Right, the cables.xml goes to /var/tuxbox/config.
If you can see the old cables.xml you are in the right subfolder at the box.
Delete the file scan.conf in the same folder after uploading the cables.xml and pull the plug at the dbox.

Different signal strength at the frequencies is not common for a cable network.
If some frequencies are good the signal should be alright.

Box and pc must be in the same subnet. Set the pc network card to the fixed ip 192.168.0.2 and the box to 192.168.0.24.
Type 192.168.0.24 and root for usierid and dbox2 for password in the quick connect line of filezilla and let connect.
If you get a connect the left window represending the pc and the right window the box. Open the right subfolder at the box, select the cables.xml at the pc side with a right click of the mouse and select upload.
At the box side select scan.conf with a right click and select delete.

Box and pc must be connected via crossover cable.
The box ip must be set to 192.168.0.24 in your case.
Save settings and restart network at the dbox.
Gateway at the pc doesn't matter. It can be set to 0.

Default port for FTP is 21. You shouldn't overwrite the default with a other value.

You cannot connect via port 0. Type 21 for the FTP port and use 192.168.0.2 for the IP at the pc for the network card in use.
The IP 192.168.0.24 is the targed adress for filezilla. The box must be set to 192.168.0.24 in your case.

I have a big problem. I got my dbox on monday. It had the wrong image on it so I flashed it with sportster. All went good. I want to upgrade the image to the latest sportster. Now I went to flash it again. It failed half way through the process. Now it tries to boot and the sportster image boots up to the startscreen only. I had disabled the on screen messages. It says no kernal on the LCD. What do I do ? Please help. :(

My sagems on blade gbox 001A with only nagra 7 kept freezing on RTE2 (a FTA channel).
They needed the channel changed over and back again to recover. On others they might go black for a second or 3 at most and autorecover.
I put on JTG which has 0014 as default. This seems OK on my 1x.
Then I put on commando 8.2 on my sagem 2x, it froze. I have only nagra 7 enabled, and on evocam, 001A. So I changed to 0014 and it seems stable so far (but too soon to be confident).
If you are having problems in dublin give 0014 a go. Same goes for blade, I never tried it on blade but if commando acts up I will.
JTG has virtual zap and teletext so I am pretty happy with it.

had both cables (null modem and crossover. is this right) connected went to network connections > right click > properties> double click on internet protocol> use following ip address> entered 192.168.0.24 (should have been192.168.0.2 right?) for ip address
subnet mask 255.255.255.0. . pressed ok and ok again
opened filezilla
entered host: 192.168.0.24 username: root password; dbox2 port: 0 ( should have been 21/ or left blank?)
then pressed quickconnect got error messages connection timed out, could not connect to server. :(
I think I now see where I was going wrong if I make these changes it should work. I hope, I'll give it a try this evening if my wife doesn't kill me for going near it again. This dbox has been getting more attention than her for the last three days!

Flash again with IFA, use this guide
http://techno-source.co.uk/Joomla/index....ic=12.0[/quote]
I tried this but no joy. I used a straight through and a crossover cable but no luck. What else can I do ? Is their anyone in Cork that can re-flash it with a legal image for me ?
