Hello,

I was recently having trouble with my Nokia D-Box and got an image from Ruprect (Sportster 1.7) that worked fine.

I flashed the same image to another box and left it unused for about 2 weeks. Then when I tried to use this box it would not decode the channels even though the identically imaged box was working fine.

The box that I had left plugged in is still working. I had a look and it seems the Keylist has been updated, most recently on June 22nd with the following:

N 5401 01 49ECA40C4FA030C6 ; ROM7 AU Key Time Fri Jun 22 17:27:30 2007

Why is it that the same image on the box that has not been used for two weeks will not update when plugged in for a while when the update is clearly working on the box that has plugged in all the time? Is it that if the keys change a few times the box cannot catch up?

It's a strange situation. My brothers box in the same house has been working fine despite n*ls repeated messing with codes. Also the box that had not been updating worked on n*l in another area (Bray) but will not work in the area of Dublin I live in (tried with 3 different connections), it's strange. Eventually I just copied the image from my working box onto the one that wasn't working and it's fine again but this has not happened before.

Ruprects image was previously bulletproof but it seems now as if I need to keep a box plugged in all the time to keep it automatically updating.

Is there any reason why this is happening and anyway around it. Like I said I am using an image that is stable and has previously had no trouble.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert
Check the ROM files: They are causing the errors in the AU = {2}. Peeps are posting images and backups and the files are not correct !!!! Why do you think that the EVox works so well ???? or the new Starview fix ?????
Thanks for your help

What do I need to check about the Rom files Alan? And where can i get up to date and working ones from?

Look at
http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/english/dm500_copy_eng.php

They have pics of a genuine and a fake side by side

it is only DM500 that are being cloned at the moment, Dreammedia have stopped making DM500's and have replaced them with DM600's which have the option of a Hard Drive

also, it appears that it is the Satellite version of the dreambox that is being cloned

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this DBox craic, I'm in limerick and a Nokia Dbox2 is on its way to me, I'm in Chorus Cable. I was wondering if i have some of my facts right.

the dbox i'm getting has NEUTRINO loaded on to it already and as far as i can tell this is the firmware for the box so to speak.

I then need to load on an OS which would be an IMAGE such as Blade or Commando.

And finally i need the config files for the specific area which are referred to as "SERVICES & BOUQUETS"

Have i got all of this right or am i missing a few things? Also can anyone tell me where to get files or be kind enough to send them so i can get kicked off, i'm having some trouble finding places to download them from.

Thanks, D_G

Sorry. FTP to var/keys and copy the camd_cfg file there to the desktop. Open it in a text editor and insure that under AU, it is set to AU = {2}
Save the file and then copy it back to var/keys and var/scce and overwrite the existing file when prompted. In fact, you might be better deleting them first and then copying over the file...Hope this helps

Just got a second Dbox. The original was a Nokia and this is a Sagem, no probs with the original 15-20 min scan and working perfect since. The new one has thus far taken an hour to scan to 330mill frequency on "Cable Bruteforce", I'm a complete novice when it comes to anything techie but from reading this thread it looks as though i'll need to flash a new image. My question is how do i do this, have the 2 cables being mentioned but useless with computers, in the Dublin 3/9 area any help would be great.... should have just got another Nokia.

Once you have it working it should autoupdate, unless they dramatically change things. I have nokias on sportster 1.7 since feburary with older evocams that have never given any trouble with all the changes they are doing lately.

People were saying dreamboxes were going to give no trouble, but on many forums they did seem to have trouble in dublin. People keep asking me which to get, friends of friends and people in work. I dont want to recommend any really since I know they will be hassling me if it goes down. I was thinking dreambox, but I now think nokias on 1.7 are the most stable. I dont like 1.7 since it has no teletext or virtual zap, but if people never had that they dont miss it.

The "Dbox2 are all 5+ years old", doesnt bother me too much. There are no moving parts in them so they should last a while, Nokia are a respected brand so probably have quality parts. God knows what sort of cheap components are going into grey area units. And the dboxes seem to have more people programming for them.
