I just got a new computer, with a GeForce 7900 GT OC and want to overclock it just slightly more, how do I do this? I've tried Coolbits and such, but it doesn't show up anywhere, I'm not sure what to do. Also, how do I check if I have the newest drivers? I'm pretty sure I do, but whenever I try to search the nVidia site, I can never get any answers and it just confuses the hell out me. Could someone give me the links to the newest drivers I should have for my video card? Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

in the nvidia control panle if you click on "help" then "system info" it will tell you which version of forceware you are running. i think the latest for yours is 93.71 which you can get here for xp. the cool bits options are in the control panel and are very easy to use. powerstrip and rivatuner will also work but are a bit harder to use.
edit
note, overclocking voids your warrenty and any damage cause is your fault.

DKrazie,

Unfortunatly chances are good that you can't! Most name brand computers lack the needed adjustments for all but the basic setup. My old Dell 3000 was the same way. Fortunately I was able to sell it without losing any money and build my own P4.
Basicly you need to be able to adjust the Frontside bus, CPU and memory voltages, memory timings and be able to lock both the memory and the PCI bus speeds. You could even do it without the voltage adjustments but then it will be limited by what the processor can take at stock voltage and no more.
Trust me when I tell you, you can build a better computer than you can buy in most name brands for a lot less money that will perform much better. build your own and come here. We will all help you!
Happy Computering,
theone

Well the short answer would be to look around this thread, but there's a lot of it! Since Multipliers are almost always locked, Front side bus is the name of the game. Memory timings and Voltages are things that have to be adjusted in order to achieve a higher FSB (and also Hypertransport setting for AMDs). For example, you may start with a 2200mhz processor (200mhz X11) and can only go to 2400mhz before the system is unstable at its normal settings. At this point you could then try and up the CPU and RAM voltage a tiny bit, and maybe loosen the memory latencies... Every PC is different, so see how far you can up the FSB before you get instabilities. A pre-requisite of overclocking however, is good cooling, good quality RAM, motherboard and a stable power supply.

Yeah you obviously have an adaptive BIOS. Is that leaving voltages and timings stock? 28% is a very good overclock for any system.

Adaptive was a bit of a poor choice of word, basically I meant one that resets your settings if it detects what you chose didn't work, to reduce the chance of needing to replace the BIOS battery. I wouldn't call yourself a noob to get 28%, that's more than a lot of professional OCers can get with a lot of chips.

right, so from earlier posts i gather it not your ram or cpu needing more power, can you change the ht link in your bios. it will give you options of x5, x4, x3 or 1000mhz, 800mhz, 600mhz and so on, just knock it down, and see if that helps.
got to say that you have already got a healthy oc @27% and that might be the limit of your mobo/cpu. have you looked for other people who have oced on your board?

well my RAM memory was 800mhz...and i drop it to 400mhz...and still cant push my cpu further...the furthest is 2.34GHz(260mhz)but its so unstable...keeps giving me error messages or reboots my pc...2.3GHz is stable(255mhz)...my mobo sucks thats why...

Trust me that's a high grade overclock. Other than Core 2 Duos, 28% is pretty much up the top with the best performers.
