I have a SONY VAIO PCV-RZ14G and I am just getting sick and tired of SONY's GIGA POCKET because it has had so many porblems that SONY can't fix.
First, GIGA POCKET cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled without reinstalling the entire operationg system.

Second, usually after a few weekly scheduled recordings, the program would run into an "Encode Overflow" problem and the only way (that I know of)to make GIGA POCKET work again is to reinstall the entire OS from SONY's recovery CD's.

Third, GIGA POCKET could not be launched because of the following message:
"Another application is using hardware overlay. Please retry after exiting another application using overlay function." When I contacted SONY about this problem, they had no better suggestions than telling me to retore the system to a previous date.

Can anybody suggest an alternative software that I can use on the SONY VAIO computer?

Many thanks to zinkpig for posting the drivers.

I downloaded the driver located here: http://www.cc.utah.edu/~scm8/files/mpeg_encoder_1_1_4_6020.zip
and it worked great for my ENX-20 card.

The card is installed and running as a second tuner using Snapstream's Beyond TV version 4.3 so I can record two shows at once, or view one channel while recording another. I highly recommend Beyond TV.

Note: I did not have to attach any additional wires to get the audio to work on the ENX-20.

Hardware:
E-Machine Athlon 3000+
512MB Ram
120GB Western Digital Hard Drive
Hauppauge 150MCE (Tuner 1)
Sony ENX-20 (Tuner 2)
NVIDIA GeForce 5200 (128MB Ram, VGA, DVI, SVIDEO)
Snapstream Firefly Remote Control

Software:
Beyond TV 4.3
Windows XP Pro

Well, if you own the Giga Pocket Card, then this software will work.

My computer is a 2.4 Ghz, 768 Ram Dell Dimension. It works, yet it is choppy. Use that new P4 (=

Hi, does anyone have the drivers and application for the Sony ENX-25 tv tuner card. I do not have a sony viao, does that make a difference, because I tried downloading some drivers from the sony web site, but they wouldn't load, "This update is not intended for use with your computer model".

Ok, I just downloaded Giga Pocket from jonathanX web site, installed the application, and for some reason I cannot change the country to UK AND every time I open a giga pocket application, the programs cause an error and windows wants to send an error report?
Any ideas?

Ok I'll try uninstalling and then rebooting and installing the programs in a different order - can you suggest any particular order? or is it going to have to be trail and error ?

Arghhhh ! I can't stop this message from appearing "shwserve.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

It looks like, that even if I get it to work, the software is set to work with US settings not UK, how would I go about changing the settings to uk?

Yeah I'm using XP with service pack 2, and I did let windows send and error report, I can't see how that helps? Maybe I've just got a dodgy card?

What settings do you need to change for the UK ?
I can't suggest any particular order, but I do know a guy was getting an error and by uninstalling and reinstalling in a different order, it solved his problem. If windows wants to send an error report, let it. It might just give you a clue as to what the problem is.
I helped another guy get his set up over in the UK and his worked great.
Just a thought, You are running Windows XP.. Correct ?

I've seen this with ATI and NVIDEA video cards with GIGA Pocket and XP.
Save Restore point just in case.
Use a different video driver or if original video card, use the driver from Sony recovery cd-dvd. You may have to experiment and visit Video manuf site for different download versions or get from driversguide.
One of the built in XP drivers may work, just use the Hardware device manager, update fome a specific location and Don;t search I will choose the driver option. If more than one is listed try a different one than installed. Sometimes more options if uncheck Show compatible hardware.
If wrong driver goes in and won't boot up right, you can always boot to Safe Mode if need to remove wrong driver.
