Use a crossover and a nullmodem cable and check the log output in the IFA window.

Make sure the IFA server is runnig and reboot the box holding the off button and up arrow at the same time.
It may take a couple of attempts

Hi there
I have Dbox 2 working off NTL in Dublin. My service scan found all the channels, but the terrestrial stations like RTE, Net2 and some others are freezing/jumpy.
I noticed that others have also had this problem, and it seems that I need the NTL Dublin services xml. I was wondering if someone (maybe DSLEEPER!) could point me in the right direction, for getting this services file.
Anybody's help would be much appreciated!

Change the UCodes and this normally sorts out the problem. Why are people still getting in the DBox when you can get a brand new Dreambox for around the same money ???? The last DBox was produced about six or seven years ago, so they are old kit.

Maybe channels can be deleted or "hidden" by editing Bouquets

Great info on this thread folks.
Just have a question or two. I'm thinking of buying a Nokia dbox 2 on ebay. I live in Navan in Meath and have a basic Chorus connection. Does the Nokia dbox work on Chorus. I know that the Starview doesn't work as a friend tried it.
Also is the Nokia Dbox easy to set up
Thanks for any help/advice

It depends if you get chorus cable or chorus mmds.
Chorus mmds is not functional with a dbox.

Mmds is being broadcast over the air and you get a mmds aerial or there is a central mmds mast with antenna in the town.
NTL mmds is functional via a cable box and chorus mmds need a box with dvb-t tuner.

I started a thread for this but got no answers - trying here might be better.
Has anybody used the new Digivox box in Ireland? How is it?

Hello all, new to this stuff and have just got a dbox, ran the scan and it appears to pick up the channels but I get no picture. I can see the free to air ones OK, City Channel, Setanta etc.,
I am using a Sportster 1.08 Image in Dublin, I have read most of the previous posts and I get the impression that if I get a services.xml file and FTP it to the Dbox it should solve the problem?
I have tried leaving it on the SkySports channel but this did no good.
Can anybody tell me where I can get the services file (there is a link in one of the earlier posts but the file no longer exists).
Or is there something else I should be trying first?
All suggestions appreciated!!

If you do a scan and it picks up all the channels but you only have picture (you can see rte2 but not rte1) then it seems like it is only set up to look at fta programs.
...from MGB17 on another board...
DBox button -> Sportster extras -> camd-selection
Enable only one Emu, save settings.

When I tried that I think it said that it only supported 1 cam d. So I could not change anything there. Does that sound right ?
I will take another look at that when I get home, but am fairly sure I could not change anything there.

If there is no other camd available it looks like you got no UK modded sportster.

I bought it as it had a UK NEUTRINO image preinstalled.
Where do i get another image from (Commando 7 seems to be suggested).
I get BRUTEFORCE UK as an option when scanning, as well as two other options.
As I said it seems to detect the channels (52 TV) and I can see the City Channel and other FTA.
Thanks for the replies!

Have DBox2 , Sportster 1.7, searched web and got cables.xml which includes NTL Dublin, set Sevice scan to overwrite bouquet, fast scan and manual scan set to off, for both, selected suitable cable provider and then started scan, 14 transponders found 142 stations and fingers crossed am up and running. Would a proper scan not create a services.xml if cables.xml includes your cable provider

A scan update the services.xml or create a new one if there is no file included in the image.

If the emulators evocamd or mgcamd or newcamd are missing the image is not fully UK modded.
The emulators or emus in short have to do the descrambling job.

Does cables.xml have to include appropriate cable provider and settings for chosen provider to work?. I selected overwrite bouquet, fast scan and manual scan both set to off and then started scan
