Burns great at 4x ... just doesn't READ all that well. Media is quite shotty. The die is sprayed badly on most disks; end of the disks tend to have read errors; media is "see through"

alien, a word of advice, DO NOT BUY media FROM EBAY~!! you basically answered your own question...more often than not, they are NOT authentic TYs...had a friend that was scammed w/ fake TYs from ebay, came running to me for help, verified to him that they were fake tys, hence the bad quality burns..and he got a refund...
save yourself the headache and the hassle...don't buy media from ebay, LOT of shady sellers on there that only want your money because they assume you don't know any better...take it from me, i know what im talkin about when it comes to genuine Taiyo Yudens :)

oh yeah, im sorry, i forgot you were down in Australia...man, with all these deals here in the U.S. for TY...guess we just get too spoiled up here.. :) well, you gotta do what you gotta do right? just be careful when buying from ebay...if you think they are fake, email the seller and ask him/her to tell you BEFORE you bid/buy the inner hub coding on the discs they are selling, run it past me, and i'll tell you if they are real or not...just looking out for you buddy~ trust me, i have fake TYS and they SUCK.

so are discs made by ritek corp(RITEKG05)good media? i was just checking my maxell dvd's that i use for data files and it says RITEKG05...i use Sony media for my ps2 games

i PERSONALLY have had a lot of success with the Ritek G05s..others have NOT been so lucky, it's really a toss up if your particular setup likes them or not. i have another friend on here, his name is gurnard, he LOVES the Ritek G05s also...so, you got 2 people here that will stand by their quality at least on OUR OWN personal setups.
i consider them #3 on my choice of GOOD media...with Taiyo Yuden being #1 and Verbatim being #2...Ritek G05s are my #3 choice, but i would recommend to others the 1st 2 choices; there was a LONG discussion in the past about the variable quality of the G05s, i perhaps got the "good ones" before their quality control went downhill, i don't really know as i no longer use them, but the ones i made YEARS ago still playback just FINE today~ this is on MY backups, but, a few hundred on G05s is good enough for proof, at least for me it is. :) good luck.

I just bought two 25 DPR47LS3 ´S AccuCORE FOR $8.95 each at STAPLES.
I did not see them on the list.
They are made in TAIWAN (sigh!!!) 8>(
What do U think of those , or anybody else on this here forum.

I just picked up three packs of the Sony's on sale at Staples. Made in Japan and coded as Taiyo Yuden:
Manufacturer name: Taiyo Tuden
ID: YUDEN000
Media Type ID: T02
Disc: +R (1x-8x)
Made in Japan.
Cost$8.50 per 25
There were the fifty on sale at Best Buy but they were made in Taiwan.
I book type them to -R or Rom and they play flawlessly, even in teh Denon 2200 (which is kind of picky)
I also picked up FuJi (25 per pack) at Best Buy. $9.00 per 25 made in Japan, code as Taiyo Yuden 02's. 1x-8x Made in Japan. There were others by FuJi made in Taiwan.
