So is it a multi-branch university - like the University of California with branches in LA, San Diego, etc. Isn't the whole of the British Isles about the size of California - something like that no?

Hey Shaff,
Why does Sam have all those hard drives? Lol
Man, in preparation for the new build, I'm over on the PC building thread - 201 pages and I'm on page 4. It will be a year before I post anything LOL.
If I read two pages a day, and you and Sam and greensman and boozer and gtr and ray and cincy and sophocles and all the rest of the geniuses over there post one page a day, that works out to be about 200 days and I'll be caught up - 7 months from now!! :P
By then you'll be banned 5 more times and your user name will be Sperbie - a combination of Sam and Permanent Newbie!
Catchy name, I like it! :D
See you guys, Sam and Sperb, a little later!

Hey booze, easy for you and sperb to say (I'm going to start using shaff's new name to get ready for the inevitable . . . . LOL)
Just kidding!
If I start posting I'll feel like a retard. All you dudes are so far ahead on southbridge, northbridge, front side bus, 775 socket, chipsets, sata drives, oc'ing versus loose memory, Nehalem architecture ..... WHUUUTTTTTT?????
Ok fine. Ask questions. Great! Here's my first question: What's a front side bus, and can I take it down to the beach from here?
Let's face it - I'm behind the times. I'm out here drilling holes in my case and getting ready to perform a major system upgrade on . . . . . my P4 . . . . hahahahahahah

FSB is the pathway that carries info between CPU and northbridge. It runs at a certain frequency and CPUs have multipliers that determine what frecency the CPU will run at. For example the FSB is running at 400Mhz and the CPU multiplier is 8x. Then the CPU frequency is 3200Mhz. This is also how we OC. By messing with the FSB and Multiplier.
And yes you CAN take it to the beach. Just don't get it wet haha.

Hmmmmmm.
That was very nice boozer. Helpful.
And actually, I AM thinking of oc'ing . . . what else . . . my p4 . . . . hahahahaha.
No seriously. With the new psu - the corsair 450 with 33 amps on the 12 volt rail, I'll move the 20 amp allied 500 (fake 500) to the 'green' computer with the top exhaust fan, stick the x850xtpe in that, and have another cod4 mp computer (but only 533 bus, 2.8ghz p4, 1gig memory.
The gaming rig with 3.2 ghz P4 will get the 3850, new psu, and 2 gigs of faster memory - and on Newegg, some of the reviews talked about increasing their 3.2s up to like 3.6, 3.7? I'll have a lot of ventilation in the case and I think I can get rid of the heat. So I WILL be talking to you guys about oc'ing the P4, since you are all saying that it will be the bottleneck with the 3850 goes in.
So in a month or so, I'll be asking for some help on FSB and multipliers, and BIOS, and memory timings.
Sounds good dude!
So - like - no bus huh? - I gots to WALK to the beach per normal, is that what you're saying? Lol

the FSB connect the CPU to the memory through the NB actually :P
and the higher the FBS the higher the bandwidth between the CPU and memory, but it has a limit of about 10GB/s where as DDR3 is hittin well over that, so there are no differences between DDR3/2 in games atm, thats where nehalem and deneb come in, with their intergrated Memory Controller (IMC) they dont need an FSB, and can reach huge bandwidth, esp with triple channel ram.

Sam - yeah I know that's the reason you don't have a full tower - plus you have that special carrying bag for your NZXT, right?
Shaff - are you in love? So, dude, DDR3 offers no advantage right now due to 10GB fsb restriction - but with Nehalem on the new build and IMC, (and triple channel ram) the faster memories will begin to kick in and help with gaming? Groovy!
Boozer, ok, my mobo is an MS-7103 with 800mhz side bus, socket 775 p4 3.2ghz - can I OC it?
Ray, thanks for the encouragement - yeah I'll be going quad core or whatever is the nehalem equivalent.
GTR - yeah, I've been amazed at some of the anandtech articles.

Nice one, I've heard good things about the studio, wonder how the card rates against mine, post some specs when you get it (IF):P
