boot. I was wanting to know if the bioses you have experience with support this option?

i am actually working on an open sourced iso burner, iso management, iso manipulation tool. if i can get this stuff to work on my game cube, i could incorperate a special session into the tool that could burn the image data backwards... maybe.. ill have to look into it further to see if i can do it.. i cannot seem to get the some of the tools ported to linux as i dont use windows, but i will have to in order to get this set up.. if i get the tool into prerelease, would the people here test it.. i am verry good at this stuff, but it is new territory as isos are very hard to edit and such. but i might be able to force it to read the iso binary data in reverse. but cannot tell if it would work as of yet. i still need to find all of the tools. i have a package called pdx-gt12b.zip, would it contain the ripper tool in it. like i said i am not a windows user and the files inside are w/32 executables, not linux bin or source codes. i need the tools to help you, and me:), get this figured out.

Even if you burned the disc backward it won't work.
You won't be able to boot it.
I've gotten backups to boot and you have to figure out a way to get a barcode on the disc. (small ring of notches around the start of the disc) As soon as the gamecube turns on it checks for that before it will continue to load the game. Thats how it knows whats real or fake. Gook luck with your software.
ps you don't need to burn it backwards. The only problem it booting the discs. Try to figure out the barcode thing and we're set.

Edong,
I would definitely test the tool, right now I am using GCoS to boot ISOs which I stream from my PC, but the server is a windows app, If you know how to stream from Linux that would rock as I use Mandrake 10. As far as making copies goes, I can rip games using the BBA and a windows browser, I am a bit of a Linux noob, and can't get konqueror to save an ISO for me. The gamecube reads the discs, sends the data to the PC, where you can save it if you point your browser to the IP and location.

If you put banner support, garbage data wiping/adding, ISO rebuilding, audio fixing tools into your software and it worked then it would be a one stop shop. Good luck. BTW there is a bootable linux kernel for the gamecube as it is based on a power pc processor.

yup i did notice the barcode thing, that would require alittle more hacking than i myself can jump into, but me and a friend are thinking of seriously modifying the gamecube we have to stop the check, or make it think the barcode is there. havent goten into it yet though. if the barcode is data on the disc, i might be able to use the drive that is in the gamecube to read the barcode and get into it. but havent gotten into it much yet. i work 8-7 every day so rough to play around with stuff like this. it can be done though for anyone who thinks it cant. they are dumb. check some of the crazyness my friends and i have posted on www.hackaday.com.

also, i am not quite sure of the linux kernel you speak of but that pisses me mad cause i was wanting to build it. i know it is ppc, but the other hardware is what was giving me a prob. ill see if i can find it. but i think i can use the hardware in the gamecube to get the disc coping and burning to an art. like i said it can be done. might be hacked up as all get-out, but it can be done. my friend actually is working on using another drive in his gamecube. ha. i cant imagine what that will look like. havent talked to him about it in a while, but he did successfully modify his pc into an xbox, so if anyone can do it, he can. he used some nice hardware coding tools, and memory chips to fool the system. i didnt get into it much. never was impressed with the xbox. by the way. i like that the microsoft corp will use ppc processors for the new xbox, how ironic. then apple using intel, geez.

What was it exactly you were trying to do? Stream a game? if that is the case then you need to find a person who is experienced in mac 'affairs' to help you. I would help gladly if I could but I have never used a mac. I know that you can run linux on a mac and that there is an app to stream to PSO which is native to linux. Another possibility would be to emulate windows and run the appropriate app that way, but I don't know if this is possible. Sorry to be so vague but I really have no experience with 'the other side'.

My intentions is both to stream games and to rip games... Got PSO 1&2 and a ViperGC mod chip so everything is possible ;)
Emulating windows using Virtual PC is no good. Have tried it... Don't know the linux apps required both to stream and to rip...
I try both to stream and to rip, and i will gladly install Linux if this can help solve the problem. Just need the appropriate apps to do so...
If any of you guys know where to get this, and with a nice GUI it would be the best

I'm assuming you have a BBA with your PSO 1&2.
All you need to rip is ngcdev ripper 0.2a and a web browser.
- load the ripper DOL
- connect a cable between your BBA and your computer NIC
- type in the http address from the TV screen into your browser
done in under 20 minutes, burn it to a miniDVD and you are done!

You say you have the IP settings correct for thinair?
You have your Mac set to a fixed IP setting of 192.168.1.100 and your GC set to 192.168.1.32?
Are you using a crossover cable, or wired to a hub? I've had best luck with a dumb 10T hub, but recently I have been using a cross-over cable so I can use the 100T streamer built into ThinAir... (Didn't have a spare 10/100 switch around.)
The cross-over cable is a little more finicky because when PSO switches the speed of the BBA back and forth, the Mac isn't always ready.
You are using ThinAir 7.2b, correct?
I've done everything from the Mac without any need to use a PC (Stream, RIP, Burn, etc.)

Reading over all 30 pages, I've found that the info in this forum is quite good. However I've seen about 5 peopel who ask about the whole
"Server DNS query from 192.168.1.100", "Server DNS query from 192.168.1.32" issue and have gone unanswered.
I've tried my best to follow every guide I've found with no result past these messages in the PSUL 1.1 program, be it loaded from Phoenix v2.3 or from the command line.
I am using a crossover cable and a dedicated NIC. I've set all the numbers as they should be But still I just get ths screen over and over agan.
and the error No.102 in PSO (Cannot connect to the server).
So I'm just trying to find out what I'm doing wrong, My PC settings seam to be right and the GC's network setting seam to be right. Please I need a lot of help it seams -_-;

Can japanese games be copied and played on action replay and free loader? How can I copy it? I don't want any type of mod chip.

I am interested in getting the PSO exploit up and running however, before I go and buy the Broadband Adapter etc (I don't want the modchip because over here they cost an arm and a leg to get someone to install it)...Anyways, I understand that you rip the game onto your pc from your gc but I was wondering whether it would be possible to acquire gc games from the net and then stream those over to the gc, instead of ripping them to the pc...GC games are still full price here and no one rents them :(

Yes, you can d/l iso/gcm from the net to stream to your gc from a pc. They do not always work. Another alternative to paying alot for a mod chip to be installed is to order a max drive pro from codejunkies.com for around $50 USD and load a bios that way. (the mod chip just allows you to load a bios through a hardware exploit while the max drive facilitates loading a bios through a software exploit).

ForceX,
Soldering 5 wires is as easy as it gets. The hardest might be the one that connects to the pin of the chip. Making the gamebit always makes me laugh out loud. Hats off to the guy who discovered this method.
As for rentals, I guess you are out of luck. Maybe you could buy used, then sell them back. I have never d/l'ed any GC iso's, and I hear there are many problems with that. In the US, try this for rentals... http://www.video-game-rental.net/index2.html

There's hardly any difference in price with the Viper GC. I guess it depends if someone isn't comfortable opening up and soldering their GC. I have to admit, the Mod That Cube Faq is basically a Mod the GC for Dummies. It has all you need.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I do not want to install the modchip myself because I have never soldered anything and I do not want to damage the console. Additionally, I live in Australia and the cheapest I have seen the modchip is $90.00 and if I got someone to install it they would charge shitloads e.g. Xbox mods cost about $150+ here :( (Thats why I softmodded :D)
Anyways, crzyfl are their any tutorials on using the Max Drive Pro (Can you use an action replay instead?) to load the bios? And would I still need the Broadband adapter + PSO 1 & 2?

ForceX,
The action replay can be used I beleive, but I will not attest to this as I have never physically seen it work. Max drive pro can most definitely be used to boot a bios, I do it every day. You do need a broadband adapter, but not a copy of PSO. I bought the BBA in Australia from DVDCrave.com.au not sure if they still have any though. If you get the max drive I will upload to you the tools you need and help with any queries you have (it took me a month to get any success, I know how frustrating it can be). I have had limited success downloading games over the net, but games I have ripped work not bad. If you need to know if a specific game works ask me and I will test it out.
