I have successfuly backed up 12 of my gc games. But I'm having problems with one game only. Starfox Assault. I've burnt three different copies of this and none of them work correctly. One almost works, just before the game is loading up the level to begin playing, the machine stops and the nintendo dirty blah blah message appears. My resident evil 4 backups are my latest of the games that are out there, that work 100% Does this game require a patch of somekind? Am I burning this wrong? I'm using the latest Nero, I burn it as an .iso I finalize the disc, and I burn it at 2x speed. Any suggestions, ideas, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The emulators that i have try don't work very well like 10 fpm and are not playable on a p4 3gighz 512ram 128 video card and to rip the games you need a bba to hook your gamecube to your pc.Your drive won't read the disk it will read and copy backup disks

does anybody have any advice for using a wireless-g 802.11 router? I was using a standard wired router and gamecube was connecting fine, but just recently switched to a linksys wireless router with four ethernet ports, so that I could still connect the gamecube in my living room, havin my computer in another room, they still communicate, but upon loading games and some dol's (namely the memory card back utility ctr-gcs) it will freeze after a moment, didn't know if someone else has run acoss this problem and has any insight on the settings to use

Could someone please explain to me the swap trick? I bought a max drive pro and when I try to boot a backup disc with Gcos it detects the reigon wrongly (JPN every time) and after that just hangs to a black screen. I am not sure if I have burnt the iso image correctly either. I have gcn files that are not 1.4GB in size. Do I need to replace the junk data? and if so what tool do I use? I am a diehard 'N' fanboy and if you could give me the right help it would make my year.

Hey, I read around some more and found that my laser potential may be too high. I don't want to wait for a gamebit to ship so my question is this...what is the bic pen method of opening the star screws on the cube. Or alternatively, what store in australia can I get a gamebit?

at first i didnt think the bic method worked. but a little bit of stupidy makes you think about alot of things. i thought about it bah anyway

1. buy a big as5 bag of bic pens, your gunna waste a few
2. take out the innerds of the pen
3. take the end of the pen and heat it up (no so it catches on fire my god!)
4. quickly press and hold firmly with as little movment as possible and the more more perfectly it is on the bit the better
5. let it cool and harden (ive heard that some people dip the end in cold water to make sure its even harder with less waiting
6. use is like a screw driver, and push down on it fairly hard i find that it prevents the screws from striping the mold as much.
7. repeat till all the screws are out
8. to save time later find screws that can take the place of those gay screws.

Hi, can anyone guide on how to create backups? Assuming that i have rip the original gcm into my hardisk and rename it to .iso, the next step should be burning the .iso file using nero(create data disk).
My question here is, can i just copy it to a DVD and play it direct using my modded GC(Viper GC) or i can only do it using a mini-DVDr?
Next is, if normal DVD could just work fine, what type of DVD can and cannot be used? DVD-R? DVD+R? DVD+RW?

Thks for any help rendered.

Goodies package I just threw together. I'm planning on changing it a bit in the near future but here is what I have now. This is the best software for the job I think and soon I'm going to include the emulators for snes and genesis. It also includes a small tutorial which I'm still working on. hope this helps some.

Hello there,

I habe a problem: I just bought a GC and I don't have any tools for it, but I want to backup some Files O:-)...

What do I need for this? I read the How-To and the last site, but there are 30 others left and it would be nice if you can tell me if there are any news, you know: other tools (except this new package - thx ;)...) or better ways to copy the game.

And what do I need?

- a GC with Memory Card and a Controller
- a PC with LAN, etc.
- a 1.4GB DVD
- the game I want to copy
- Phantasy Star Online 1+2
- Gamecube Broadband Adapter
- the tools package

Thx, Alectus.

Btw.: I'm from Germany, that explains my english ^^'...

aznkid02,

I guess you be spending another $35... check some local stores, or get it from nintendo.com. check their website for local dealers, might save you some time.

I would need some help concerning Gamecube streaming. I seem to be having some problems connecting my gamecube to my PC. I've read through the 30 page of this thread, but no success in finding anything.

Using: Newest gamecube (just bought it on June 2005),BBA cross-over cable, PSUL v1.1, PSO (pretty sure it's not plus... date on the mini-dvd is 2000-2002)

I followed IceMonkey's instructions exactly, but am having trouble connecting. On PSUL screen I get the
"Starting server on 192.168.1.100
Waiting for connection..."

but that is all....

On PSO, I get an error message after the warp screen:

Attempt to connect to the server has
failed. It is possible that the server is
undergoing maintenance.
The line will be disconnected.
PRESS START."

I also noticed that when I try to connect (after saving my password in the initialization step), my network icon pops-up and says: "
Network cable unplugged" for a couple of seconds.

I've been trying for a week to make it work without success. Even with Starcube Phoenix 2.45, still no success.

Please help.

oups. sorry for my previous post. The actual PSO error is the following:
"You could not be connected to the server. Please check that your provider settings are correct before connecting. The line was disconnected. Press Start"

Waterbouy: I'll give it a try. Thx.

If anybody else comes up with something else, plz let me know. I would like to avoid going through the hub in my sister's room.

Also, I came across some threads that said the memory card could affect the initialization. Did anybody have any success at initialization using non-Nintendo memory card ?

nexxmexx,
was your crossover cable cat 5?, I had no success with GCoS, until I changed my computer's IP to the default one in the gamecube menu. I know that you are using a different boot system and that it is probably irrelevant but that worked for me.

thx crzfl. I actually solved the problem. It wasn't the crossover cable nor the memory card. It was just computer configuration. I tried it on my sister's computer and it worked fine... so... I just had to compare the network configuration from there (it wasn't IP or subnet mask related at ALL)

Listen...The PSO method is BS. If you wanna get copies to boot on your GC you need these things.

Max Drive Pro for GC ( You get that at Codejunkies.com)

The boot program (GCOS, Anaconda, Efal) one of those three.
If you want the link send me an email and I will give it to you -afrancis@genuineconsulting.net

1.4GB mini DVD ritek-prefered

For those of you who had this and it didn't work, you need to adjust your laser. I had the same problem with GCOS where is said JPN every time. Open you GC with the pen method or get the gamebit screw driver and open it. THere are guides on how to do this.

Then if you get alot of disc read errors get a permanent marker, and put it around the edge of the disc. on the top but not on the bottom of the disc.
